Flat panel shootout. - Page 2

Bummer, I have to head off to install a ceiling fan and lay so e carpet, hopefully I can catch the highlights back here.

I've been really on the fence between the VT and Elite but if the VT has worse IR than prior years that might be the ONLY thing that would keep me from it. Alternatively if the Elite has a degree of pulsing I can detect that may be a deal killer as well. Is a perfect display too much to ask for?

why is the 60 inch Elite looks the same size as the 65vt50??
Is it over? When I go to the live stream it looks like a replay of yesterday.

The surprise was guest speaker Dr. Larry Weber - he co-invented Plasma technology, founded Plasmaco which was later bought by Panasonic, and generally helped bring Plasma TVs to market. For me he was the high point of the event. I got a kick out of his profitability discussion with the Samsung rep when he said to the rep (paraphrasing) "Do you know how profitable Samsung Plasmas are compared to their LEDs?" and the rep said "No i don't", and Larry said "No was going to tell you" then went on to school the rep about how their Plasma's profit margins help cut the LED's losses in half etc.

The Samsung reps aren't allowed to discuss such numbers in public, for obvious reasons.

But I'm pretty sure he knows much better what margin/profit his company makes on TV sets.

Samsung isn't leading the industry for nothing. They're not a bunch of retards that can't count.
It would be obvious by now.

I don't see it either, since no one was posting any links, I went to VE's facebook page. They mentioned it there. I asked for a link, we'll see if we get it

I would be keen to watch it as well to know the context of Dr Webber's speech since LED LCD entered their FIRST year of loss in 2011, while plasma had their fair share. Sammy doesn't even talk about plasma nowadays. With depreciation over, plasma margins is likely to remain low single digits on a PnL and EBITDA basis for the rest of its life.

PS I'm a plasma user.

Here's the actual announcement on Facebook:
"Okay, it's official, Panasonic's VT50 is the new "King of HDTV" The VT50 won the popular and our panel of experts vote at the clear winner.
