Choosing an SDXC Card

Thread Starter
Hello, I'm using a Canon HF M500, Brand new - with no internal memory, I am using a wide angle lens with it and I am looking to buy a sandisk SDXC card.

I see many that could support the full hd 24 mbp/s that my camcorder offers, however, I am looking at the Sandisk Extreme and Extreme Pro series, 128gb disks. I see that they can write in 45mbp/s and 100mbp/s......If my camcorder is able to write in full hd 24 mbp/s what can 100mbp/s offer to my camcorder that the 45mbp/s one can't? Would my camcorder still write in 24 mbp/s no matter if the chip is 100 or 45?

Correct, for you current camera, you don't need the speed offered on those SD cards. It's overhead that you'll never benefit from...except likely upon transferring that data to your PC.

I like the 16MB and 32MB versions of this card: http://www.adorama.com/IDSSD16GE3.html Low cost and great user reviews at Amazon, etc.
