Just got off the phone with BB RZ customer service and this is what I found out:

Just scheduled my free calibration that I was entitled to at the time of TV purchase, (because I spent over $2500 at the time of purchase which made me a silver rewards zone member).

As a silver rewards member I'm also entitled to 60 days of return of the TV from the original date of purchase.

As a silver rewards memeber I'm also entitled to 60 days of price matching from the original date of purchase.

This is according to the terms. When did you make the purchase that put you over $2500?

December 28th, 2012. It appears that we're both right then? So by not being a Silver-classed RZ member I'm good to return it up until the 30th day. If I keep it past the 35th day (approx.) thru the 60th day I'm good to return it during that time period. It's the just the 30-35th day that remains in limbo? I can deal with that.

I'm headed back this weekend with the 55" and getting the 65". $2495 at Pauls still the best price I should be bringing them to price match?

Hi nenarek, I try searching on Amazon and can't find "online price match form" to fill out. Can you direct me where to look, thanks.

I don't think that's how it works. That said, they will probably just allow 60 days to anyone that is currently a silver member. There is always the technical definition, and then there is the way things actually are...biggrin.gif

It says earlier in the terms that points are awarded in approximately 35 days. 35 days probably being that absolute longest time it would take to have your points applied to your account. You become a silver member when that 2500th point is actually applied.

I got the 65" from best buy today for $2475. I went in wanting the GT, which they didn't have. I told him about the deal at PaulsTV, he told he could give me the VT for $2475. I jumped on it..

Unfortunately, I don't doubt that you were told that. I just want to make sure people know what the terms actually say. If it ever comes time to dispute anything, it's the terms that matter, not what you were told. This happens all the time at retail stores. Employees don't fully understand the rules, but instead of looking them up they just go with what they are told, no doubt by someone else who doesn't really understand them. This is not specific to BBY.

Well I couldn't bring myself to paying the extra for the VT50 and just ordered a 50GT50!!! I *should* have it on the 18th! Quick question, how do I submit a price match on Amazon? They said you'll see a "found lower price" after I check out but I can't find that link anywhere.... Do I have to wait for it to ship before that link shows up? I want to price match Paul's SAVE140 coupon to make it $999 down from $1349.

"You can request a refund for the price difference through the "Found a lower price?" button on your Order Summary page in Your Account. If you have questions or concerns, use the "Contact Us" button on the right side of any Help page to contact Customer Service about the TV Low Price Guarantee."

According to their help page. I would just contact them if you can't find it. Also, your card may not be fully cleared yet so it might not show up until then.

Figured this was the relevant thread to ask:

Does Paul's TV deliver to central Iowa? Thinking I may likely order a 65'' vt50 soon, and wondering which business can deliver out here in the sticks, as well as which business is to be most trusted to do so.

I'm not educated on how to check a unit out for damage or defects, but since I'm 90 minutes from the nearest big box store (most of which do NOT have the 65'' vt50) delivery seems appealing.

Assuming one of those is a Best Buy, you should be able to order the 65VT and have it delivered. There may be an additional fee for the distance though. You could always order it there and pick it up in person as well.

Thanks, I ended up calling them and working it out on the phone. He actually said the card wasn't charged yet and just changed it to $999.99 on my order review page so that will be the price it charges the card... well, kinda of, since I had enough Amazon gift cards saved up that my actual total after tax was $321!!

I haven't ever taken delivery on a Plasma either, how do I go about checking to make sure it's ok? Will the deliver guys prompt me to do it or do I have to be forceful and hold them there till it's inspected? It's going downstairs and I'm not sure I'll have the room ready in time or if they'll bring it downstairs. Do I just pull it out of the box and plug it in real fast on the dinning room table or set it on the floor? confused.gif

I just don't want them to get me to sign it and rush off and then I have an issue or DOA and Amazon refuses to exchange or anything because I already signed for it :-/

Is it better to grab a closeut 65GT50 or wait for the everyday discounted price on one of the 2013 sets?

• TC-PZT60 series (65 and 60 inches) Panasonic's 2013 flagship promises "Beyond the Reference" picture quality, with an all-new Studio Master panel that has the thinnest gas layer yet, which the company says will remove dim and double images. There's a newly developed red phosphor, faster switching than ever, THX certification for both 2D and 3D, and improved 3D performance -- namely less crosstalk -- according to Panasonic. I called the VT50 the best TV of 2012 and one of the best ever, and I expect great things from the ZT60's picture.

• TC-PVT60 series (55, 60, 65 inches) Numerically this one looks like the successor to the VT50, and I expect it to have similar picture quality. The only mentions of picture quality in Panasonic's early press release are THX certification and better motion resolution than the 2012 version.

• TC-PST60 series (50, 55, 60, 65 inches) In name and feature set, Panasonic's cheapest 3D-capable plasma series looks like the successor to our favorite TV of 2012, the Panasonic ST50. It has an Infinite Black Pro panel and might not quite match the motion resolution of the VT and ZT models (it has a "2500 Focused Field Drive" versus their 3000), nor their black-level performance, but should still be pretty great. As with the other two 3D series, the company is also including two pairs of active 3D glasses. Pricing was not announced, and it'll be interesting to see whether this series can match the excellent value of its predecessor.

• TC-PS60 series (42, 50, 55, 60, 65 inches) In Panasonic's 1080p non-3D series, I expect the picture quality to match that of the excellent U50 models, which were also great values.

• TC-PX60 series (42 and 50 inches) This looks like a clone of last year's X5 series, which was disappointing, to say the least.

Thanks in advance.

Amazon will cover any problems you have within the return policy regardless of whether or not you sign off on the delivery, so don't worry too much about that. It's really just a matter of convenience in case you get a DOA set. If you can just refuse the shipment, the process can move a little faster.

Just as a disclaimer, if you live in an area that gets cold you really shouldn't test the TV out for a few hours after you receive it. So if that's the case, just ignore the following.

As for checking it out, you might have to ask the delivery team to stay, since they may not offer to. Just have a spot ready to set it with a source ready to test it out, doesn't really matter if it is on the floor or not. You don't want to be running around looking for your HDMI cable while the delivery team waits. If you get a picture, it looks normal and the unit has no physical damage you are good to sign off on it. Just be mindful that the delivery team does not want to sit there while you run slides or picture test discs. The idea is to make sure you don't have a DOA set. Remember, Amazon will cover you if you have any other issues.

That the issue, I don't really have room anywhere upstairs with a source and I'm not sure if they'll want to trek downstairs with the unit even if I have the spot all set up. Also, it's not terrible cold but it is around 45F during the day time, would that be "cold" for the TV and should I let it sit a bit?

I don't really mind taking a few extra days having to send a DOA unit back (crossing fingers that it doesn't happen!) but I just want to make sure there isn't a big fight on "Sir, you signed off on accepting the TV, we don't know if this was accidental damage after the deliver guys left" or some crap...

But I would honestly feel more comfortable letting it warm up to room temp and taking it downstairs at my own time and slowly setting it up and getting the source configured and everything.

I believer Speakerphile's answer fits your situation perfectly. Do whatever you are comfortable with knowing BBY will take care of you if and when you find out there is an issue with your panel. Chances are there won't be. I don't see that you have much to worry about.

And that's probably what I'll do. If the box looks slightly beat up I'll inspect it but I don't think I'll fuss with getting a source makeshift setup upstairs and all. I know I won't be asking for a refund just exchange at the most so I figure Amazon SHOULD work with me on that if it comes down to it.

Now the big question, would 40 to 50F outside (30F over night) be too cold on the delivery day to start using it right away? I figure it'll be sitting in a warehouse over night since it looks like I'll have a Monday delivery but if it gets to me in the afternoon then outside temps will have hit mid to high 40s.

I couldn't agree more. Thanks for trying to help me/us weed through the bureaucracy of the Bestbuy Reward Zone system.

Just a heads up, and hopefully the team can help me out here. The Pauls TV "save500" coupon is still the best price on the 65" VT50 right now, at $2499.99 right now, right? Also, they have no sales tax charged, and free delivery, so it's $2499.99 out the door. (I'm headed to Best Buy tomorrow with my 50" (VT50) cracked optical port set and picking the 65" up instead). Just want to make sure I'm having them price match me the best deal, currently.

Thanks everyone!

That is the best price I've seen from a legit retailer so far. Just a heads up though, they will likely deny the tax portion of the price match.

The extra delivery was what I intended to avoid, as well as having to drive down, load and somehow tie down the tv so it doesn't lay on its back, and then somehow carry the 65'' set down my very steep and narrow basement stairs by myself and mount the tv on the wall mount, again, by myself...

"White Glove" delivery sounds pretty sweet in my situation.

$2499 from Paul's TV sounds pretty good, if and only if they deliver to Jefferson, Iowa. Which I cannot find data to support outside of calling them, which I don't seem to remember to do during their hours.

I'd first have to get BB to price match, and then throw in free delivery, which I don't see happening very easily especially the delivery charges. Which, again makes Paul's my top contender, if they do in fact deliver out here?

First time poster, but just wanted to share experience @ Paul's TV in Flint, MI today. Went in there to check out the 55ST50, but they were out of stock. I found about about the "recycling" credit promotion they had going on. Basically, bring in a crap TV and they give you $$ off. He offered me some prices on the ST and GT displays, and then the brought up the VT with a $500 recycle credit. This brought the 55VT50 down to $1499 + tax. I wanted to pull the trigger there, but Im pretty deliberate about making big purchase decisions on the spot. I came back to the store a few hours later to make a pitch to lower the ST display. He came down a few more bucks, but nothing crazy. He was still really pushing the VT. After about 15 minutes of walking around the store, I finally told him I wanted to go home again and think about it. Finally, he told me he was going to make sure I got that TV. He said I didnt need to bring another tv in for exchange and offered to pay the sales tax on the VT - which was about $90 using quick math. So, I ran out of reasons not to get the TV at this point. He said he should have a manager approve it, but was just going to do it anyhow. On my receipt, he had the sale price of the TV @ 1415.00 and then 84.90 in sales tax after that, for a total 1499.90. When it was all said and done, I think I did pretty good getting a 55VT for $1415 + tax.

Have you tried calling BBY? I can't imagine your situation is unique in central Iowa. They may have a special program I am not aware of. Pauls, I believe is more of a shipping service once out of their store footprint. Any "white glove" service would probably have an additional cost in rural parts of the country. FYI, just speculating on the Paul's stuff. If you know otherwise, please chime in...

Pretty solid deal indeed. They must have a healthy supply of of VT's to be pushing that hard! Especially since the replacements aren't landing until May.

First off, that's one of the best deals I've seen for it so don't feel bad...

Second, Paul's has been running a SAVE400 coupon on that TV for at least a month which brings it to $1699 with no sales tax when ordered online. Yes you got the best deal I've seen so far, but he was talking it up like he was cutting you a bunch of breaks when really all he did was kick it down another $285 from what they've been promoting online. Also, instore prices seem to be even lower then online with a few people saying they've been told right out of the gate with the "SAVE400" that it brings it down to $1497 in store. I don't like how he was trying to act like he was doing a once in a life time sale for you, I thought so far Paul's had been pretty honest and simple with their mark down prices, not used car salesman sounding.

Still, you DID get the best deal so far, just not by as much as you thought so no reason to feel ripped off or sad! That's only like $300 more then I paid for my 50 inch GT today and if I could have walked into a store and instead got a VT with 5 extra inches for $300 more, I would have!

I'm located in central Iowa (Eldora) and ordered from Paul's. They will deliver, it just takes a few extra days to get to the very rural parts since they send it to yet another shipper (HomeDirectUSA to Ace Moving and Storage out of Des Moines in my case). They have a list of zip codes it takes longer to get to when you check out, but you still get free white glove delivery.

I just ordered a VT50 from pauls. $2499 plus $65 from ebates. I wanted to get the mits laservue and 75" of goodness but with mits dropping them and some problems associated with them I decided on the panasonic. Now I just need to sell my 62" mits diamond vision

Just finished the upgrade from 55" to 65", Panasonic VT50.

New purchase price as follows:
Best Buy (matching the Paul's TV pricing) Novi, MI
65" VT50
$2,357.99 + 141.48 tax
$2,499.47 out the door

Please post if you come across a better price than that in the next 60 days!

Thanks,

Long time lurker....have not been on these forums since I purchased my last flat panel in 2006 ..a Samsung LNT5265F which at the time was the best picture at my price point. Still an excellent picture by the way. 7 years later and I'm ready for a bigger screen. After doing my homework - I decided the 65VT50 is a no brainer.

3 days before the Superbowl I walk into BBY Magnolia - its quiet and I'm the only customer there at the time. They have it marked on sale for 2899, but I know I'm just there to see this thing in person because Paul's got the best deal right? After maybe 15-20 minutes of the sales man going back and forth with his manager, the guy comes back and tells me he can do it for 2500. I told him to do better - he came back with 2450. I said if I make a purchase I will buy their longest warranty, but he has to do better. Finally he comes back and says 2399 + tax (6%) w/free shipping is his best price. Mind you - the 5 year warranty was 520. I thought I did great, and I can always cancel the warranty within 30 days for full refund.

Reading through this thread, I see one guy posted he got bby to PM at 2350 (buytvtoday.com) which makes me feel like I didn't do that great after all! I will absolutely be calling them to see if they will knock off the additional $50.

At the end of the day I love the TV, and the extra $50 is not a deal breaker...but I can't help but wonder if spending 3k on a 2012 tv with the 2013 lineup right around the corner was a smart decision? Will the price drop even lower as we approach April-May? Could 3K land me a 65vt60 or even get me close to a 65zt60? I guess we are all pondering the same questions?

On a final note - is the 5 year warranty a waste of money? My biggest concern is IR due to much time spent watching Sports/ESPN and all the lovely static images that come with. Will bby even be around in 5 years? Maybe in 2 years if i have problems they have to replace it with a vt60? Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance for any feedback.
