I realized, at the time of posting, this would probably anger some people. My intention was never to come off sounding like I was bragging. Instead, just trying to help people with access to a BrandsMart. No need for sour grapes. Thread is for helping folks get the best deal on the best TV.

Thanks for tip. Drove from Chattanooga to Atlanta today. Visited 1st brAndsmart in kennesaw, had floor model for 1998.00.

Visited 2nd location in doraville. zero inventory

Visited mall of Georgia location, they had one on floor. Open box. Excellent condition. Better than 1st it seemed.

Purchased for $1949.00

I'm sure if I had read this post before last night, maybe I would have had a brand new unit, me personally I'm totally satisfied. If you understand economics, my utility of this unit is much higher at this price.

Many times in 2012, I almost paid more for a used GT on amazon.

I purchased my 1st plasma from brAndsmart in 2005, so I know brAndsmart can be pleasantly unpredictable at times, so I figured I'd roll the dice and go.

So at least as of 2pm there is a floor model at kennesaw location still.

Thanks again
Ken

Yes. I think it was 9.99. You really only need one PP, since it's the same SKU for however many pair you buy.

Keep in mind that is not technically how it works. This would only leave you covered for a single pair. If you have 1 pair replaced, it consumes the warranty. Also, if more than one breaks, you are not covered. The only way to make sure that all pairs are covered, you would need to purchase coverage for every pair.

I understand how it works and I should have clarified that point - I only did this in case one pair broke. I have a total of 4 pair, but will probably only use one pair with a second pair for my wife's occasional use. Pairs 3 & 4 will probably never even come out of the box tbh.

Is this a reliable vendor? Who's purchased from here?

I got my 55" VT50 At Best Buy last week for $1600. The website showed $1999 at my local store. I went into the store to get it
and was told it was on sale at $1600. This was NOT an open box or display. I do not have any special connection or discount.
I went in looking to spend the $1999 listed on the website and walked out with the 55" two pairs of glasses and a new Blueray
player for the bedroom for $2400 with a 5 year extended warranty. The ticket shows the discounted price of the TV. I did not
see any thing showing it was on sale online or in the store, Only when I asked if they had the 55" in stock was I told it was on
sale. So its worth asking it seems and not just going by the web site or ads.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Panasonic will not honor the warranty if item was purchased from non-authorized dealer. I don't believe Squaretrade would allow an extended warranty, either.

You may want to read the fine print on their return policy as well.

It's not my money, but I would have a hard time advising someone to save a few bucks by buying from a non-authorized dealer. I like having the peace of mind knowing I'm covered if anything happens. To each their own, I suppose.

Many best buy stores will match EastCoastTVs.com, including their PAYCHECK 2% discount. My store matched it (though oddly enough refused to match Paul's)

That's not true, at least on paper. If you look at the official Panasonic Color Television/Display Products Limited Warranty (http://www2.panasonic.com/static/Warranty/WARRANTY_TV_Plasma.pdf), it states:

This Limited Warranty only applies to products purchased and serviced in the United States or Puerto Rico. This Limited Warranty is extended only to the original purchaser and only covers product purchased as new. A purchase receipt or other proof of the original purchase date is required for Limited Warranty service.

Nowhere it says that the warranty only applies to products purchased from an authorized dealer. Of course, personally I haven't purchased a Panasonic product from a non-authorized dealer. I'm interested in hearing from people actually having dealt with this issue, i.e., whether they had any problem with the warranty services.

I have never purchased from East coast but they do advertise here on AVS. That may mean nothing though. I put it out there so some others could use it to get AMAZON or BEST BUY etc to match.

I've been looking to get this tv for awhile now, and I'm just curious if it's better to try to get it from Best Buy or try to get Amazon to price match online pricing? I live 5 minutes away from a Best Buy, and have a reward zone card, and soon to have it upgraded to the Silver Rewards after my Retina Macbook Pro kicks in, but I just got that 2 weekends ago. Anyways, my BB would have to have it shipped to their store. Just really debating on if it's worth it to try to get it someplace online that doesn't charge tax, and have to deal with it being shipped in pretty cold weather, or just have BB get one ordered.

Just would like some opinions from everyone. What about warranty through BB vs. SquareTrade? I've heard some bad comments from people who have had issues with BB and their warranty.

Also, can anyone recommend a good soundbar or surround sound system that will cost $500 or less. I have bad hearing for the young age of 29(due to listening to loud music too much!)

Thanks

I can confirm that is the current in-store price at all Best Buy stores.

Sorry, you are correct $1699. Sometimes the 99's tend to fall off...

There's a Slickdeals thread claiming it's $1598 in store at Best Buy as of today.

Yeah, that wasn't necessary.

I got the Best Buy price match of buytvtoday's price of $2549 too, about ten days ago. Thanks to your heads up, I went back to BB today and got a refund of $75 for the difference of the new BTV price of $2475. It was fast and easy; the associate at the customer service desk seemed happy to be giving me money back. So yes, Best Buy price matches a price match. And yes, they'll do it for 30 days (60 days for Reward Zone Premier Silver members).

So far, I'm well pleased with this purchase...and I haven't even received the TV yet. ;-)

My apologies - didnt see that it was verified and couldn't believe a vendor would sell it a few hundred below their cost. great deal to anyone that got it at that price.

Ughh, any tricks to getting Best Buy to match someone not on their "list of authorized dealers" for a Panasonic 65VT50? I tried a few magnolia stores in the Houston area and none would match buytvtoday.com and eastcoasttvs.com prices... All the bestbuys gave me a whole spiel about how those online retailers are not truely authorized and selling at that price could have major repercussions yadda yadda...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Richard

It had to wait till tomorrow for shipping because of the billing address update we did. New house in NC + new space for a HUGE TV = woohoo biggrin.gif

I'll update once all is said and done for those, who like me, are not in a State where Paul's TV operates stores. The hunt is on for a BB that will price match 3D glasses to the Sears price - wish me luck cool.gif

I didn't even think about going through Ebates - we use that every time we order diapers & baby clothes. Never even crossed my mind that Paul's would be on the list. mad.gif

My order shipped from MA (to NC) on Monday. It's due to arrive on the 17th. I have nothing but praise for Paul's as we were having issues w/ our new billing address. It seems it's not in the post office system yet, so the purchase would never go through. We switched our billing address back to the old one and it went through.

Since I was unable to get the purchase through the first night, I was able to go through Ebates.com this time and got the 2.5% cash back ($65). So after all is said & done, I paid $2,534.99.

If you haven't signed up for Ebates, I'd highly recommend it. It's free and you get cash back to your paypal account or an amazon gift card every three months for purchases made through their site.

Pretty stoked to have the TV of the year for such an amazing price!!!

The whole price matching thing at Best Buy this season seems arbitrary and capricious. If you didn't call, try calling Best Buy and asking for the price match. If that doesn't work, look up the store info for each of the stores you tried, find the email address and send a price match request via email. If that doesn't work and you physically went into the stores to ask for a price match, try again and ask a different person this time, assuming they don't all end up going to the same manager for approval. Heck, even if they do, keep trying, reminding them that the price on these sets has been dropping everywhere.

If that fails, try getting them to match Paul's TV price. Paul's isn't on their "official" list but neither are the other two that many people have gotten them to match. Paul's is at least not quite as sketchy as the other two.

And if all that fails, the in-store price is now pretty attractive compared to as recently as a week ago. ;-)

Seems to me that they have been anything but arbitrary and capricious in his experience. They are following the policy. Stores not following this policy are probably the minority despite what may be seen in this thread. Especially given the fact that store locations etc are being passed around. I would be interested to know out of all the people here in this thread that have managed to get this price match, how many different stores were actually involved. I suspect that a large number of them went to stores called out in this thread as willing to break policy.

Interesting. From what I read, many tried multiple stores in their local geography until they found one that would "break policy". I think it has been more random and definitely quite inconsistent, and given the number of BBY stores and the spread of members' residences I would be surprised if we were all going to a select few. BBY has opened up their price match policy since late last year. This is a corporate directive, and I believe some stores are interpreting it differently than others.

I went to two stores within 10 miles of each other here in the Dallas suburbs. One fought me on the policy and the other was a no questions asked price match ($2599).
