Is this typical? Two HDMI in for receiver

I've seen a lot of these receivers have minimal amount of hdmi inputs. Is the expectation on the user to buy a hdmi splitter in order to connect all devices? I would want to connect 4 HDMI devices to a receiver.

Or am I missing something?

Depends on the cost of the receiver in most cases. Mine has 5 inputs and 2 outs (LCD and Projector).

You need to aim higher up the receiver ladder than an HTIB or lowest price AVR probably. Many AVRs have 4 or more HDMI inputs (mine has 7). What is your budget?

Get a standalone receiver and you'll have a minimum of 4 HDMI inputs.
