Just be aware, there are many bad reports about the way Best Buy's quickie ISF calibrations end up. With ,many of them having to be corrected later by a real calibrator, who actually spends a few hours to do it properly. In this case, it being free, may be the only thing they are worth.

Question. Out here in CA I was checking for availability of the ST50's at one place. They only had the 55 inch for 1299, and every size GT was sold out! But I did ask about the VT50, and they had the 55 inch model still left for a price that they quoted me over the phone of 1650. I haven't done much pricing of these models, but is that the deal I think it is, assuming they aren't gonna pull a "Used, open box" or display model out on me?

Still gotta wait on the tax return though...

I just picked up the 55" VT for $1599 through Amazon with a price match to Paul's, so I don't think that a retail sale at $1650 is a "deal," though it is not a terrible price and may be worth the convenience of a local pickup.

PaulsTv has been selling it for $1599 for about a month or so now with no tax and free shipping...

Buy it now! If they'll hold it for you, great. Waiting "until next month" always brings up the chance that supplies will be gone. Is it worth the risk?

Yeah, I think I agree. So long as they will hold it. I don't think it's worth the risk to have it sit here a month and then power it on and find there's an issue. I'll see what their policies are.

If I have to wait and I end up with a GT, which seem more plentiful, I think that's still ok. But I'd love the VT!

Thanks guys. Just the kind of info I was looking for. You think Amazon will still price match for someone on the west coast? Paul's TV is east coast right? Sorry, I've never price matched at Amazon before.

Am I missing something? The 55vt50 is listed for 1999 and the 65vt at 2999 at pauls, did they magically go back up in the last 4 hours??

That would be it, my bad...long night. I did go in to the local bby and the 55vt50 was on sale for 1899. I suppose it might be a little easier to pm to pauls tv?? I know everyone rants and raves about this tv, and to my eyes it's very nice. I know you can't go by the eye test in the store, but it always looks so dark. Everyone mentions calibration. I'm a person who wants a great picture, but wouldn't go the extra mile to get it THAT much better(well depending on the cost). If this tv continues to fall or i can pm pauls, i think it might be on the radar as opposed to the 7100 series samsung LED's or the LG series. Sorry for the tangent, we can get back on topic now lol.

Adding to ur "tangent",,i bought a 60ES7100 from Amazon in an amazing deal for $1598, the picture was horrible, tried all AVS settings, huge flashlights in black scenes, everything looked blown up and animated, skin tones were unrealistic. But what led me to return it and buy 65VT for $2449 was the terrible horizontal and vertical viewing angle, the 7100 needs to be mounted exactly at eye level and u have to sit in the exact middle for best picture eek.gif
Overall, me and my family agrees 65VT blows 7100 away in every aspect but price tongue.gif

Hi guys I was in the market for a "FAMILY" 65VT50 but I have opted to buy the kids a LED ( they can beat the heck out of it) and me and the wife our own "THEATER" plasma. Since the budget can't do the 65vt50 our options are a 65ST50 for $1860 or a 60GT50 for $1700. Help me make a decision I. I sure can't . Thanks CJK

Go with the st. The only difference between the 2 is the gt has an extra hdmi port and thx. An hdmi switch will take care of the first, calibration will take care of the second. $160 diff for the larger screen size is $$ well spent. Although, i thought the price for the 65gt not that much more than the st, could be wrong

I know a lot of people assume that LED is more "durable", but is it really? I would tend to think a plasma would be more durable. Unless you are referring to IR.

Did you even go to the ebates web page and read their instructions on how it all works?
First you MUST sign up to become a member, and yes it is free to do so, and then you MUST go through their webpage first to shop at whatever store you pick from their list of stores and deals!

The kids are covered with a open box Samsung LED from BB with a Squaredeal warranty . We want to keep our set below $2000 Our chooses are as stated 60GT50 $1700 no tax hopefully no calibration. 65ST50 $1860 + tax but since this set would benefit from a $300 Pro calibration we might have to go with the 60ST50 around $1500 +tax + calibration. The cheapest 65GT50 is $2200 no tax . I'm no expert but I think these are the best current prices .If anyone thinks there is room in the prices of the two 65" panels please chime in. Thanks CJK

Coupon save800 now works for 65vt50. So Paul's price is actually $2499. For my state (VA) it is still no tax + free white glove.

Could someone who was successful in getting Amazon to price match Paul's TV explain how they did this? Amazon refuses to match any of those Paul's discount codes. Sure would be nice to get the VT50 for $1499 from Amazon since that is what Paul's has it down to now with that SAVE500 code.

I was able to get amazon to pm pauls coupon. They asked where i found the coupon, told them ebates.com. They had to talk to the sup, then they approved it.
