I went on 2/24 to my closest BB (non-Magnolia store) armed with price info from Paul's and buytvtoday, and everything I'd read here... and pretty much got stonewalled. The manager even came out to talk to me after the sales guy took my offer to him. Upshot was he wouldn't PM either of them, but would offer me $100 off the current 65VT50 price of $3K. Big whoop. I decided to regroup and go across town to a Magnolia store to see if I liked a GT50 as well for $2450, thinking perhaps I could compare the VT and GT side by side. There was a 65VT on display, but the only GT was smaller and in another room. While one sales guy checked availability on a 65GT50, another sales guy was scrounging around looking for a power cord for a 65" set he was putting out on display. Turns out it was a VT50 that was returned, for financial reasons, he speculated. I asked what they would want for it, and the quick answer was $2300. I said I'd have to weigh that vs. an in-box GT50, either of which I assumed I would be carting home myself, and left to ponder it all. After not too much more thought, I returned the next morning, with the intent of buying the returned VT and having Geek Squad deliver it. That way, if it got dropped it wouldn't be on me. I was waffling on the extended warranty when he came up with a package that included GS delivery and setup, a 5 yr warranty for the 4 yr price, remote(s) coverage, and a free wallmount installation at a later date. It was also learned that the reason for return was "too big", and it had been returned in the box without even having been mounted on the stand. GS delivered it 3/1, and a quick check of the service menu confirmed a bit under 15 hours-- about the amount of time it spent on display in the store.
