Good afternoon friends, hug to all of this forum, I'm from Brazil and bought pa70g also really liked the beginning, I realized that only focus on the problem, I sent for technical assistance but not solved, I wonder how is their, I have followed this forum you have any conclusion on this is that all units are standing with this problem? or not thank all who can share thanks ....

Welcome to the forum room.
It seems like a hit or miss thing with the focus issue. I think the best approach at this point is buy it from a place that has good replace/return policy.
Are you saying you sent your unit back to LG , and they sent the unit back to you, and it was not fixed?
If you have a friend who can proof read what you want to say to us, and reads english, that would be the best for everybody.

Hello friend, they will return the money because they had no one to replace the stock, assured me the product, PS: can you tell me if it's all pa70g presents this same defect or not ...?

This makes me want one even more. Haha I even emailed frys to find out if they plan to offer the sale again due to all the demand. I'll post any response I receive. Took me weeks to get the green light from the wife now I'm coasting waiting on a sweet deal.

I have the LGHX300 in which I got buyer's remorse because it seems dull, not enough light output.
The picture itself is acceptable.
Therefore the LGPA70G will be a upgrade for me in lumens and resolution.
Now if I can get it all at FRYS $ 399 I'll be happy.
Unless later this summer new 1080P LED projectors come out on the market at a price range and performance that all of us can get excited about.biggrin.gif

I am not to concerned about texts or presentations.
So as long as it looks good in movies, games.
The PA70G has got to look much better than the HX300 while surfing the internet.

Was just at Fry's earlier tonight and the PA70G was $499.

** Oh and I disagree regarding not being usable for text as it all depends upon the sample you get and how well it's set-up.

I boosted my contrast to 100 in order to increase the flaring for the pic below and it is still pretty solid...



It is still very functional if you get a sample with good focus / uniformity.

If there was some 1080p led projector, wouldn't it have been shown off at ces? I don't think by the wave of a magic wand ca-bam here is some new projector. I think we will just have to wait until Cedia in the fall.

This is your best bet for 1080p and led

I haven't read anything that would suggest they have fixed the focus problem. It would probably take more than a few tweaks to correct, I would think a complete redesign.

From that video alone the PA70G is the winner......IMO. Although I can't see any difference in brightness, but the PA70G is more cleaner & vibrant in color.

I got an email from frys.

Whats FRUSTRATING as HELL is reading the CONSTANT references to these great deals at FRYS and NOT being able to take advantage of them! AGHHHHHHH!!!! mad.gif

They won't ship or EVEN sell these deals online mad.gif I have called a few of their stores directly and wanted to pay by credit card and have them ship Directly from the store and its STILL NO Go!

I received mines today and I am blown away at how good it looks on just a plain wall with the lights on. I thankfully have no focus issue and am very happy with my purchase. Anybody that doesn't wanna wait for the frys deal can always look on ebay.

That link might be in the high end projector threads but perhaps I hold out for the hopes that maybe late this summer a LED 1080P projector might come out with real world prices that the average man or woman can afford.

However if that does not happen this LGPA70G is a great projector to have until a LED 1080P projector with real world prices come to the market.

A few weeks ago they had them on sale for $ 399 and ? that sale was not just for walk ins, in other words, you can only get that sale if you buy it directly from the store.
They had it on sale at that price even for those who live out of state.

What's even more frustrating is that I didn't have the money to buy it at that price.

Yes, I admit, the focus problem kind of held me off until I hear more that more people were getting good units with no focus problems from the later build units from the factory.

Now it's a waiting game in hopes that most if not all that are coming from the factory are good and saving up money to buy one.

My greatest fair with the ebay listings might be the items are the returned units.

I finally got around to getting 3D blu ray playback working via pc over VGA (1280x720p @ 120Hz) and figured I would post in case it can help anyone else.

Using PowerDVD along with AnyDVD HD to strip HDCP flags from the discs. I would use HDMI but my current game room AVR does not seem to allow 120Hz pass through (Denon 1712).

After some tinkering with the settings while set at 720p 60hz I have a respectable 3D image since it uses the settings but blanks them out when switched to 120hz.

Just watched some Avatar and Madagascar 3 and the 3D was solid even though the brightness is not substantial and there is a loss of contrast.

With my AMD HD6970 video card I am using DVI->VGA for Video direct to the PA70G and HDMI for audio to my AVR, this required that the HDMI be set to Expanded (not duplicate) in order for 120Hz to be allowed over the VGA.

I got mine from ebay for $485 shipped. The seller said it is a brand new unit just opened to make sure that it did not have the focus issue, which it thankfully does not. I just received my unit so I guess I will have to wait and see if there is any problems. The seller had 100% positive feedback so I feel pretty good about it, you can get a brand new unopened unit on ebay for about $539 shipped. I guess its just the luck of the draw when it comes to the focus issues.

I got mine yesterday.
Compared to my Casio XJ-A230:
Good things:
+ Quieter than the Casio. The Casio is a vacuum cleaner in comparison.
+ No colorwheel that can break and less rainbows.
+ Separate power brick. Less heat at the projector.
+ Seems just as bright than the Casio although the image is smaller
Bad things:
- I still see lots of rainbows, but it is still 10x better than the Casio XJ-A230.
- Diamond pixels...actually not so bad as I thought.
- No Zoom. Not filling my whole screen. I have the projector completely at the back of the room, but the image is still too small for my liking. Anything I can do?
- Colors a bit too saturated?
- Don't know if I am imagining a slight uneven focus to the right.

It actually is a pretty decent projector. If only I can get it to fill my whole projector screen...

currently own the dell m110 I am thinking of buying the optoma ml500 or this pa70g. I heard the optoma has focus issues while warming up but goes away. Im wanting an upgrade for 3d and no nothing about 3d for projectors. I have a bunch of sbs movies and tridef ignition for 3d gaming which will support the 3d gaming but how is it going to work with sbs do I need something else>?

someone please chime in and list the pros and cons and info on 3d. thanks a million:)

If your main reason for getting another PJ is 3D, I think Bulb based would be the best solution. There are some nice models around 900-1300 dollars in 1080p, and 700 dollars for 720p 3D. Look at the first couple of pages of threads on this under 3,000 dollar room for what people are buying and recommending. Or start a new thread on Best 3d and give your top dollar you are willing to spend.

Now, if you are wanting to stay with 3D in 720p in LED, I would think the pa70g would be the hands down favorite. It's the brightest 700 lumens compared to 500 lumens, has 2 year warranty, 6 watts of stereo sound. No start up warm up issues, and if you get a focused model is excellent for 2D and ok for 3D.

I have tried 3d on it, and it works , but it tired my eyes out so much, I'm not gonna go 3D anymore. Maybe others can share their experience with 3d on both LED models and also their experience with bulb based 3d , in helping comparing 3D between Bulb and LED.
