media player classic and blu ray?

ok I am confused. I am trying to help my stepdaughter play my blu ray backups on her laptop. She doesn't have a blu ray drive so I got her a 32gb thumb drive so she could transfer the iso file she wants to play to the drive which could be loaded onto virtual clone drive. I use power dvd 9, but she needs a freeware solution. Vlc worked a little but freezes/stutters. Through searches it looks like media player classic is well received, but I don't seem to be able to find blu ray support anywhere within the options. How do I enable blu ray playback on media player classic? Is there an easier, better solution? She has a pretty weak amd e300 dual core processor, but it should be able to handle playback of a blu ray right? Any advice on a free media player solution is appreciated... thanks

MPC-HC can sort of play bluray movies. The ISO needs to have its encryption removed by using AnyDVD HD. It can only play the .m2ts file so no menus, just look for the largest file in the iso.
The E-300 should be able to play bluray movies using DXVA, MPC HC comes with this.

ok... So I just go into the file structure and play it? Is there a better alternative?

"Open DVD" has always worked for me for playing blue ray disk (admittedly, I've tried that only a few times). It finds the largest files and plays them automatically. Not sure if it works with a more complicated file structure.

Its funny you say that, because I did try the play dvd tab with my iso file and it seemed to pull all the information in, including the different chapters and the time clock(duration of the movie showed up) but I couldn't get it to play. It just hung on "stop". Would it be better to move the file to the hard drive of the computer? Also, like I said , vlc worked but stuttered, is there any setting that might help that program play the files smoothly? Or something else alltogether?

I'm not sure about ISO, but I've played BRD directly with MPC and AnyDVD HD. No menus or anything. It usually just loaded and started playing. If I remember right, you have to the file of the movie.

I'm not sure if it'll make a difference, and option that might work is Potplayer. It's free too.

cool, I will look into it. The files I am using are my discs that have already been ripped via any dvd and then are mounted using virtual clone drive, so I imagine it should be recognized the same way as if it were a blu ray disc in an actual disc drive.

And it does (the mounted ISO gets recognized) - this is how I've done it (over the network, too). IIRC, I also had the autoplay set for MPC to play BD (the mounted ISO), and it did open and play.

However, I am expecting it to be problematic for branched/fragmented BD movies (when it is not one big file, but broken into smaller ones).
