3D HTPC Question

I have a question regarding 3D technology.

If you have files that are in a side-by-side format (SBS) like seen here: ( http://www.freehd3d.info/ ) is there a way to get ALL of the processing done on the computer end so that a non-3D HDTV can display the picture?

I know you'll need HDMI 1.4a for starts on the video card but do you really need the 3D TV? Just curious. Thanks!

Very simplistic answer: You still need a 3D TV because you have to somehow get separate scan lines of left eye and right eye from the TV set to each eye and you have to have special glasses to interpret the correct signal for each eye.
