Retailers in NYC that would have a full-size DisplayPort to HDMI adapter

I used to be in the business of installing audio/video gear 20+ years ago. But I haven't been buying gear very much beyond a personal device here and there pretty much since.

I need an adapter, pronto, asap; so I want to buy it from a retailer in NYC if possible. I need a Fullsized DisplayPort to HDMI adapter (not "Mini" DisplayPort, which appears to be sold everywhere), to adapt the video out of my HP 8740w to a flatscreen.

I've checked the websites for BestBuy, B&H, Adorama and J&R. And everything they have is a Mini DisplayPort; I need the full-fat DisplayPort (B&H website seems to say it has 1 full-sized adapter out of the flood of Mini DP adapters; but the picture looks like a Mini DP). Does anyone know of another place I can look in NYC for it? Just a name, I'll check the website or phone them.

Thanx.

I remember for example there was a street in midtown filled with electronic retailers that had every type of cabling someone might ever want. But either the NYC landscape changed drastically, or I just can't locate where all those places are now; looking on Google maps I can't locate which street in midtown it was. Anyone know?

But I don't really care where the place is in NYC, or a short subway ride just outside of manhattan.

Thanx again,
-steve

Hey Colm. I made special mention of B&H in my OP as they "might" have it, or their website might be inconsistent w/the photo. Was looking for other retailer's names than the ones I mentioned.

Lawrence, yes, that's an example. But I'm looking for a dongle sized unit sans cable; Monster makes one like that; or w/a 6" cable. There are many in the world. Issue being, I was hoping to go to the store and buy it today as I need to run a cabling test to make sure the floor man didn't shoot a nail thru a wire (50' HDMI cable). And I am looking for stores in NYC in addition to the ones I mentioned in the OP.

This item for example would be ideal. Just need to find a retailer in NYC that has one...

I would suggest in a "pinch", just borrow a bluray player and go from there.

The name "Datavision" just popped into my head. .... and, Datavision is still there! Thought it closed. Trying them now.

A kludge alternative that just might work and be more plentiful - Convert full DisplayPort to DVI and then DVI to HDMI. The reason is that the full sized DisplayPort adapters were more popular in the DVI timeframe. So you might be able to find those. I try not to make Franken-Adapters, but sometimes you have to.

Is BZB Express in NYC? That is what the OP was asking about.

alk3997, that two step adapter thru DVI would have been a good compromise in a pinch that I hadn't considered. Thanx for that. (and ya, dunno why many are skipping the "I need to pick it up in NYC today" part of this )

Otherwise to all, I found the mecca of cabling. Just got back from Datavision. So happy they survived the "bust" years last decade that took-out the brick & mortar retail operations of CompUSA, CDW, etc.. It's like a geek's toy-store in there. Then, go downstairs and you're likely to think they bought-up all the surplus stock of cabling/interconnects from the competitors that didn't make it.

Got an SIIG full-size DisplayPort to HDMI and that should do the trick!
