I highly doubt it. Even if they did, you would have to purchase the TV from Best Buy and then send a copy of the receipt to Amazon and hope they matched it. I have been very disappointed with Amazon's pricing and price matching on the VT50 this year. I wanted to purchase from them but they aren't even in the same ballpark when it comes to price.

zdoggz, you are the man! I emailed a few of my local Best Buys and found one that would do the match @ $2599 plus tax! Thanks for the idea....can't wait to get this bad boy on Friday. Finally replacing my trusty old 57" Sony rear projection tv that went out a week ago.

Who do you email at each Best Buy? Also, did you email all of the Best Buys in your area or only the ones with a Magnolia store? I didn't know if the non magnolia BB would work with you and price match.

I went to BestBuy.com and searched for local stores. Each store has a page about the store and in the information you can usually find the general manager's email address. I emailed two of the closest ones with the lowest sales tax and one responded within a day. The response was from a really friendly guy in the Magnolia department, so the manager must have forwarded it on with his approval. They even let me order it over the phone so I could get it delivered by the end of the week!

Good news here. I have been following this thread for a few weeks with my eye on either a 55VT50 or a 60GT50. I went into Best Buy and asked about price matching the BuyTvToday price on the 55VT50 for $1,625. The manager laughed at me and said that they only price match certified dealers. I then saw that Best Buy had the 60GT50 selling for $1,999 and very nearly pulled the trigger on that TV but decided to hold off. Then today I decided to call another Best Buy in my area and ask about the 55VT50 price match. They said no problem and I placed my order right over the phone with free delivery. The TV arrives on Thursday. Very happy. Now I just hope I don't miss the extra screen size!

I think you may be better off calling the stores than emailing. If you call, you may just happen to get some sales associate that is willing to override the BB pricing without asking his manager.

So I emailed a bunch of Best Buys around me (Magnolia and non Magnolia) and I got a response back from my closest store (non Magnolia) and they said they would take care of me in the store with the price of $2599 that I sent him! Pretty crazy. My question to you guys that have talked about getting a free calibration and premier silver membership:

You get a free calibration if you are a premier silver member but do you have to be at this level before the TV purchase or do still get this if you achieve this level after the purchase? I also noticed that with premier silver level, you get a 60 day return window instead of 30. Does anyone know if you get the 60 days if you achieve the status after the TV purchase? I would think you would only get the 60 day return on purchases made once you are already a premier silver member.

Thanks!

You can do much better than that. I just bought a new 65VT50 from Best Buy for $2691.00 on a price match. Their new holiday price match policy matches any online price, not just major retailers like Amazon (will not match 3rd party vendors). You also have all the way until Jan 25th 2013 to make returns/exchanges if you don't like it or there is something wrong with it. If you google 65VT50 best price.... you will find a few online retailers with prices around $2,700 that BB will match for you.

Their new holiday return policy is in effect, so you have all the way until Jan. 25th to make returns. Congrats on that price!..... beat me by $92.00 biggrin.gif

I went into my local Best Buy tonight which has a Magnolia section and inquired about them pricematching the $2,599 price from buytvnow. The Magnolia associate who said he was actually aware of the AVS forum (he had an app on his iphone which he said no longer works) wouldn't do it, but he would price match the $2,699. from eastcoasttv. He went over to the manager to get approval, came back and said they would do it. But it was so close to closing time that I told them I'd stop back tomorrow at some point and let them know of my decision. I suppose $2700 plus tax really isn't too bad for this tv, I just may pull the trigger.

I got another response from a local Best Buy that said they would give me the price of $2599. 2 for 2 haha. Has anyone had any luck getting them to include extra stuff such as 3D glasses, movies etc for free or at worst at a discounted price? Also, everyone is getting free delivery right?

Just thought I'd share my story from my local BB in southwest PA. I took printouts from buytvtoday.com, powersellernyc.com, and eastcoasttvs.com, along with about 5 other online stores. I walked up to a salesperson in TV and inquired about the P65VT50 which they did not carry in the store. He said it would be no problem to order it and I would get it shipped free to my house plus 0% for 24 months. Then I asked him about matching prices online which he said something along the lines of "We match Amazon and Crutchfield mostly but we will try to work with you on any online vendor as long as its not like ebay or Amazon Marketplace" Needless to say I was happy. I started with the printout of buytvtoday.com ($2599), he got a manager involved and after about 15 minutes he came back and said sorry they would not be able to adjust the price since the site looked shady. So then I pulled out the other two powersellernyc ($2725) and eastcoasttvs ($2707). He seemed a little pissed that I had all this ready to fire at him..haha...So after another 15 minutes of checking out the sites, he came back and said that they would do $2725. Not quite $2599, but I was damn happy to save nearly $1000 on a pricematch. So once that was all finished I had to pick up a few pairs of 3d glasses...I just so happened to have the printout from Amazon with a price of $61 for the glasses...The manager had to ok this as well...long story short...he did. So all in all I saved a little over $1000 for the glasses and TV. I am extremely happy! All I can say to others trying is to make sure you have more than one printout from various stores. I had a CDW one printed out for a last resort backup, which the TV was $2999.99. Good luck to everyone!

Where are you guys seeing the e-mail addresses? I am looking at multiple store locator pages right now and only see phone number and location listed.

Ya unfortunately it isn't listed for every store. It was listed for some stores in my area but not others.

That explains it. I must have scoured every single customer service related page on Best Buy's website.
After checking 15 stores, 1 of them had an e-mail address supplied.

Each store should have a profile for their GM with an email addres for that GM. Try that avenue if the individual store doesn't have an email address.

***Sorry, just saw someone else above mentioned trying the GM email address

If you buy a $99 ST warranty from Costco, is that 3 years in addition to the mgfr warranty or just straight 3years from date of purchase?

Alsom, does Amex extends only mfgr warranty or any other additional warranty you buy?

I am wondering the same thing. Looking at their page, they show that year 1-2 is covered by manufacter/costco concierge and years 3-5 are covered by squaretrade. I was thinking the squaretrade warranty was 3 yrs and that started from day 1 so really you're just extending the warranty by 2 years because the manufacturer warranty is only 1 yr correct?
Squaretrade's warranty begins after Panasonic's warranty ends.

I just purchased my Squaretrade warranty after purchasing my 65vt50 last month. Squaretrade's receipt to me shows their warranty ending in 5 years. Here's what they show:

Quote:
Type of coverage:
5 years
Coverage starts:
11/11/2012
Coverage ends:
11/11/2017
Care Plan Price:
$99.99
TV Purchase Date:
10/18/2012
Purchased for:
$99.99
Care Plan ID:

Thanks! Did you buy from Costco? On Costco's site I only see a 3 yr warranty so that would really give you 3 yrs after the first year provided by Panny. In the details on the Costco page it shows 5 yrs of coverage but the first 2 are provided by "manufacturer/costco concierge" so I am not positive on what the case is lol. I know if you buy directly from ST you can get a 3 or 4 yr. Lord Vader it would appear that you bought the 4 yr maybe?
I purchased the 3-year plan on Costco's site. I'm not a Costco member, so I paid the $5 non-membership fee, which was no big deal.

Well, I finally sold my rear projection Toshiba that I bought in 2004, the thing was a bull and would not die. I almost felt nostalgic seeing it go (sold it for $150 on craigslist). So I just went to Best Buy and inquired about the 65vt50. The magnolia salesman said he'd agree to the pricematch from buytvtoday of $2599. A deal was made, but he had to get a manager to the register to override the price. When the manager came over, he said he wouldn't honor the $2599 price since buytvtoday wasn't a "reputable" sight, but would match eastcoasttv, which today is listed at 2799. I told him no, but would he meet me halfway and go $2699. He said yes, rung me up, and I'm now waiting until Tuesday for delivery of my new television. I didn't get the greatest deal that some of you are getting, but I guess I didn't do too bad.

Do you often have to wait for your TV to be shipped to a BestBuy store / your house? Or can you usually accept ownership immediately upon payment?

I am driving to the States for a few days next week. Wonder how crucial it is to call/e-mail price match ahead of time, VS just making the deal in store and walking out with a TV.

Thanks.

Thanks.

My store had 3 in stock, so I could have taken possession of it right then and there, but I didn't have the correct vehicle to do so, plus I'd rather save my back and have them deliver it. I guess it all depends how many in stock the store has that you're dealing with.
