Amazon credited me back money to match Paul's price. I just sent them link to coupon.

BB online has the 60GT for 1,700 today.

got bestbuy.com to price match Paul's TV 50GT50 with the save140 code. Tried to get this deal at my local B&M Best buy, wasted over an hour and they OK'd the match, but just as they are ringing it up, the store manager rejected the deal, saying the price is using a coupon code and they don't match price with a code. I asked them to show me the price match policy saying that, of course, no such wording, but whatever, just wasted my time, and once I was home, I called 888bestbuy and ordered it over the phone without any problem, so much easier.

So from what I can tell the only advantage to the GT over the ST is the THX mode. Is that worth the $50 more the GT costs?

Are you really asking if a TV that costed several hundred dollars more at retail, is now worth it even for just $50 more?...


If you still don't get it, then yes. I would say THX is worth at least $100 more, not to mention the overall nicer design, etc.

Just ordered the 60"GT for $1,700 plus tax at BB online. I was looking at the 55VT for a hundred less but decided the extra inches of the GT were worth a $100 over the VT's features.

This will be a bedroom TV so I didn't really need the ultimate panel and calibration features the VT offers.

Reviews state the THX modes don't offer any real improvement to a correctly calibrated ST50 and I was looking for user feedback.

correct calibration costs $400+ so for $50 you get closer to calibrated...its a no brainer and I have comments several posts back. Its a no brainer and just get it unless you want the VT...then wait longer.

A $400 calibration will be better than THX, which isn't a calibration, it uses the same settings for each TV, not tuned for your individual TV. The equivalent to THX will be grabbing the recommended settings from AVS Forum. Nice thing about THX is it's like having another custom setting, especially for daytime.

I wasn't saying it is a calibration, but gets closer to a calibrated picture out of the box without paying a lot. Perhaps I should use vague words like 'better ootb picture quality'...just trying to help someone make the easy decision without going into semantics.

I don't believe the ST can match the brightness output of the THX-Bright Room mode setting either. Honestly, I would have paid 50$ just for the nicer design though, let alone the better features.

65" GT is now $2,199.99 at Amazon.

From my understanding talking to one of the top pro calibrators, even after calibration, the GT gets brighter than the ST. So if you need the extra brightness, seems like a no-brainer.

Also $2199 at Paul's with the aforementioned free tax & delivery. I also noticed that certain models are missing from the Paul's website specifically the GT60, got to pull the trigger here soon.

The BB I bought my TV at did a second PA thanks to the new Paul's TV price drop on the P50GT50.

BB does vary from store to store though. I went to my local BB first to do it and they just said they don't PM online and wouldn't help, even after I showed them the first PA that the other BB did. They bleated...'well it depends on store discretion'.

Anyway, I started with a PM to Adorama at $1099 when I bought it on 12/12. One PA to Paul's at $1049 on 12/29. Now the second PA to Paul's at $999 on 1/28.

how long is the BB's price adjusstment period, is it a set date or X days after delivery?

my rep told me 30 days from purchase since thats the standard return window.

Where did you guys get the code for Pauls tv website? Amazon told me without it being on the main page of their website they would not honor the price match. If there is a link to it maybe that would help. Thanks in advance for any help. Moon

Amazon did match the price this morning....

Interestingly, the TC-P55GT50 at Amazon has been $1,350 for the past few days (in stock, Amazon as the vendor), and this morning it was almost $100 more (in stock, available from another vendor I do not recall). Now, it is back down to $1,350 (not in stock until 7 February, Amazon as the vendor).

Crazy stuff.

I think there are not too many of these TVs left in the supply chain. Best Buy is completely sold out of them in my area and not expecting to get any more.

I am happy Amazon looks to be getting another order of them. Bodes well for those who have recently purchased and don't want to be SOL if there is a problem with their panel.

Are the new models launching soon? If so, then this may be the last of them, and the price may not go much lower? Can you tell I am getting nervous?

Finally got lucky in my never ending search for a great deal on a 65gt50. One of my local BBs had an open-box tv for $2,000 (plus tax and 2-year protection). Great deal considering the tv is brand new - a victim of a refused delivery. They are bringing it this Saturday, sweet!

just tried to get a BB here (Jackson MS) to price match Paulstv on a 60gt50 of 1699. They said they could not match because Pauls does not have a store with in 30 of the area. I wanted to get it from them cause they have it in stock. Hopefully it will be 1699 again on Sunday. if not I might just order from Pauls and be done with it.

Much rather get as local as possible in case problems occur.

Quick Question.. What are the differences between the ST and the GT.. The GT is "supposedly" the higher end TV, but was rated lower than the ST by quite a few places,and is currently selling for less as well

Basically from what I've been told; nicer style of the actual TV set, easy out of box THX mode (though cnet settings sounds like they can get at least as good or better then THX), and MAYBE brighter overall panel brightness.

Doesn't sound like there is more difference between the sets, which is probably why the GT is being dropped for the 2013 sales year and the VT will replace it. A newer ZT set with hopefully some new (maybe small though) tech will be the top end.
