Thanks to this thread I was able to get Amazon to:

a) Honor the free Panny Blu-ray promo from early December ($99)

I did this by sending their customer service an email about it like someone posted earlier.

b) Price match Paul's TV Save200 coupon

I did this by using their price match guarantee button on the order details page. A rep then called me and confirmed he would honor the price. (I was initially denied until I said I would cancel the order altogether and buy from Paulstv.com - so persistence is key)

So the total spent was $1699.99 for a TCP60GT50 and a DMP-BDT220! Amazon rocks!

I wanted to just add that I contacted CEVA directly (http://www.cevalogistics.com - Shipper for Amazon) at 800 888 4949, and once I provided my tracking number (Will show up in order details from Amazon, mine was formatted as EC000xxxx ) They were able to schedule my delivery a day earlier than Amazon promised.

Sorry it shouldn't be hidden. it was $939.95. that is why I posted the picture but I think they have changed it now.

It's a very good point you make about threatening to cancel the order since it's available at a better price elsewhere. I would never do it due to the hassle but, given Amazon's return policy on TV's, one could even use that as leverage to get them to honor their price guarantee in this case ("well, if you are refusing to honor the guarantee, I want to return my TV since I can buy it cheaper elsewhere!"). It also looks like to me that Amazon offers extended return periods right now:

"Does Amazon.com have an extended return policy for the holidays?
Yes. Items shipped by Amazon.com between November 1, 2012 and December 31, 2012, may be returned until January 31, 2013, for a full refund, subject to our other return guidelines listed."

Well, after 3 denied online/email claims, one denied return threat, and one customer service call, I finally got amazon to price match the Paul's save100 on my 55gt50! Woot!

The kicker appeared to be that the coupon is available for anyone and everyone to see and use, and it's publicly available on the website. Once the service rep found it, she apologized for my inconvenience and went ahead and submitted the refund. Thanks guys, apparently persistence is key, as well as calling in versus using the online link request.

Finally decided I want the 60 inch GT 50.

Best I can find is Pauls TV 1899 -200 (using the save200 code) so 1699 in all? Has anyone gotten it for less?

Anyone find anything better for a 60GT50 or pay less in the past for that one?

Edit:Fine print says expires tonight.....decisions..decisions

Best I saw personally, I recently got my 55gt50 and up until my recent pm through amazon 1899 seemed to be the lowest for the 60, so Paul's coupon to my knowledge is the lowest. Only other deal is the 55vt50 which qualifies for the save300 making it 1699, if you need the 5 inches great but I would consider the 55vt50 at that price, I know I would have probably bit on it.

I pulled the trigger last night for a 60GT50 at 1699, no tax and white glove delivery Sunday from Paul's.

Screw Amazon... mad.gif I watched their pricing on the 60ST50 and it was a rip. They had it at 1499 on Black Friday. I checked Saturday and Sunday and got the same price. Anticipating a lower price on Cyber Monday, at 6am it was 1599; at 8am it was 1699 and by noon it was 1729. It then went back to 1699 until they lowered it $20 a couple of days ago.

Since then, I called them twice and wrote three times. They wouldn't budge. I told them I live in CA and we pay tax on Amazon purchases. So what.

The Paul's deal definitely worked out best for me...I cant wait to email Amazon a copy of my sales receipt from Paul's showing I got the GT for the price of their ST and I paid NO TAX.

Now the only caveat is, "Is there any truth to the stories out of Japan that Panny is going to quit making plasmas?"

Oh and did D-Nice post settings for the GT and does anyone have the link? Sure would save some time.

From everything I've read and been told the rumor is a mistranslation.

Panny is going to be making less plasmas.

Less not quit...just less.

(Probably because it makes more sense to sell less of the upper tier units if they can maintain the price point and focus price warring to the lower models. End result for us, if successful, would be less high end model sales in Nov13/Jan14 to clear out for 14 models )

I also wouldn't be surprised if they compressed the series lineup a little be more. (IE from 6 down to 4-5)

And since I live in CA, Amazon adds tax also and won't negotiate that out of the equation.
As my post above indicates, I wrote and I called Amazon to no avail. So I went with Paul's.

Here's something to chew on for everyone: The Magnolia guys inside BestBuy said that BB is going to be extremely aggressive in matching internet pricing from here on out so the conflict has to do with the tax situation and the proximity to your store should something go wrong.

I read this translation as well, which is, of course, the reason for the ambiguity. I guess we'll know for sure in about five days, at the start of CES.

I ended up pulling the trigger on the 60 inch with pauls the no tax is huge so 1699 take home is a good deal. I would need BB or amazon at 1550 to really match the deal and ehile it may get that low eventually nothing is close to that nd barely even the st50s

I just got a 50GT50 from BB with the price match for Paul's. the difference was almost $200. However, the first BB I went to would not budge from their price. First tried to tell me that Paul's wasn't an authorized dealer of Panasonic, at which time I chuckled and showed them the website on my phone showing that was incorrect. They then said that they had a special arrangement with Panasonic that would not let them go that low or they could risk losing the ability to sell them at BB any longer. Obviously crap but they wouldn't budge. So I drove 15 miles to the next BB. Went in and said "You guys match Paul's right?" to which they immediately said yes. So it's definitely not a uniform way that each store is handling this policy. Which is very annoying. But I did get the price match in the end.

For the people that are getting BB to price match Pauls are you paying sales tax or is it a reduced price with sales tax to equal the total o fPauls? Do you print out the shopping car with added itmes in cart plus the coupon?

I wanting to get a 60gt50 from BB at the 1699 price but dont want top pay sales tax in Louisiana. Trying to figure out how it all works out

Any tips, info, suggestion you guys can give...id appreciate it

I printed out my Paul's shopping cart showing the final price after the coupon. That's the price they matched and then I had to pay my state sales tax on top of that. I don't think you can get around the tax at BB unless you purchase in a state with no sales tax.

Edit: Just wanted to add that if you're on the fence about the GT50, I just finished hanging mine on the bedroom wall last night. The picture is phenomenal! Couldn't be happier with my purchase.

Whats the advantage for getting it at BB over Pauls?

I they PM at BB i would end up paying over an extra 160.00

Also....what are most of you guys doing about purchasing warranty or if a problem with the set returning it?

For me the advantage was picking it up myself rather than taking a chance on damage with shipping. Didn't want to deal with having to schedule a time to be home to receive it with my busy schedule as well. If I wasn't able to safely transport it home myself I have ordered from Paul's if the return policy was as easy (in case of damage/defect).

The nearest BB to me is about 2 hours away. I travel to this place regularly for other reasons.

I would order from Pauls I just dont know about their return policy if something happens within the first 30 days. For that matter I dont lknow BB either

Hey I just ordered the 60inch GT50 yesterday from Amazon at $1899.99....I am replacing a LG PZ950 plasma that went caput after a year and a half.....so much for LG!!!!!.....thank gosh I bought a square trade warranty this time around....Had a nightmare of a Samsung DLP that lasted 2 years and ate about$2000....So Iam tryng a Panny this time around...Square trade ran me thru the hoops for about a month but finaly came up with $1900 cash for my LG....was funny the day after square trade settled the TV repair guy said my LG was on its way to my house....TO SLOW DUDE!!!!!.....so I paid 1899 for the TV and $207 for a new square trade warranty....I usualy wont buy warranties but with these big tvs I wont be without one....So I ran into this forum about Pauls Tv $200 off 1899....called Amazon had to baby their way thru Pauls web site so they could see it was available to the public at large...after about 3o mins I had $200 credit.....
So thanks to you guys I ended up with a realy nice new Panny and a new 4 year warranty on it for about $7 out of my pocket....Thanks Guys and Gals.......FriedPiebiggrin.gif
