Its been that price at Pauls for at least a week now, plus no tax.

I just got BB to price match my 65 inch VT50 with the Adorama $2399 flier. It's still worth a shot. If you're in Chicago, it's the one on Elston. Just print it up and you're good to go.

I wonder if BB will honor $1599 Amazon price match...

I'd guess a definite yes on that. Amazon is on Best Buy's list of Designated Major Online Retailers for price matching.

Just got a PM with BuyTVToday at local BB, 3rd one i have tried in 3 days...they matched it for $2449, cancelled my Pauls order, tax wud be covered by free calibration. So I spent 2500+ at BB today, wud that make me a silver member extending my return/pricematch to 60 days effective today? Just a bit confused, but all in all very very happy with BB customer service in Lewisville, TX.

You don't qualify for Premier Silver status until the points post to your Reward Zone account 35 days after the transaction date.

BuyTVToday's current price is $2399...you could have gotten that price matched. Still can, probably. Just go back and ask for a refund of the difference.

It is $2500 pre-tax within the calendar year. So unless you have made any purchases since January 1st, you have just a little bit more to go. It kicks in ~35 days after the 2500th dollar is spent though, as Daniel said above.

From the wording on the Reward Zone site and from what I have been told by two different stores' employees (not always the best source, I know), some benefits (extended return/price match period, for example) of Silver premier status does NOT apply to purchases made prior to reaching that status. I asked because I got my 65VT50 price matched down to $2280 pre tax and thought if I made additional purchases to get back to 2500 points, I would enjoy the 60-day return period.

I just went to the Paul's TV web site, added the 65" VT50 to the cart, and tried the code "Save500" and got a message that the code is invalid. I did the same thing this past Wednesday (Jan 23) it worked fine. So it appears the Paul's TV code for $500 off this TV is done. I also tried the code for $400 off and that is invalid as well.

DOH!

I asked my local Magnolia/BB guy how many the regional distribution center had in inventory (MD/DC area). They have 106 of the 65VT50's. I went and bought a second one at the BTTtoday price for my daughter and son-in-law because their local BB store wouldn't match BTToday either. Paul's was a slam dunk, but they ran into the same wall that Indieman did on the BTToday deal. The Magnolia guy also told me that $2400 - $2500 would likely be the lowest price during model year end closeout. No idea if he has any insight or just making me feel good!

YEah I took BuyTvToday's ad with BBB rating thanks to Indieman, the CSR was super nice, and most knowledgable of all the BB CSRs i have ever encountered, he took it to his manager, spent 15 minutes convincing him, came back and told that manager doesnt think buytvtoday is Legit, but he found anotehr website for the manager that has it for 2449, and manager agreed,,,I have no idea wat that site was, but 2449 seems a very fair price as I wanted to give that CSR my business,,,hell I wud have agreed at 2500 too

That is bad news i was hoping for a 60 days PM window, but as per my magnolia salesman, they really dont care when u became a silver member, and wud consider tv as under 60 days PM/return window, however he sounded only 10-20% sure on this, I wud take ur word over his Thanks for the info.

The relationship should be build date to "buzz level" because there is no guarantee that Amazon is using a perfect FIFO inventory strategy. They seem to be sending late model builds, but that's not guaranteed.

It seems like buzzing hasn't been an issue for several months now and has been discussed quite a bit already. Certainly understand your desire to get a perfect set though.

Yep, the code/deal is gone. To add insult to injury, Pauls has jacked up the price back up to $3,299. So it's basically $800 more expensive then it was a day ago. Several of their other Plasmas have gone up in price today as well. It's possible that due to Superbowl weekend coming up, Pauls along with other retailers are taking advantage of a (small?) uptick in business on people wanting to have a new flatscreen for the game.

For the Pauls SAVE400 deal on the Vt50 55in I printed out the cart with the coupon code yesterday and took it in today and they accepted it. Just fyi i paid 1599 for the 55 in vt50 no tax or shipping and they also price matched the amazon price for the 3d glasses and did no tax on that as well.

Assuming you meant Best Buy gift cards, yes. You get rewards points when you purchase gift cards, just not when you use them to pay for your purchases.

Drove to BB a couple hours ago and did get them to match Amazon's $1599 price on the 55VT50. Customer service rep said they will match prices on goods sold and shipped by Amazon, not third party sellers. So I feel like I got a really good deal on my VT50.

For the life of me I can't get BB to match Paul's 65" VT50 price. I've not only tried two stores where I am in Northern California, but one right next to Paul's in Irvine. Tomorrow I'm pulling the trigger on this beauty with Paul's. The heck with BB. Thanks for all the info folks.

You waited too long, Paul's 65VT50 sale is over. It's all about the 65GT50's now.

Looks like u waited too long....Pauls deal is dead, new price 3299, no coupons. I would suggest use eastcoasttv.com, buytvtoday.com or adorama's flier and give 1-2 more BBs a shot, I got lucky on my 4th try. Good Luck!

I bought kindle GCs which can be used on anything at amazon.com.

Bought a 65VT50 from BB (currently running the slides) I was going to wall-mount it over the fireplace but with the stud layout a standard 24" mount plate won't attach to 2 studs (and be close to centered... they put one stud in the center, and the others are 16" o.c.) so I'm considering returning the wall-mount and getting a stand.

This brings me to my question (finally) would there be ANY difference if I downgraded to a 55VT50 and ended up sitting a foot or two closer? Or I could ask is sitting 8.1' away from a 65VT50 the same as sitting 6.8' away from a 55VT50 I would think not, but did want to get an opinion before doing it.

Skeet, thanks....boy, am I glad I got mine when I did. It arrived yesterday and I have started the breakin period. Will post results of BB calibration in a month or so.
Also, whwalton, I would personally not go down to the 55 inch if you had the 8 foot distance but I guess that is a personal preference. If sitting closer allowed for more optimal placement of surrounds as in 7.1 etc then the 55 would certainly start looking a lot better, else stick with the 65. I just ordered a Sanus tilt mount VMPL3B from Amazon for $115 plus $12 shipping and that should definitely work in most conditions and you can center your tv even if the studs are off center (which is one of the reasons I picked it over the Monoprice). TV over the fireplace looks awesome (my old one was up there and the new one will be by next week! I would never want to go to a stand (as long as you wont have wires dangling down and they are buried inside your drywall). Just my two cents.
