Amazon sells two DVDs of Jesus Christ Superstar:
1. Here are the details of one DVD, which does not say "Widescreen" in the title:
Anamorphic, Widescreen, 2.35:1
2. Then, they sell another DVD with "Widescreen" in the title, which is about $10 more expensive. Here are the details for that DVD:
Anamorphic, Widescreen, 1.78:1
Which is better to purchase for playing on a 1920x1080 HD TV? 1.78:1 is 16:9, but doesn't that have less horizontal content than 2.35:1 ? In other words, the cheaper DVD with an aspect ratio of 2.35:1 will display black bars on the top and bottom of my 16:9 HDTV, but will also show more of the film's original content?
