Do you like yourself?

euh, I would say yes.

Then save up for your luxury items.

What is luxury for me might not be luxury for you and vice versa.

If you don't have enough now for something excellent, then save until you do, and spare yourself the dual agonies of perpetual second-guessing and ultimately-more-costly upgrades.

I happen to find my subs to be excellent...for me at least. And yes, far superior subs are available, I'm aware of that.

And subwoofers aren't like video games or whatever; it's terrible advice to 'buy now because there may be something nicer next year.' At all times there are powerful, deep voiced subs to rock your world, and the price points stay mostly the same, year to year.

I'm pretty sure this goes along the line of what I was saying about wanting the next one that is better. Same price point or not.

You have to spend more to have the HT experience everybody talks about, and that's that.

With all due respect, I feel sorry for you.

BTW my car was built in 1998 and I live in an apartment, just so you know.

euh..ok

Hehe. I probably came off as a jerk there; it wasn't my intention. I'm not casting aspersions on your setup (which you've got every reason to enjoy) and I wasn't talking to you when I asked "do you like yourself?"--that may have been the jerkiest part.

I really just mean to say that in my opinion, the best advice for a system in a space as large as the original poster's--a system intended to run home theater media 85% of the time--won't include a single, small sub with a 10" driver and a 200 watt amp. I have owned and operated this particular sub in a smaller space, as well as a much better one, and I'm saying that the difference is worth the wait; it's better by far to wait until the OP can afford something heftier. My own experience is what motivates me here.

lol, no sweat.

You're probably right with the large space and the 10" sub. I should have read more carefully. A 12" driver is probably a better option for the OP.

This audio stuff is a great hobby and most of us are very passionate about it.

cheers

I wanted to ask him how he liked his Mirage speakers in general and in a room that size how well they performed. Now I may never know.

He mentioned back corner location which usually means close or closer to MLP so I'm sure the STF-2 would be a lot better than no sub.

Also might want to take a look at the Cadence CSX12II which you can generally get for $300 if you ask, which has pretty significant output above 25hz.

Ha! Wasn't scared away - just happened to be out of town for the weekend. With that said, my speakers were delivered on my way out on Friday, so I haven't had the opportunity to install. I'll let you know my impressions as soon as I can.

I appreciate (most of) the responses. The main reason I posted was I feared that this space would swallow up a smaller sub. After weighing options, I will probably wait and add a larger one in the future.

And Kini62 - thanks for the Cadence recommendation. Are you implying that if I called them directly, they would consider a lower offer? Anyone heard of Hsu Research doing this?

Thanks again,
