Panasonic VT50 Deals - Page 72

I was thinking of jumping on Paul's deal, but since the VT60 is coming in in April (55-60") and May (65") I am probably gonna wait for a price drop. I think my price point is $2k for the 65" VT50.

You guys think that is a reasonable price drop expectation?

FYI - My 65" VT50 arrived today. As promised by Paul's, this is a November 2012 build and delivery guys were awesome. I threw them a few extra bucks to assist with stand and stuff but they were great. My Sony Grand Wega 60" from 2004 is now stored in the garage for one of my kids places and this new TV is absolutely blowing me away. Have only watched about an hour but the wow factor is most certainly present.

There is zero buzzing and I find the volume of the TV speakers to be excellent; even louder than what I'd listen to it at, although I will use my stereo for DVD's and such.

I changed the video from "standard" to "THX Cinema" and love it. The "THX bright" is way too bright for my space.

To the extent one can love a thing, I am loving this thing ;p

Will report back after trying out 3D and having more time with the set.

Cudos to Paul's for a flawless experience and awesome price. High praise from my salesman, John Kim (949) 596 – 8335

UPDATE: Tried the 3D and find it very cool and working extremely well. Player is OPPO 95

Cheers -CC

Good to hear man! I don't think I could deal with having an issue like that, even if I didn't use the output.

You might be able to negotiate the price of an open-box 65vt50 that low. Not sure if a new 65VT50 will break $2k

When he said $1497, I broke out my iPhone to see how much I could bring him down but didn't see any deals like this... This includes free delivery tomorrow in time for the SB!

Anyone know how to get that $1497 price? The only coupon I can get to work is the SAVE400 and that makes it like $1599...

I would say it is unlikely. As said above though, you could probably get an open box deal that low. Especially a display model.

Call them. I missed out on the last "Save500" code window last week but called and the salesman still gave me the sub $2,500 price on the VT50 65" tv even though the online price **** up to $3,200+ with no discounts. I would bet that all you need to do is mention the sub-$1,500 price for the 55" at the retail store and they'll give it to you over the phone if you place the order with the sales rep.

Save500 still works for both 55 and 65 VT50:

This time it says good through Feb. 7, but I bet they will renew it then, just like last time - unless the stock is depleted.

I went to ABT to purchase the VT65 and it was on sale for $3299 and before I even asked, they dropped the price to $3k. ABT has a box on there screen so they can check other websites prices automatically, I think the sales person saw that it was lower somewhere else and that is why he dropped it to $3k.

Luckily I came here last night and checked this thread and saw the Paul's deal. I called ABT and asked them to price match, they did with very little hassle. Just had to prove that Paul's is an authorized pansonic dealer and they are. For those trying to price match at BB, it's probably worth bring to a print out from pansonic's website that Paul's is an autorized retailer. May help support getting the discount.

Anyway, ABT price matched the $2500 and the TV is still set to be delivered Saturday. Can't wait.

Thanks everyone for maknig it easy to find the pauls deal.

Hi guys,

Not sure how to get the $1497 price online, I just went into the Paul's TV store in Avon, MA... Usually, I've done research, but in this case I just lucked out. This is the 55 inch of course. I'm running the slides now, about 36 hours so far, but I've also watched some mixed content avoiding static logos and letterbox...

Regarding the warranty, I purchased a panel protection insurance, not an extended warranty, through Paul's TV which covers damage to the panel. This is due to my experience of my 3 year old son destroying my last Panasonic plasma by throwing a toy at it.... mad.gif

Any chance you could actually verify that it works on a 55 inch when you add it to the cart?

Hmm, it seems not. Only save400 works on a 55 inch. I guess if you call them and mention the coupon page, they probably will honor the discount.
It didn't work for me, though I do see the 55VT50 in the SAVE 500 coupon ad. My cart shows $1599.

Just call John Kim (949) 596 – 8335 at Paul's. Tell him Gary who just bought the 65" VT50 sent you from AVS and he'll take care of you.

Did you get White Glove delivery as well? Just wondering why you didn't order from Paul's. I could understand if ABT beat the price. I am a long time customer of ABT and have bought projector, 2 plasmas, a pre-pro and some other items, but in the last year find them to be no longer competitive. I called on this tv as well and they would not match the White Glove delivery. I wanted to upgrade my pre-pro and they weren't in the ball park.

Hmm, I wonder if there's anyway for Amazon to price match that if they call and verify... I have $778 in gift cards over at Amazon and was about to pull the trigger on a price matched 50GT50 at $999 but boy if I could get a 55VT50 for $1500 that would rock....
Was trying to figure a way too.
I'm about to pull the trigger on a P55VT50 and Paul's TV has it for 1999, then with a coupon code, it drops to 1599. Now, I would like to pay it 18-24 months installments but I'm not sure if Paul's TV offers that. Do you guys know if Paul's TV has payment plans?

Also, does BestBuy price match Paul's TV? The reason I'm asking is because on bestbuy.com, under the FAQ for price match guarantee it says :

Appliance and electronics hardware products available in both Best Buy stores and BestBuy.com qualify for the Low Price Guarantee. For these products Best Buy will match the new, identical, immediately available current pre-tax price from Designated Major Online Retailers and at local retail competitor's store.

and then it says :

For the above promotions, the Designated Major Online Retailers are: Amazon.com, Apple.com, Bhphotovideo.com, Buy.com, CircuitCity.com, CompUSA.com, Crutchfield.com, Dell.com, hhgregg.com, HP.com, HomeDepot.com, Lowes.com, Newegg.com, OfficeDepot.com, OfficeMax.com, Sears.com, Staples.com, Target.com, TigerDirect.com, and Walmart.com.

Paul's TV isn't one of them. But I've seen guys here where they have successfully asked BB to price match retailers not on the above list.

Any advise is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hey guys, I've been roaming the threads here for a while, and love the community.

Just pulled the trigger at Paul's TV. Got the 55VT50 for $1540, with free white glove delivery and no sales tax (even in CA!) Tried calling John Kim direct as China Cat mentioned, but went to his voicemail. So, I spoke with a rep named Jared who was very helpful and cleared up some questions about price we have discussed on here.

Brought up the $1497 price from the store in MA, but as I'm located in CA, the manager didn't go for it. But I found a way to get close.

Jared specified that the $500 off is for the 65", the $400 off is for the 55", so using save400, I got it for 1604.99 (Including the $5 waste fee). I did some research on the cashback sites and found Ebates gives 4% cashback at PaulsTV. So, that was another savings of $64 (that ebates will PayPal within a month or so.) So after cashback, got the TV for $1540. SO glad I didn't pull the trigger on the ST or GT on amazon last week to stay within my price point.

So BEFORE you purchase it, click through ebates to Pauls for the 4%. Hopefully this info will help you guys. And if you do decide to use the 4% cashback through Ebates (and don't already have an account) follow the link below, and I get a small kickback.
Ebates.com

One thing with ebates or any cashback site... Once you click through their site to Pauls, don't surf anywhere else before buying the TV to make sure it links for you. I always clean out my cart and internet history/cookies before doing it, just to be sure.

Can't wait to mount this thing, hopefully get it calibrated, and see what I've been missing with my Sony DLP it's replacing. smile.gif Can't thank you guys enough for the contributions here on AVSforum, and if you want to speak with the rep I spoke with at Paul's, here's his info:

Thanks!

The only thing I can think of is using the SAVE400 coupon code that still works on the 55VT50. However, I'm even little worried on that since it isn't listed on the coupon page any more and instead says "Call now for low price" or whatever. I figure Amazon would match it during a live chat if I told them the coupon code and they were able to toss it in the cart to see the final price, but I can't figure out about the phone call. I have no idea if Paul'sTV will email a quote showing the $1497 price (if I was able to get that over the phone) and if Amazon would look at a recent (same day or +1 or 2 days) old email quote and price match on that...

Finally, Pauls lists a "Pay with Amazon" but I'm still not sure if that option would USE up amazon giftcards first or if it's just somewhere familiar where you can plug in your credit card to pay Pauls.

Oh well, even the $1599 "Save400" TV is pretty good... but that now $600 more then the 50 inch GT50 I almost bought which is starting to hurt...

From what I can tell, it sounds like Pauls only has their 6 month financing program:
http://www.paulstv.com/financing.asp

Under their FAQ, the portion about Financing reads:
We have multiple financing offers available for in-store purchases only. All you have to do is come by the store, sign up for our Paul's TV charge card, get approved, and take advantage of our free delivery* service and we can finance any purchase that you make.

As for the Best Buy question, from what I've read on these forums, it seems like if you catch the right manager at the right time at BB, they'll match Pauls.
Well, I called Paul's TV earlier and spoke with a rep and asked if they would price match their in store price of $1,497....no luck (for the 55VT50). The manager said that price is for in store only or shipping within 20 miles. Bummer, I was going to pull the trigger! I guess I misread some prior posts thinking that price was shipped as well. I know, $1599 is still good, but would have been nice to save another $100 bucks.
UPDATE : i called BB and spoke with a rep and asked him to PM paul's TV at 1599 w/ the 400 coupon. he said he can't match coupons. i told him he just needs to match the final price. he had the 55VT50 priced at 1799. he spoke with a manager and in the background i heard something like "yeah, that's fine". the guy then said yes, they'll PM it at 1599. i had to pay sales tax but i put it on my BB card for a 24 month installment. i'm fine with that. total is 1731.99.

creativechops: you are right, it seems the key is catching the right manager at the right time.

I can't wait for them to deliver the TV on saturday.

thanks everyone here for all your generous and selfless sharing of tips. this forum is the best!

Thank you buytvtoday, thank you Best Buy. Another $50 back in my pocket today. My 65VT50 is now down to $2349 thanks to price matching..

I qualified for Reward Zone Premier Silver status a few days ago and a $100 RZ certificate has been issued. I need to go read about what happens if my qualifying purchase history drops below $2500...one more price match and I'm there. I had better go spend my certificate quickly! ;-)

I did go back yesterday and got them to price match again at $1499 for the pauls tv across the street. They called over and verified it with pauls over the phone. biggrin.gif

$1799.98 is the current in-store price for all stores. It went up on 2/3 from $1699.98. I have also verified that price at location 419(Salem) in our internal system. It is possible that they haven't updated the tag in a while. If you happen to be in there again, just mention they may want to reprint it. Feel free to PM me who you were working with.

I got my open box price down to $1850. That was with no remotes, stand, box, instructions, batteries, etc... just the TV. When they found out the TV was still in "service mode", they sold me the same TV with everything but the box included for the $1850 price. From what I understand, the cost of a new 65VT50 for BB is approx $2100. When you purchase an open box, they're essentially losing money on the deal... I'd see if you could get them down to at least $1900 if it's an open box at BB.
