Panasonic VT50 Deals - Page 23

Tempting, not seeing them as an authorized dealer though.

Yes, they checked online. PA is 6% sales tax, I was able to negotiate another 3% discount to split the taxes, since there was no shipping charge from EC. At check out, he had the price wrong, b/c when he looked online at East Coast it didn't show that additional 2% discount, unless you add it to the cart and apply the code. They fixed it. BTW, got my TV today!!!

Ahh, makes sense...I could use a 32" TV for my bathroom if you have too much of a credit balance and need to get rid of it. biggrin.gif

EE charges over $200 to ship to my area so does best buy consider that into their price match? Also, i can't get EEs price up on their site. Keeps saying log-in and add to cart to see price. I log in and only on the vt50 page it keeps showing me logged out, so i cant add it to cart.
I don't know if they do, they may use it as a negotiating tactic, but you can also say that you have to pay tax in the store. So, you can say, "I'll pay the tax and you don't count the $200."

I don't know about the no stock, but that price is correct.

Hard to beat that.
Ooh, very good find, I'm going to have to go to CostCo tomorrow and get this warranty.

You people who have ordered from Cleveland Plasma have had your TV delivered by best buy?

I was wondering the same thing because I have seen some people mention that. That seems really odd. So if you buy from Cleveland Plasma you are getting the same delivery service as if you bought from Best Buy? I have heard pretty good things about the Best Buy delivery so that would be a plus.

Yep, and it was quite strange... I thought it was a mistake when they pulled in the driveway. The box had Chris' name on it too, who took my order. I told the BB deliver guys I didn't purchase it through them and they responded with; "Well, you had too. We don't deliver for anyone else." confused.gif

Maybe Chris could clarify here what is this deal with BB.

My VT50 from Cleveland Plasma was also delivered by Best Buy. I was actually hoping for it, much better than freight from Ohio.
Yes, and the hit and miss availability from their "local distribution center" is whether or not Cleveland Plasma can get a Best Buy where you live, that has the item in stock, to price match whatever "they advertise" on their website.

Pretty clever but more trouble than its worth.

Sorry for the delay in getting back.

Yes, I live in the area and know that it kind of worked for people living in Long Island (NY) because BB came to nearly match it.

So, please don't hesitate and try it. BB can only say no after all but you will be surprised to see how much they are flexible.

I have now made them match Frys and amazon prices too. biggrin.gif

Good luck!

I don't normally shop at BB but did buy my 65VT at BB.

The delivery guys came in a regular 'ole white truck...
Did not see any BB branding on it whatsover.

Furthermore, prior to delivery, BB CS told me their truck guys come, unbox, power it up and make sure it's fine and haul the boxes away.
I called as I wanted o confirm delivery confirmation date.

The guys that arrived did not want to do neither....were in a rush to get out once delivered, and asked me multiple times to sign off on the paperwork -while I was just trying to power it up and run some slides to look at the screen. Needless to say, the two twenty's that I had prepared for the driver and the helper never made it out of my pocket.

I purchased a 55VT50 from Best Buy on Sunday. Best price I could find online was $1900 for the 55" and $2900 for the 65". Best Buy did a price search and gave me the 55" for about $1775 so I was very happy. Delivery is Thursday.

I know BB doesn't PM Amazon, which merchant did they pricematch the TV? EE is out of stock again so that can't be as when they were available they were $1931 without WG delivery. I bought mine from Amazon and PM through US Appliance but they will only PM with the WG delivery which is an extra $150. So I got mine for $1946. What is your total including tax, fees and delivery?

BB does pricematch Amazon.

Whoever told you that they do that sucks at their job.

They used to do that....until 6 months ago BB changed basic delivery (which is free) to only be a drop off or haul away.

Main reason was because the delivery guys are just run of the mill guys who don't know TVs and were hooking up TVs wrong etc. You would have had to pay extra for geek squad to go out and hook everything up and such.

Those guys are on such a tight schedule its not their fault, if they sat there and waited 20 mins for you to run slides they couldn't deliver nearly as many TVs daily as they do. Go back in the store and yell at whoever said that, maybe they'll try to do something for you because that changed a long time ago. We were told a million times about it.

BlueKhaki, due to the "We" in the last sentence, do you work for best buy? If you do, i have an odd question i'm looking to get answered and my local BB was not helpful. I have a gift card (Store Credit from a defective tv covered under warranty) for $1,636.xx. I am looking to sell it online, but sites that buy gift cards do not accept any gift card for trade over $1000. Can I buy smaller gift cards with my bigger gift card?. That is, buy one gift card for $1000 and another for $636.xx and pay for the two with my bigger gift card?

If not, any tricks around it or suggestions as to how to get rid of this card? If i bought something for like $800 with the gift card and then returned it (unused), would that $800 be put back on the original gift card or be put on a new one?

How quickly might i get kicked out of a Best Buy if i sat in the TV department and tried to sell my gift card to a customer buying an expensive tv (like offer $1500 for it)?

LOL...what Best Buy are you going to be staking out?

The one here in Waterloo, IA biggrin.gif. That would be like the absolute last resort option to get rid of this GC because not only would it be difficult (and awkward), but i'd probably have to spend an entire day in there and even then i'd probably only get one opportunity to try and get someone to buy it from me. It'd be risky too cuz they would probably write a check and if it bounces, i'm out that money.

Edit: I wonder if craigslist would be a good option? Do the exchange in cash right at the bank....less of a chance i'll get tricked, raped, and/or robbed.

maygit,
Why not buy the TV from BB and use the full amount on the gift card? Sorry for the obvious question but is there a reason why you wouldn't buy from them?

They match any price you find on the internet it seems silly not to use it.
I may still buy from them, but it all comes down to end price. If i can get BB to price match one of these online stores, then i'll keep the gift card and buy there. If i can't convince them to price match, i'd end up saving more money taking a loss on the gift card, but getting a lower deal somewhere else. So most places online will buy best buy gift cards for 88% of their value. I'll end up losing about $200 on the trade, but if i can get it for >$200 less somewhere else, i'd end up saving money that way. I still also might buy it from Sears as well, because I talked to my store manager about how frustrated I am about the price of the 65 vt50 now since it's been down to $2999.99 before and given the companies cost on it, it shouldn't be near MSRP at all (IMO), and now i'm no longer considering buying it from Sears and am looking at other companies. He said he's not going to let me buy it from another company and he'll get something figured out. Now i just need to talk to him when he's not busy and figure out what kind of price cut he's willing to do.

If i can get my boss to put the tv back to $2999.99 for me, with my discount and other promos right now, i'd be looking at end price $2745 w/ tax. I think the lowest common price i've seen otehr places online is $2750, so even if i got BB to match $2750, after tax i'm looking at $2945 which in the end would be "the same price" since wouldn't lose $200 selling the gift card. However, i'd rather keep whatever business i can with sears since it's the company i work for, and if i have a problem i know for sure i'll have no trouble getting taken care of. BB can be very spotty and ignorant from my past experiences.

All Best Buy's in the DFW area price match Amazon.

What about Electronics Expo? Will Best Buy price match them? Considering Amazon's prices on the VT has sucked so far I don't think anyone will be price matching them.

Sears will only price match physical stores within your area (area being within ~20 miles).

Definitely a good deal. Would probably do it, but i'm heading off for a week vacation to northern minnesota in a minute here and i still have to get this whole gift card thing figured out. :/
post #686 of 2664
I understand wanting to get the best deal, but some of the lengths people go to for the absolute lowest dollar value down to the penny is quite strange.

I would never buy a TV of this quality off the internet from some random site that might not be an authorized dealer.

Dude, run away from that company. They have 0 web presence/testimonials out there. Spending a couple hundred more bucks is a lot better than loosing 2.7k

scamadviser.com says this new site has an unknown reputation

Don't do it.

I agreed not to share the price that I got from Paul's TV. It wasn't the cheapest that I've seen but they were willing to deal and I feel good about the price and the fact getting the product from a Panasonic authorized dealer. Ask for Juan.
I ordered a 65VT50 from BuyTVToday.com on 9-7. When I could not determine if they are an authorized dealer, I asked for my money back thinking perhaps it was a scam. I currently have an email to Panasonic support to try to determine if World Wide Electronics is authorized. The good news is that they refunded my $2749 in one day after my request.
I'd say you got lucky. It almost looks like non-factory authorized dealers just try to get a authorized big box store to price match. If they don't have stock or can't get the price match they say they are out of stock. If they are less than scrupulous, they just hang onto your money until they can get a price match favorable to what they quoted you.

Anyone knows how powersellerNYC is? They have the 65vt50 for $2998
