I was too tired to deal with it anymore, so figured I'd just give the business to EE rather than continue to try to get a pricematch, so I went ahead and ordered from EE. I figure at least I know that since amazon does pricematch the site, it isn't a scam site.

65VT50 is ordered and hopefully on it's way soon--in any case whether through amazon or EE, we're getting a great TV at a pretty great price! So psyched--now the countdown to delivery begins!!!

Wow!!! That is total BS on Amazon part about a promo code. Nowhere in their policy does it say the promo codes disqualify a price match. You should have challenged them to show where in their policy this is stated. Very disappointed to hear Amazon would act that way for a legit price match. I'm now interested to know if anyone was able to get it price matched at Amazon. Anyway, you were still able to get the the television at a great price. Congrats!!

Totally Agree--I'm actually a lawyer and I DID challenge them to show me this language, and they really couldn't. Honestly, the most frustrating thing was the CS Supervisor I was talking to couldn't even properly add the tv to his cart at EE's website to see the price. He was actually being really nice and patient and kept trying to do it, even offering to call me back, but I cut to the chase and said, look, even when you do it, you'll only see the price before the promo code, plus shipping, right? And you won't enter the promo code? And he confirmed that, and said yep, you'll definitely save a couple hundred dollars buying from EE. I said fine, that's what I'll do. When a company tells me that, I don't know what else to say at that point.

Anyway, TV should be shipping today from EE I believe...thanks!! I would be curious if others also ran into this problem with Amazon.

Best prices i found for the 55" VT50

6/3/12 Amazon $2000.75 Free enhanced shipping (price shows in cart)
6/4/12 Electronics Expo $18.95 - 5% off (SPRING5) + $129.99 shipping = $1931.14
6/5/12 Best Buy $1999.99 + tax and recycle fee (price shows at checkout)
6/5/12 PaulsTV $1844.99 + tax (Free shipping)

That sucks that Amazon will not PM with the coupon code. They should as it is not stated in their policy that they cannot price match with a competitors coupon. Maybe if you try several times you'll get a more amicable sales manager. FYI BB/Magnolia does not pricematch etailers but YMMV. Coupon code FSORG does not work on EE.

Daddy's day is almost here so I have a feeling that prices will be more competitive (aka lower) soon. Can someone verify pricing for the 55" VT50 on the EPP site?

Cashback:
Amazon (2% with Amazon Chase Visa or buy Amazon gift cards at Safeway & get 5% CB with Chase Freedom)
EE (3% Mr. Rebates)
BB (5% Shop Discover)
PaulsTV (3% Ebates)

Just a follow up, Amazon will match, but with the caveat that Amazon's shipping is -- in Amazon's opinion -- a cut above. The best number they'd give me was $2973, shipped via their normal TV shipping method.

The woman on the phone was charming and polite, which goes a long way in these matters. That said, it took several days and was -- of course -- no better of a price.

From what I've seen in the thread, Cleveland Plasma is awfully close to that price delivered and obviously, Electronics Expo is slightly better than the Amazon number. It depends, therefore, how much one values buying from Amazon.

I've read somewhere on Slickdeals or Fatwallet a while back that Amazon would argue that their shipping is white glove and that they will PM only if the item your PMing with from the competitor is shipping via white glove. Free standard shipping on other merchants could only be curbside shipping which is less than Amazon's free enhanced shipping.

Is EE a reputable store to by the TV from?
Can someone comment please?
Thanks

Again, they did price match, but they added about $100 for their "white glove"-type shipping. That's what they will do. It seems fair, to be honest.

I would say yes, Electronics Expo is a reputable store to buy from. That said, I'm unsure about their return/exchange policy. I know that Cleveland Plasma will work with you if there's a problem as will Value Electronics. And among majors, Amazon has a best-in-the-business exchange/return policy for online purchasing.

I can't comment on EE in that regard. But as for reputable? Yes, they are more than reputable.

I wonder if Cleveland Plasma would cut me a deal if I purchased more than one unit? Heck I wonder if anyone would do that for me.

It all comes down to the CS rep you get. I'm sure if you kept pushing, you would have eventually got them to price match. Though it would have probably cost you $100 more due to their "white glove" service. In the end, you got the TV you wanted at a great price.

Thanks for the follow up. I know I've read ppl getting that "white glove" charge waived. It just depends on how much time/effort you want to spend fighting them. I can understand them wanting to charge extra for the service but not giving you a choice between regular shipping and "white glove" is BS. Did you keep the order with Amazon?

That does not fly with Amazon, been there done that. They merely say they cannot price-match a local pick-up price, since they have to incorporate the shipping fees.
I just ordered the Panasonic TC-P55VT50 from "buybestdisplays.com" not to be confused with Bestbuy. This is owned by a guy named Roman who I have ordered from in the past and had good service. He was very active in the AVS forum. No Tax, Free Shipping for $1849.00 !! Best deal out there, check it out !!

Does Cleveland Elect. charge tax? Really been waiting to see what the best price will be, hope to get it for around $18XX shipped for an 55VT50

Ok. In store pick up is a B&M thing and they are only matching online retailers, so I guess it makes sense.

I would assume tax is charged only if your located in Ohio. If your out of state then no sales tax.

I know you have purchased from him in the past but you should look at his reviews before you recommend him to others. He has turned into a scam site and customer service has gone out the window. When someone starts slashing prices like that you it is because they rely on price to su... I mean entice people.cool.gif

For those who qualify, you can buy the 65VT50 for $2775 (from Panasonic EPP) - 5% Cashback from Discover Card + tax (where applicable). Shipping appears to be free. So that makes it ~ $2636 + tax? Is that good?

You have to link to the Panasonic site from the discovercard website to get the 5% Cashback. Just login to your Discovercard account and go from there.

The 55VT50 is now $1968 on Amazon right now. They have to be price matching someone with this price. I didn't think the vt50 would drop below two grand before the holiday season.
^^^ Neither did I. Now I'm tormented since I am still within the 30 days on my 60GT50.

Hi, couldn't find it. Which credit card is it under?
Like some of you mentioned, I could get it from Amazon for $2,973.02.

Amazon price matched the TC-P65VT50 to electronics-expo to $2,673.03.

HOWEVER they said they include "Enhanced Delivery" aka white glove service to the price of the TV so the lowest they were willing to go was $2,973.02. They said electronics expo charges $299.99 for white glove delivery service.

I have an Amazon CC so with triple points I get an extra $50 or so off. I decided to go with them.

Thank you Colmo for the heads up on the deal!

EE charges $200 for regular delivery, so I have no problem believing Amazon's claim that EE would charge $300 for "white glove", assuming they offer. Similarly, I have no problem with Amazon requiring an extra $100 for a clearly superior shipping option.

Just an FYI from Amazon, just refreshed my shopping cart, logged on a few hours ago, and there's since been a price drop.

Please note that the price of Panasonic VIERA TC-P65VT50 65-Inch 1080p Full HD 3D Plasma TV has decreased from $3,619.98 to $3,199.99 since you placed it in your Shopping Cart. Items in your cart will always reflect the most recent price displayed on their product detail pages.

Looks like a good price for those of us that don't have access to Panasonic EPP.

It is a good price, but not as good as the above-mentioned $2973.... FROM AMAZON.

FYI - Best Buy has the 55 on sale for 1999.99 on their website. That's where I bought mine, so I'll have them refund the 200.00 difference.

This is lowest price I have seen as well. One thing I do not know about EPP purchase is if the delivery inside your house/white glove shipping or is it just dropping off in front of your door.

Amazon's or any other white-glove delivery is worth premium for me- I live on the 2nd floor with only stair access mad.gif I had previously purchased ST30 from Amazon and shipping folks (Ceva) did a great job.

I bought my 55VT50 from Amazon last Saturday for $2000, had them PM Paulstv.com for $1899 on Monday, then PM'd Paul's last night at $1844. Absolutely no pushback.

Delivery scheduled for tomorrow!

Amazon is telling me $2,895.00.
