Nice! Looks like i'm going to have to head to BB tomorrow and try and pull off the same deal. Looks like a lot of people are having luck with $2799.99, so i'll try too!

Was delivery free and were these Magnolia Best Buys or just regular Best Buys that you got to PM/reduce their price? Also, who did you talk to? Did you just ask a regular associate, request a manager and negotiate directly with him/her, or go to the customer service desk?

Stormy, what 4 pages did you pull up on your phone to help you negotiate if you don't mind me asking?

For those getting the $2799.99 Best Buy deal, were they in stock at the store you purchased from?

The BB's within a 150 miles of me do not have them in stock and will not budge on the $3699 price.
I bought mine from a Magnolia BB, I don't think they were in stock at the store. Yes delivery is free. I had a printed copy from plasmatv4less showing $2799. I don't now if the salesman I dealt with was a manager or not. It just took a little time waiting while he tried the price match, just be firm with the $2799 price. When I first asked him what his best price is, he said $3499. I told him that is ridiculous and that I have seen it way less than that. He also told me Brandsmart doesn't sell it, I told him they do and he called the store to confirm. He also asked if I had an Amazon account, I said No.

Anyway, good luck to everyone! smile.gif

4 sites I used was EastCoastTV, PlasmasForLess, AVS thread on best deals for VT50, and Panasonic.com thru an ST thread which gave me the discounted price for members, it's a site on the ST50 that will take you to the Panny website, on my sales receipt it shows a
899.00 discount , I'm happy

Looks like EastCoastTV isn't as cheap anymore, so it might be harder to get PM at BB.

Although buytvtoday.com is 2749.99, so u could use that instead. I didn't end up going today cuz stuff came up so hopefully i can tomorrow since i don't work until 5pm.

Panasonic.com EPP is not giving discounts on the VT50 anymore.

It really went pretty easy, no problems, I did try to get a 2860 price but no dice.I'm happy, been looking for since early Sept. BB is in N ATL

I am heading to the one in Buckhead later today since they are the only one that has the 65vt50 in stock. I will let everyone know what happens.

Thanks to everyone who's been posting here! Been following as I'm looking to grab a vt50 soon, still deciding on 55 vs 65 though

Question... is there any particular reason people are pulling the trigger now as opposed to waiting until Black Friday? Is it just that you don't want to wait until then, or do you really not expect the price to be lower then? I'm thinking that with Black Friday plus the release of the vt70s, there will be big savings to be had... any flaw in this logic??

Just picked up the panasonic 65vt50 in buckhead for $2799 plus tax.

They came off to 2957 at first. I showed him some stuff I printed off from a few random websites And asked him to crunch some more numbers and I'll buy it today for 2799 so he talked to the manager and came right back saying we had a deal.

For me personally, $2799 for the 65" seemed like a fair deal (that's $900 off MSRP, or roughly equivalent to a 25% discount) plus I didn't want to wait much longer so I went with it. I don't think we're going to see huge discounts on these sets anytime soon as the stores can't seem to keep them in stock as it is. As far as black friday goes, I refuse to go to any store on that day - there's no discount in the world that would make me brave that madness.

Well, glad to see u guys were having luck with a $2799.99 price match. I on the other hand got offered $3099.99 at best. I had print outs of buytvtoday.com, plasmatv4less, the past couple pages of deals here, AND a print out of the product cost. He wouldnt budge. $3099.99 best offer. I walked out obviously. Gonna go back tomorrow and try with someone else.

How are you guys gettung Best Buy or Magnolia to price match internet prices from websites like http://www.plasmatv4less.com/ ?

Usually when I have gone this route at my local Best Buy they say no because the dealer is not an authorized Panasonic dealer.
My BB (Tallahassee) will not match anything except local stores in the same city. They will match online pricing, but once again... only from stores in the same city. They laugh if you try to show them pricing from other online stores like Amazon, Paul's, EE, or East Coast.

They told me they can only match certain ones as well. Plasmatv4less was one of the ones I used to show him a cheaper price too. The price in the store was 3499 and they came off to 2957 without me showing them anything because I simply asked what kind of deals he could do with it. Different people and different best buys will obviously do different things, but I just told him I will buy it right now if he does $2799 and he came right back and said deal.

It seems to vary by region. My BB had no trouble at all matching any price I found anywhere, but won't deal at all otherwise. If I tried to talk them down on price without having proof of it selling cheaper elsewhere, they wouldn't have done anything. From what I'm seeing in this thread, it seems like people in larger markets are having a harder time than those of us in the smaller ones.

all I can say I went in with my info, prices paid by individuals, saved the Panasonic.com page with the EPP price, showed it to the salesperson, he talked to the manager and was back in 5 min with an ok, HEY its football season and I watch a lot of football, it was time, I did not want to wait.
Tv was delivered, free delivery, an hour ago, I'm a happy camper, the one thing I need to check is the sound, how to improve it.....will do a search on VT50 owners.

Just got back from my second attempt today. Talked to a different sales guy who was really cool, but the same manager. He finally came down to $2899.99. Not ideally what i was looking for, but im flipping tired of shopping around and deep down i really didnt want to deal with selling that gift card, so i took the offer. After my gift card, the total came down to around $1450, so im not gonna complain at all. I take delivery saturday the 13th!!

For those asking, mine was a non magnolia Best Buy that i dealt with.

Congratulations Maygit! I know we've been waiting a long time for it, and it is so worth the wait! I just watched The Avengers on it and was completely blown away! Can't wait for the game tonight.biggrin.gif
post #804 of 2673
Thanks mnc! I'm really excited for it to come in. I also get free calibration with it too (as should you), so i'll give that a whirl in a month or so. I haven't heard great things about their calibration, but if it's free why the heck not? Worse comes likely to worse, I'll reset the settings back to factory or leave those as a starting point for when i get my equipment. And i can only imagine how fantastic the avengers looks. I've played in on a few tv's in the store and the ST50 just dominates them. Can't wait to see what the VT looks like! I've been holding off watching so many movies until i got a new tv, so i'm going to look as pale as a vampire once i get out of my house.

Anyone in the longisland area interested in a great deal of 2500 for the vt65 pm me.
I went to Best Buy with Magnolia in SoCal today and showed them the plasmatv4less.com quote and they price matched it to $2799 without a problem. I get 5% cash back on purchases at Best Buy, so it makes it an even better deal. Thank you for all the tips above!

Next step: properly breaking in the TV and then figuring out how to calibrate the VT50 using my Eye One Display 2.

Wow I wished I was in the area and I would get it. Why are you selling?
I went to Best Buy tonight and got the PlasmaTV4Less price match of $2799. I just couldn't justify paying over 2K more for a HX950 or Elite.
