Mac Mall had the 55VT50 on pre-order for the last month or so for ~$1,800 and change, by far the best deal I'd seen for it. I just looked again and it doesn't come up in a search. Not sure when they took it down or why, or if maybe it just can't be brought up in a search for some reason...but it might have something to do with the whole "best deal by far" thing haha. Surprising that if it were a mistake that it would have taken so long for them to recognize and fix it, and curious to think about if they would honor all the pre-orders they took for it.

I think Macmall got hit by Panasonic. I got this from hdj forum -

I'll take a guess that Mac mall is a web retailer Who is selling vt50 cheap online.. We have a company that tracks down the distributor who sold them the goods. Fines. And threat to disco products come. Hopefully that'll stop the price abusers. But these type of companies don't sell much inventory to really effect things. They bring in single digits on products each time. Not much.

Good find.

Looks like Amazon removed the link for the 65" version, I had it on my wish list but it is gone now.

It was messed up anyway, it kept pointing to the 55" specs.

Prices for Magnolia items often differ online and in-store.

As do both in-store prices and willingness to discount from store to store. And some stores will price match and other stores can arbitrarily decline to price match even if you meet all the criteria (confirmed price,in stock at another B&M store nearby). You'd think being a chain there would be some standardization but basically every store is its own little kingdom and how competitive they are varies wildly from area to area. The only thing that usually is similar is the people working there not knowing as much as the average person who reads this site.

You can now add the 65VT50 to cart on Amazon with delivery date of May 9th, but it still shows MSRP.

I'm not sure what other locations are selling it for, as I'm not in New York, but I'd imagine it should be the same. You could call your preferred Magnolia and ask them what current pricing is, the SKU is 5025076. I would check for you but I'm off until tomorrow night.

I was a bit surprised that the TV has not even hit stores yet and it's already being discounted from MSRP. Usually VT plasmas at BB stay at MSRP for a while. It may be an early pricing error.

Do you think the 65VT50 will be $2800 at Best Buy by the end of the year?

I called my local BB and they are indeed offering it for $2199...the rep said that the online price is higher...I'm also surprised as well about the discount at launch

but when you add in sales tax (which other authorized dealers don't have) then the savings isn't quite as big

$3145 and free camera from Panasonic EPP
Says it ships in 1 to 3 days.

Jumped on it from the EPP site - paid my taxes though. Got an email that says it's backordered 1-3 days so we will see...

Whomever is so lucky enough to have received their 65VT50, would be so kind and measure the box dimensions. Need to know what van size I would need to haul this baby back to my nest.

And at the same time, would any of you happen to know if the weight (Gross Weight [lbs (kg)] 127.9 lbs. (58 kg)) includes the base or not? Need to know if current Sanus walmount can handle the weight.

Appreciate the help.

THanks

These come from Panasonic, not direct measurements. I find that they are usually pretty accurate though. Hope they help!

65VT50:
14.45"(D) X 67.44"(W) X 44.57(H) 141.1 Lbs.

55VT50:
11.18"(D) X 59.69"(W) X 34.65"(H) 97 Lbs.

Magnolia store pricing for TV's is the same at all stores. The price can, at times, be lower in-store than it is online. This is usually due to manufacturer pricing policies. The current in-store price is $2199.98 for the 55VT50.
