Panasonic VT50 Deals - Page 42

So do all Best Buy stores carry the VT50? Or just the Magnolia stores? Also why not just buy from Buytvtoday.com? Do they have a bad rep? Thanks
post #1232 of 2673
Funny - I just called Almaden BB in SJ CA -

Manager Debbie said they wouldn't match $2599 @ BTV (couldn't be sure it wasn't a refurb).

Offered me $2999

Then I gave them East Coast and All Time to match @ $2769 - came back and said yes.

And that I'd need to come to the store for the override. Took my name etc.

Not exactly consistent. but $900 off isn't bad at all.

99% only the Magnolia stores will have them in stock which might be only 1 or atleast have a Display model. But does not mean you can't go to a store without a Magnolia to get one. If your lucky you might have a BB warehouse close by not sure what States have them. If your going for the 65" I would just get it delivered that box is huge. I don't even know if it would fit in a full size SUV/Minivan since it's rather tall and long for sure a Cargo Van/Pickup with some straps box seemed to be a little top heavy.

Shared this with the BBY sales guy that said he would work with me to find the best price match. Fingers crossed!

When I got the price match I brought in a print out of the buytvtoday.com price of $2599 and one other at $2799 from either power sellers of NY or plasma TV for less.

I also got shot down, but got them to match eastcoasttvs $2769. I still think that's a fair price considering none of these websites are actually authorized dealers. Best Buy should deliver on Monday. Thanks everyone for posting their purchasing experiences.

Authorized has nothing to do with it, LOL. Look up any of these super low priced web sites up on BBB >>> http://www.bbb.org/us/Find-Business-Reviews/

Hi All. Longtime lurker, first time poster.
Wanted to thank everyone for this thread. I just got back from BB here in Salem, OR (non-Magnolia) and my new 55" is scheduled for delivery next Saturday.
Emailed the home theater manager last night referencing this forum and buytvtoday.com. He replied "yeah sure we can match that"...drove over this afternoon to finalize the paperwork. Done deal @ $1,625.00. Can't wait until Saturday:D
Thanks again to everyone who shared their info.

Don't want to jinx my deal, but after emailing yesterday afternoon, I was able to speak on the phone today with the local Magnolia dept. supervisor about getting the 65VT50 for $2599 price match, along with 36 mo. same as cash, free delivery, ISF calibration, Premier Silver, etc... and he said no problem to everything. Will stop by after work on Monday to close the deal, as the credit app. can't be done over the phone. Very excited... he said delivery would be possible by weeks end. Will also be getting a pair of the 2012 Panny glasses, and the 500 series bluray player, as my old Sony ES received can't decode the Dolby True HD of DTS Master audio formats (though it does have the 7.1 analog inputs....) will be seeking the Amazon PM on the glasses and the player...

Will update when the deal is finalized Monday afternoon...

I wish you luck with that. I went the same route yesterday with my locall Magnolia and they shot me down in a hurry. Working hard to get a deal still but they flat out said no to matching the $2599. I keep showing them all these posts and they aren't budging.

Hey everyone, I just wanted to share my experience to give those out there looking for a deal some more hope.

I live in Orange County. I tried and got shot down by all the BBs in my area, like 6-7. Out of desperation I tried some that were 60miles away and also asked a person on the forums who succeeded in their PM which BB they got theirs at (Thanks!). That BB turned me down too, but the Geek Squad person who got back to me was really helpful. He explained to me that they tried to place an order through BuyTVnow.com and that, in short, the website is shady and so the manager wouldn't honor that price ($2599) but then he offered me an open box for $2399. I went and checked it out and it looked pretty good, it looked like someone just took it home, mounted it and decided they didn't like the look because almost everything was in its original sealed package, including the remote. Tried to talk them down a bit more but they wouldn't have it and I didn't have much leverage anyways, the lowest I got another BB to go was $2899, so I bought it! Now I just got to haul it home, check the service menu to see how long the TV has been used and pray that it is in as good of a condition as I thought! I got until January 21st to scrutinize it or return it for a full refund.

Here's what I learned
1. If you are really polite and patient with them, some employees will fight for you. When I went to look at it, the guy I originally contacted had gone home but his fellow employee told me that he tried to make my case to the manager and got shot down.

2. The deal is really YMMV. I'm guessing that each store only has 1 manager and he approved the PM for 1 person but not for me, they don't seem to follow a set formula for PM.

I'm pretty giddy right now. Let's just hope there's no serious flaws!!!

If you are determined to continue to deal with that particular location, try what the previous poster did, offer to fill out a credit app/ purchase warranty, that gives the salesman some wiggle room. Otherwise, take your newfound experience to another BB and seek out a malleable sales associate...

I think I will do that (do credit app, let them put it on a BBY account) if they'll throw in a calibration post break in. Good negotiating tool, thanks.

This is the modern-day equivalent of selling something out of the back of a truck. My opinion... if you wouldn't buy from them you shouldn't be asking someone else to match their price. I do think the fact that they're not authorized has a lot to do with it though. Their BBB records perhaps shed some light on why they're not authorized...

Not supporting, or defending, but every store has multiple managers(3-6) that are able to make decisions on PM's. That may explain why you got a different answer than someone else.

East Coast TV has a "B" rating from BBB. They state that that their TVs are new & includes the full manufacturer warranty. Pretty damn cheap too...65VT50 @ $2754 free shipping and no tax...actually cheaper for me than getting BB to match $2599 and paying tax. Anyone ordered from them?

Ah didn't know that, thanks for clarifying it for me and everyone else. I just assumed there was 1 because at each store website, there is only an E-mail to 1 manager.

There is only one General Manager, which would be the email on the site. There are several other sales and inventory managers that take turns running the floor and handling requests like PM's.

If you buy this TV at Best Buy for anywhere around $2500, you're going to reach the Reward Zone Premier Sliver tier and a free ISF calibration is included as a Silver benefit. So don't use that as a negotiating tool. You're going to get one regardless.

Good to know, thanks!

Hello,

First time post, although I've lurked here for quite some time. I greatly appreciate these forums. I stopped by the Tuttle best buy in Dublin, oh (suburb of Columbus - home of Wendy's and the memorial tourney) today. There was a great sales person by the name of Jeremy in the magnolia section. He was able to get his manager involved to pm btv for 2599. I also picked up a pair of the cheap Samsung glasses - I don't know that I'll use the 3d but these were cheap enough to give it a trial run before buying the panny glasses. They gave me free in home delivery. There was also a special where all open box bdp's were 50% off so I was also able to pick up a pioneer Bdp150 for $49!

I can't wait to watch it, but it will not be delivered until we move in to our new house hopefully in about a month!

Congrats! Mine will be here on Thursday. After my Magnolia Design Center salesmen refused the PM I just called another "regular" Best Buy and got the $2599 deal. Silly rabbits...

Amazon is currently offering the 55VT50 for $2,299 with a $500 credit, net price for the TV $1,799. I went to the Best Buy in King of Prussia, PA and they matched the offer by taking $400 off the BB price of $2,199 and selling me a $500 gift card for $400. I was in and out of the store in 30 minutes.

I used the gift card to get a Slingbox 500 and 3D glasses, which I already planned to buy, and still have a little left over on the card. The balance on the gift card won't expire, but the $500 credit at Amazon expires on 3/31/13 and Amazon excludes certain items from being used with the credit.

Delivery is on Friday. All set to burn in the VT50 this weekend.

You'll be happy with sling. I have a sling adapter for my dish hopper and I'm really enjoying this tv everywhere concept.

Don't give up. The closest Best Buy, the one I bought my Oppo and all my other stuff from wouldn't match. Called another local store, they said sure, did a price override while I was on the phone and took my credit card. Delivery is Thursday!

Thanks for that tip. It looks like the same thing works for the 55" at Adorama as well, bringing it down to $1799 without any gift card nonsense.

Doesn't work for me. The 65" displays at $3,498.00. I registered and signed in, and signed up for their email special deals (but haven't received anything yet)...what else would I need to do?

It showed up for me on the 65" at $2799, by just clicking on the previously mentioned link.
