What an amazing TV!

It will look much better after 200hrs of viewing.

Even though I originally bought the 65VT50 from Best Buy for $2,699 (with tax, $2,860.80 out the door) on 11/16, the Magnolia manager at my local Best Buy was extremely rude. He wouldn't honor the $2,599 price even though he logged onto this thread (he knew all about it, says he's an avid AVS reader) and basically told me even though it's been posted here by you guys, there was no way other Best Buy's around the country were selling the tv at $2,599. He was willing to let me walk and lose the sale over the $100, but unfortunately I caved, paid, and scheduled my delivery for the following Monday.
As I got home, and as I told this story to my girlfriend and a few other of my friends, it really bothered me (and them as they gave me their feedback) that this Magnolia manager was not in the least friendly, had nothing positive to offer, and was basically acting like a thug, so I decided to go back the next morning, to the normal returns/customer service area, and told them what happened the previous night. I told them I'd like to get a refund, not because I no longer wanted the tv, but my experience was horrible, especially for the amount of money I was spending. I said if that's the way he treats a customer at initial purchase, I could only imagine how they'd treat me if something went wrong with the television after purchase. The manager of the returns area offered to take the extra $100 off as a courtesy, but I told him thanks but no thanks, and they processed my refund. I'm sure if I haggled, and counter-offered that in addition to the $100 off, they throw in something like 3D glasses or a few blue rays, they probably would have done so just to keep the sale, but I wasn't in the mood to haggle.
So, I ended up going home and buying the 65GT50 off of Amazon. Sure, it's not the "top of the line" Panasonic, but the one sheet of glass, and the extra filter the VT has isn't a big deal to me, and I preferred saving a few hundred bucks and not paying sales tax. Amazon delivered one day after Best Buy was supposed to, brought it inside, installed the stand onto the tv, and I am extremely happy with my purchase.

I applaud your principled stand.

As luck would have it, my existing plasma set wants to be replaced. I started reading this thread, getting a little excited about the price matching with Best Buy.

I've decided to not use this approach though, for exactly the reasons stated in the few posts ahead of this one. I contacted Chris at Cleveland Plasma and I'll know by tomorrow if he can have a 55" VT50 delivered in time for my holiday house guests to enjoy. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can give him my business...

What price are you getting the set for?

Can anyone comment on the adorama shopping experience? By all accounts they appear to be a reputable dealer with solid service, safe shipping, and an excellent return policy. Would love to hear some actual experience buying through them.

A little off topic but I thought I would let everyone know about the deal I got today.

Onkyo NR818 for 679.99. Regular price of 1199. Also got two pair of the Panasonic RF 3D glasses for 57/pair.

So here is my system so far and what I paid.

Pannisonic 65VT50 2599(Best Buy)
Onkyo NR818 679 (Best Buy)
Pannisonic glasses 57x2(Best Buy)
Free ISF calibration (Best Buy)

Up next, in wall speakers to replace my Klipsch sat's.

Just got home from PC Richards and Son and purchased the 65VT50 for $2743 and included a Panasonic Sound Bar with sub woofer for free.

Delivery is this Sunday just in time to see some football.

Super Excited at paying below 3K

I actually ended up calling Adorama this morning and asking them about their shipping -- as the information on their website is a little sketchy. The person who picked up took a lot of time to get a hold of that information. He went and asked around. Then he came back and told me the White Glove shipping is not free. Further, it does not include hooking up the TV and confirming that the TV is indeed operational. So, I just gave up on them.

BB was not willing to budge beyond the $3,299.

So, I reached out to Paul's TV and got Paul's TV to PM Adorama and instead of the $100 gift card, I got them to deduct it from the price. So, net-net got the 65VT50 for $2,699 with no tax and free white glove delivery. Now I'll go and read through tother AVS forums on how to break-it-in and calibrate.

Thank you all for sharing your experiences.

Any word of advice on extended warranties, e.g. SquareTrade, etc.?

I am very curious. After researching a lot of TV's I think I've settled on the Panasonic P65VT50.
Has anyone had any luck using the Flxedit.com websites price for negotiations? This is the lowest
price that I have seen anywhere for this Pany.

Thanks.

It's under Panasonic Consumer. (When you click Panasonic in the navigation bar on the left - it defaults to Panasonic Professional.)

Got it!

You guys must be better at negotiating than I am. I spent three afternoons trying to get Best Buy to price match. I ended up buying it at 10:50pm after haggling for over an hour I settled for $2,764.00 for the 65VT50 delivered and two pair of Panasonic 3D glasses. I honestly have no idea how we came to that number. I just wanted to buy local and have an easy return policy. Honestly it was worse than buying a car! Now I’m just looking for it to show up next week. Thanks for all the information everyone has provided or I probably would have paid alot more for it.

That's still a good deal. I actually called a certain local BBY based on a tip here on the forum. In under 10 minutes, they matched the $2599 with free delivery two days later.

I'd love to find it for $2599. Can't get them to go below $2,700.

I saw this info on the VT50 owners thread and thought I would share it here.

Sears has the Panasonic TY-ER3D4MUs on sale for $29.97.

I will be taking my receipt into Best But tonight for a price match.
For those who got the $2549. Did you use Buytvtoday to match?

That is the site BB used to match mine. When I went in there I was expecting resistance from them, but they were very accommodating. Whole procedure took less than 20 minutes.

Hi all, Merry Xmas!

I just found this site as I was looking for a TV. It's so informative! Thanks a million!
Could someone please help me out by sending me a receipt from your recent BB price match? I would love to get the 65VT50 but had no luck price matching. Thank you so much! Also, I am looking to price match in a store around Portland. Any suggestion? Thanks once again!

I wanted to reply to you using PM but can't since I've reached my daily limit. rolleyes.gif
However, I am not in the area you mentioned. Thanks for the help!

Anyone had any luck getting Best Buy to match a Panasonic friends and family deal? Currently I can get the VT for 25% off from panny but I'd prefer to get at best buy.
