Pool Table Light with drop ceiling

I picked up a pool table light this past weekend, and I want to try to get it mounted this coming weekend.
I have a drop ceiling in the pool table area - so I'm looking for some tips from anyone that may have done this before.

I was going to get one of these to put an outlet in the ceiling to plug the light into:
- so I have that part covered.
The question I have is how do I go about mounting the light itself? I've seen suggestions that range from spanning a piece of wood across a tile and putting a hook into it to hanging a hook from a wire that goes into the wood up above the drop ceiling. I'm just looking for the "best" option.

This is the light I picked up - it is all metal, so it has a bit of weight to it:

I am in SE Michigan too so I know there are several good electrical supply houses around. Go to a good one, not a Home Depot, Lowe's, or Menard's. They make a special bracket to do just what you want to do. FWIW, I am not a fan of plastic electrical boxes and have used none in any work I have done on my house. If that box cracks, a wire slips off its connection, or a ground wire comes off of its connection or out of its wire nut, suddenly everything inside of that box is hot. I would much rather have my box and conduit grounded and be sure.

Any suggestions on shops to look at?

Would the piece I am wiring to also be used to hang the light from? I was envisioning using 2 hooks to hang the light to keep it aligned with the table.

SE Michigan is a big area so I don't know exactly where you are. I grew up in Allen Park but am in Fenton now. There used to be a good place near the corner of Southfield and Fort Street in Lincoln Park called Carter Electric. Where I am there is a good place in Grand Blanc called Winn's Electric. It seems to me I remember there being a Madison Electric somewhere in the Detroit area too. I am working off of memory as my Dad was a licensed electrician but passed away several years ago. Some of those electrical supply houses only wholesale to licensed electricians so you may need to find a buddy to front for you. Check the Yellow Pages or internet.

On the hanging issue, what comes to mind is the bracket that you use to hang a ceiling fan from a suspended ceiling. If it would support a turning ceiling fan it will support your pool table light.

Thank you.
I guess that was kind of a silly question - SE Michigan isn't a town I forgot I changed my location so it no longer said "Novi".
I'll check with my father in-law, he does heating and cooling so he probably knows all the good shops in the area.

You can get clips that attach to the tracks for drop ceilings, so that you would be able to hang that from it. Otherwise, you are pushing the same wire that holds the tracks, through the drop panel, attached to a joist, so you can hang the light from that.

Ended up doing the project today - solution was simple:
Ran a 2x4 across the floor joists lined up with the center of the pool table. Used a wood block spacer and attached an outlet box so that it came down though the ceiling tile for my outlet. I used 8" eye bolts to hang the light from the 2x4 through the tiles.
Worked out perfectly!

(the shadows go away when the 8 can lights on that side of the room are dimmed down)
