Just checked the BB web site and they are still offering them for sale so would assume they have them in stock.
Glad I purchased when I did as it seems the prices are going up instead of down because of short supply.
Can't wait to see that baby hanging on my wall!

It is not at all a "bait and switch". I am sure the terms are clearly spelled out on their site.

Best Buy does still have 65VT50 in stock. There may be certain stores that run out from time-to-time, but they are still available. This will not be the case for long though.

Yes, while he has them and while they are still availble in your area. Unfortunately, I called Cleveland and he has them, but not close enought to Madison, WI to deliver one to me. So, now I'm off to BB to see what they will do.
I was hoping to deal with Cleveland, but I guess it just wasn't in the cards...

If BB won't or can't do anything, then I guess my next step is going to be to pay more for at 65VT60. It makes me sad to even think about it.... :-(

Moral of the story....The more research you do, the more likely you are out miss out on the good deals... At least that is my story.

I have had nothing but positive experience with Square Trade. My first claim was on a hard drive that was purchased on eBay . Drive cost ~150, warranty was 15. The drive failed, I had to ship it to them using their prepaid label and they sent me 150.00. Just filed a claim on my sons laptop which cost 379.00 warranty was 89.00 And after 2 years the hinge separated from the panel, filed a claim which included prepaid label. Took a total of 5 days to process and they sent me 379.00. They email you updates and can track your items on their site as well. I now have 4 warranties with them.

It looks like these are running out. I'm in NY anyone heard of them still available here? PC Richard said this was a discontinued model. I told the guy I heard that they were still available in SOME places and he said that was not possible unless it was a return.

Why is there a chance that in the next month there will be NONE available to buy new?

I think I got the last 65vt50 from PC Richard. I am on the island and my local guy told me he found one in Richmond Hills only to find it was sold. They then went to Jersey and got one brand new in the box.
I do know Best Buy has them on the Island. Also, they have a new price match policy which helps. Good luck, it's definitely worth the effort.

Ok here is the situation. I'm renovating my house and my wife said I can't get the tv until we get railings and a few other things done which is about 2 months away. Well I'm sure by then this tv will be gone. I'm thinking I'm jut gonna buy it now and listen to her flip out and then tell her how good this tv is, what a good deal I got, they were discontinuing it and blah blah blah. But if I can avoid it I would like to. Is there another 65" close to this in pq and other features within the same price range? Or you guys could just post how this is a steal of the decade, I need to buy it and so on and I will show her all your comments to support my purchase...JK. But I am really torn. BTW Paul's tv website does not show the Panny VT just the GT......

AmEx was very easy to deal with, credited my CC for the estimate I got from Apple for repairs and did not require me to have repairs done which I did not. AmEx will double the warranty but only up to a maximum of 5 years total, so if you have an existing warranty of 4 years they will cover the 5th. You're basically extending the the extending warranty with AmEx. Things might have changed at AmEx so call them to confirm.

Um, no. AmEx double's the ORIGINAL manufacturer's warranty, that's why they cover year 2.

I have never ever heard of any credit card that will extend a warranty AFTER buying ANY warranty extension (from the manufacturer or third party).

Maybe you got lucky, or the claim service didn't understand that AppleCare was different from the original warranty, but I would not count on AmEx covering year 5 in this instance.

If you are buying from Pauls you may have just answered your availability question yourself.

The VT50 was on the website last week when I bought mine, folks said Pauls stated they only had 100 or less units at that time. I agree, it isn't there anymore. Those who want a VT50 I believe their days are numbered to do it.

On one hand you better hustle and call them, on the other hand you and your marital issues making you second guess... there is a can of worms we all know too well about.

good luck.

I ordered one this morning from Cleveland Plasma. I too missed the boat on the offer from Paul's and kicked myself in the butt. I thought I'd wait and see prices come down with the new models about to be released only to find that there is no need to offer incentives to buy with so little inventory available. I considered Best Buy...as pointed out they have some on Long Island but even if they PM, the tax hit would moe than offset the $100 shipping charge from Cleveland Plasma.

This set is replacing a 7 year old Samsung DLP so I'm looking forward to a significant upgrade.

I confirmed with AmEx before AppleCare was purchased that they woud extend the warranty provided by AppleCare. Later I ended up puting in a claim with AmEx and was covered. Maybe the policy has changed recently. Did you call AmEx and ask?

My experience with AmEx didn't feel like luck. They asked for receipts for AppleCare and for estimates for repair of Powerbook from Apple. It was approved in about a week.

A simple phone call to AmEx or whatever charge card company someone has will spell out what is and isn't covered. Main thing is to call and ask.

That is just a canned response, that did not tale into account that you did not buy the TV through Costco. It don't matter what it shows, you in reality only have 4 years total. Because you do NOT have the 1 year of "Costco Concierge" coverage, that is ONLY given to people who actually bought the TV itself through Costco. So you only have the 1 year from Panasonic and the 3 years from Square Trade. And if you don't think Square Trade would see it exactly that way in court if it came to that, then you are sadly mistaken.

Anyone have a screenshot from Pauls they could share?
I don't see where Costco states that the TV must be bought at Costco in order to receive the 2 year extended warranty in the terms. I would expect an asterisk stating that the 2 year extension is covered only by warehouse purchases if that were the case. If you look at the terms on the Costco website where the terms are square trade terms are explained, it simply implies if you purchase the ST warranty, Costco will add the 2 year to the manufacturer warranty.

Here is a statement reinforcing the terms they are describing:
"Costco members may also purchase a SquareTrade Service plan to cover a new TV purchased outside of Costco from an authorized retailer in the US. Service Plan must be bought within 60 days of purchasing the TV.

Well said, I would concur.

If someone who has contacted Costco on this subject could chime in, that would be great. Otherwise, I'll contact them Monday to clear up any confusion on this subject. I can see both sides as having a valid point.

Canned response? How is this a canned response? I was showing what was stated on my warranty. It's obvious there is some confusion with the terms of the warranty or this discussion would have been over days ago. As a previous poster stated, I later clicked on the Panasonic link and it states coverage is for 3 years, after manufacturers warranty expires or costco concierge warranty ends.

I look forward to reading what you find out.

When I purchased my SquareTrade warranty through Costco online for my TV not purchased there, I'm certain that after purchase there was a page of terms explaining the difference between TVs purchased there or not. Unfortunately I cannot find or get back to that page now and there's nothing in any email I received from Costco about it. I do offer this data point about Costco Concierge Service from Costco's website: it's available exclusively to U.S. Costco members. http://www.costco.com/product-information.html#extendedwarrantyplan

I was able to speak with Costco. They did say that the second year concierge warranty applies items purchased "in" warehouse only. They did also admit that is does not differentiate in the language to whether it is indeed a warehouse transaction or online. The CS rep said she was going to bring up this situation to the department head to fix the language to be more clear.

Bottom line: If you purchased a Square Trade warranty from Costco and a TV elsewhere, you have a 3 year warranty from Square Trade and a 1 year manufacturer warranty.

Well, I stand corrected :-)

AmEx will cover an additional year after a purchased service contract, as long as the original warranty + service contract does not exceed 5 years.

So, if you purchase a TV outside of Costco with an AmEx card, and purchase the Costco Squaretrade 3 year service plan, then the 5th year will be covered by AmEx.

This has changed since the last time I had to deal with AmEx extended warranty. There was no mention before of extra service plans.

Hmm, I have Discover too, but their terms are different

See the Detailed Description section

If the total time period for the U.S. Manufacturer Warranty and the Purchased Warranty is greater than 36 months there is no coverage under this Policy.

So if you purchase the Costco Squartrade coverage, no extra year from Discover. Boo

Success!! No issues price matching. I believe with the new models coming out, BB might be more flexible.

When I tried in Palisades bestBuy NY, they didn't price match with buytvtoday or Paul's.
