Panasonic VT50 Deals - Page 57

I'm holding out to buy a VT50 60" in the near future. Kind of waiting on just how much further prices will drop before inventory starts becoming scare and the price starts jumping back up like it did around March last year in some places for the V30's. My quastion or rather request is if more posters who are actively working on deals or have just landing there's, please post areas, even specific Best Buys/Pauls, etc that you're dealing with. I live in the Huntinton Beach, CA area by the 405 freeway and usually go to the Westminster Mall store, the South Coast Plaza and Lake Forest stores and am specifically interested in specifics in dealing with key people at those stores.

Just browsed through the slickdeals site and it appears Adorama has a sale, Panasonic 65vt50 for $2399 and the 55vt50 for $1599 with free shipping.

Is anyone buying a 3rd party warranty with or in addition to your buy, like SquareTrade?
I noticed in Consumer Reports that Panasonic has the fewest repairs @ 2%!!!
I figure we have 2 years already, the first with Panasonic and the 2nd with your credit card.

The BB at Westminister Mall would not PM Adorama price for 55". The salesman was friendly but the store manager said 'no way'. It was still a good experience because the salesman really likes the VT50 and explained a lot about the tv.
The BB in Long Beach, the old WOW center at PCH and 2nd st. did price match Adorama without blinking an eye. Again, the salesman was good and I had a good feeling about what I was buying.

Got my 65VT50 from Pauls and all is great, especially the delivery guys were a father and son and the did a super job.

Unfortunately, on bright parts of the screen, I see flickering, similar to when I see rainbows on DLP. Anybody else see this? Other than that the colors and blacks look fantastic. Does it go away after break-in or anything? Also are there any good break-in guides?

That sucks! The only good news is the VT50 has been seen with sub $2400 pricing lately. I take it you don't have renters insurance or any other way to recover the loss? Was yours the only apartment hit? Any suspects?

Wow dude that sucks! frown.gif . We have had a couple break ins around me lately so it kind of scares me as well. Is your insurance going to cover it?

So I originally got an incredible deal on my 65VT50 from Best Buy but am wondering about the Adorama price match. I got my TV for $2500 + free 3D glasses + free Avatar BD. To give me the items for free, they deducted those prices (80+30) from the price of the TV so on my receipt it shows I only paid $2390. The Adorama price of $2400 is slightly above the tv "price" on my receipt so they can't price match that directly but I am wondering if I would have any luck getting them to "match" the $2400 instead of $2500 and then deducting the prices of the free items. It's probably greedy of me to try and do that and I highly doubt they would do it since the $2400 is probably just about what their cost is (not sure though).

Would you guys try and get the extra $100 back?

You can always try. It sounds like they went above and beyond the Adorama PM though. I would look at what you already have as a victory.

Finally pulled the trigger on the 55VT50 a couple days ago at Best Buy for $1699--sale runs through today. I've been wanting a VT series for a few years now to replace a Sony 34XBR970 that just won't die, but the wife agreed to the VT50. I'll keep looking on AVS to find the 100 hour break-in procedure so I can start running it tomorrow after I've picked up the TV. Can't wait to watch the Super Bowl on this baby!!

Some one posted about a week ago regarding a tip when you sign for your tv, to write on the invoice about "only accepting on finding hidden damage"?
I tried searching this thread and the vt50 owners thread.
My 65vt50 should be delivered today, so here's hopeing I don't get a lemon.


Update: Ok I found it, it's post #8919 in the vt50 owners thread by Randy Walters.

Only question is, does that supersede the agreement you are signing, or are you just stating that you never looked inside the box before signing. Your safest bet would be to refuse to sign until you inspect. The delivery guys might get a little irritated, but I am pretty sure they would rather wait around than take the box back. In the end, they can't expect you to sign that you have inspected the contents if you have not. I'd be interested to hear what a lawyer might have to say. I know there are a few that lurk around AVS, if they can hear me....

I've always been able to strike up a friendly conversation with the delivery team and set the tone for an amicable process. Of course, once they provide great service I insist on a tip, "paying for their lunch" or something along those lines.

Any luck on finding that procedure? I'm interested as well because I get mine delivered by BB tomorrow. I've been telling my wife the same thing about the Super Bowl, but I can't seem to get her as excited...

Went to a BB today that had the Panasonic 3D glasses in stock and brought the last 4 pair up to the service desk and had my printout from Sears showing them on sale for $29.99 and they price matched it after a little investigating on their computers.

Saved $200 today Need to go to another BB now with them in stock (omg I'm turning into my wife with this shopping with coupons crap eek.gif )

Went into my local BB earlier this afternoon and ordered the 55vt50 since I've been drooling over this since it's release. Didn't want to bother with trying to squeak out another $100 to PM Adorama since I didn't figure it was worth the troubles. Still a pretty darn good price@1699. I tossed around the idea if I really wanted to take the chance and order it online, and have to deal with the cold temps Minnesota has right now.

Question regarding extended warranty, is it best to go through SquareTrade rather than BB on this? Looks like BB wanted $400 for 4 years, as ST wants $200, so it seems like a nobrainer, but wanted some opinions.

I do believe I'll eventually have BB mount it, as I'm not that handy when it comes to drilling and hanging stuff. Figured I'd let the "pros" do it, and if anything happens, it's on BB, and not me.

There was a guy picking up the 65vt50 right in front of me and the "Store Pickup" location, and jesus is the box huge!!! I hope the 55 will fit into my Acura MDX alright. I guess if not, then I'll have them deliver it for free.

I want to give a big thanks to everyone on this thread for their helpful posts.

I just got back from BB with $300 credited back to my card. I originally purchased the VT50 on Thanksgiving weekend for $2699, no tax, plus 3X rewards points. Today, I brought in a copy of the adorama ad and a printout from Panasonic's website of the authorized panny retailers, which listed adoroma as one of them. The girl at customer service gave me no trouble at all, telling me she just needed sign-off from her manager. The manager came over, looked at the add and started shaking his head before flatly saying no. I told them that when i originally purchased the TV, the sales person told me that they'd price match against any panny retailers. I then showed him the list and he said there was no way he would sell me the TV for $1100. When I pointed out that the $1100 was the dollar amount off the original price and that the sale price was $2,399 he said that was fine.

Factoring in the rewards points, I purchased this TV for roughly $2,245.

The exact same thing happened to me- including the same mistake by the manager of thinking the TV was selling for $1100. When I pointed out the sale price was $2399, he said "oh- no problem"

I wonder if we went to the same store?

I think that the warranty at Best Buy covers burn in whereas the others don't, but yoiu should check to be sure. I'm having the same thought as you being in Minnesota, I'm not sure whether i want to order through Amazon with my rewards card and have to deal with a shipping company and the cold or get it at best buy and pick it up. I am still waiting to try and get a lower price but honestly I don't know how much longer I can hold off. My 10 year old Sony rp lcd is working fine but I know the picture leaves alot to be desired.

I went in today with my stuff and they did it and gave me 547 back. Nice they matched the adorma price. All I provided was the pdf for adorama and the slickdeals.net and just in case I had the paper showing they were panasonic authorized reseller. I also had other places such as east coast and buytv lined up as well. I pushed the issue that I bought 600 dollar warranty from them and that other people didn't. He said he agreed and got it done. Thank you for the advice everyone and I appreciate the nice quality tv as well.
