Any GT50 deals out there? - Page 4

Best Buy has the TC-P55GT50 bundled together with their high end blue ray player DMP-BDT500 (MSRP $349) for $1799 on their website, but I saw it in the store Sunday 10/21 for $1699. That is the best deal I have seen out there for the 55" GT50.

I pulled the trigger last night. Got it installed but not the blu ray player. It looks as good as my one year old P65VT30. It is a great deal.

I just got the 65GT50 from BestBuy. for $2376.50.

It was a price match to East Coast TV which has a sale price of $2,425 but also has a "2% instant discount" through October 28th.

Thanks for this. I've been researching / price watching / fence-sitting for a few months, and I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the 65GT50 last Sunday.

East Coast had dropped a bit, to $2409, $2360 after the 2% discount. BB price matched after the usual "gotta talk to my manager" routine and some minor pushback. East Coast isn't on their price matching list, but they did it anyway.

I think a better negotiator could get it for less, probably even without a price match. I was hoping for $2299, but given the way prices are looking, I'm happy.

Funny how different each situation is. Not only did I not need a manager, the saleswoman helping me is the one who actually found the East Coast deal and offered it to me!

Glad it worked out for you and hope you enjoy the set. Due to hurricane I still havent received mine frown.gif

Hello,
I am honestly surprised that the pricing on the 60GT50 has moved so much higher than when I purchased mine in late July. When I purchased my 60GT50 from Best Buy, it was initially $1899 with a free Panasonic DMP-220 BDP.

As I was not aware of the BDP Promotion until I got home after purchasing my GT50, I ended up having to wait until after delivery on the TV to get the BDP as the TV and BDP have to be on the same receipt for the BDP to zero out. Had I done it before delivery, I would have lost my scheduled delivery date. Amazingly, when I went in to get the BDP, the Manager priced down the 60GT50 down to $1750 and the BDP at $150.

I then called BB's 800 Number and the store as well and asked if there was an issue if I wanted to return the BDP. Amazingly it was no problem and thanks to the TV being marked down to $1750, the 4 year Product Protection Plan went from $499 to $329. So I ended up returning the BDP and putting the proceeds towards the PSP.

Currently, BB has the 60GT50 for $2199 and Amazon is selling it for $1998. It just seems leading up to the Summer Olympics that the pricing would have been much higher then.
Hopefully. the pricing will come down to $1850 around Black Friday.
Cheers,
AD

Just puchased the 65" GT50 from BB to be delivered next week. At $2,500 it was less than half what I paid for my Sony 60" XBR800 rear projection LCD nearly 10 years ago. The XBR picture quality has been slowly degrading and has been anoying to watch lately. Now need to decide if opt for the BB Service Plan or take chance with the limited factory warranty. I like the peace of mind but at $280/2 years or $430/4years kind of pricey.

Your like me, I also bought a Sony XBR800 only the 50 inch. I've only replaced the bulb once and had no other issues but after viewing my brothers 65 S30? I really feel like I need to step up. Plus I just ordered a new avr and blu ray player So it's time to upgrade just trying to wait to see if it gets closer to 2 grand. Yeah my 50 inch was I believe 3999 when I bought it.

Was that the price out the door, or before tax?

Before tax

The 65GT50 is down to $2331 with coupon code at eastcoasttvs.com. That's a bit less than the before-tax price Best Buy matched for me a couple weeks ago.

Just pulled the trigger on a P60GT50 from Amazon. They dropped the price from $1998 to $1899 yesterday.
Haven't seen a better price in a while

Just purchased a 65GT50 from Pauls. Got the TV, a 5 year warranty, a Panasonic DMPBDT220 bluray player, 4 of the Samsung glasses that are compatible with this set, and $250 of assorted gift cards (that are probably basically worthless, I'd guess), for $2,875.95. No tax, no shipping, white glove delivery. I think I got a fairly solid deal there. At least much better than I was able to find anywhere else.

$1349 for the 55 inch on Amazon right now.

I bought the GT50 60" at $1899 because they price matched amazon, at magnolia.

best deal i found.

i had paid $1999 for 55'' Sony HX TV (Big mistake)

Got me one last night. Great deal (I've been watching prices all year). No tax, free enhanced delivery (like "white glove") and 2% rewards (like an electronic gift card). Called Paul's TV to price match--they refused and gave me no reason to deny the price match other than it was below their cost (seemed to fall within their price match policy--rep was dismissive, left me with bad taste in mouth). Thank you Amazon!!!!
I just pulled the trigger on a 55GT50 on Amazon for 1349.00. Getting delivered Wednesday.
Has anyone considered buying an Amazon "Warehouse" item? It is either open box or used but comes w a 30 day return policy. Thoughts?
I too took advantage of the Amazon deal... 1349 + TAX ... (dang you PA cutting that deal with Amazon) but also, don't forget the 2% credit back in an Amazon gift card ($26.98)

I debated a long time between the ST and the GT ... but for 200 bucks more I liked the

1) Styling
2) THX ... yea, I'm never gonna do the calibration thing smile.gif
3) Dual core wifi processor
4) that gradation thingy ... smile.gif

BB Price match experience round 2. Much better results.

Yesterday I went to price match. No dice, rude salesman ect. So I just left and came back home with the intention of buying online. I read up some more and saw that folks were talking about Paul's and amazon, so I did some more research and found Pauls and amazon were selling the 60GT50 for 1899. Amazon charges tax here, Paul's doesn't. With print out in hand from an authorized dealer, I went back today and skipped the sales guy in the Magnolia Store, and went right to the CS desk.

But first I bought it for $1999.95 +tax from BB.com and had that order in hand.

At the CS desk the rep told me that because I bought the TV on BB.com with my AMX, I would have to call and get the price match over the phone even though I was picking it up there. What!!! Anyway, I asked for the Manager and although he/she never showed up, a "sales specialist' said he would take care of it for me. I ended up getting (cash) $274 and change back right there. What!!! I was dumbfounded. He said it was impossible to change the order at the store level as he counted me out the cash. Great CS move. Gives me hope for all mankind. Warms the cockles of my heart.

And they are having a private sale on Dec. 2nd and there are 3x reward points for a purchase over $500. He said they would give them to me as well.

I don't know how long they will be around, so I didn't get their extended service plan.

How crazy is that?

edit. Also get a $25 gift card for buying online on Cyber Monday. They send it after pick-up.

Best Buy currently has the 55gt50 for $1349. I bought one on Friday for 1499 thinking it was a good deal. Going back on Wednesday to have them adjust the price.

I found a local retailer that was willing to match the Paul's TV offer of $1,900 after tax and delivered for the 60GT50. I'm going to pull the trigger.
