Good morning, I am new to AVSForums and am hope I am posting to the right area. I would really appreciate any feedback on my issue.
I have a Sony Bravia KDL40EX600 and a Marantz NR1402 AVR and have been pulling my hair out trying to get audio from the TV to the AVR. After many hours on the weekend I realised that I did not have a HDMI 1.4 cable connected on the ARC channels. I have since resolved this issue, enabled HDMI control on both devices and it appears that my tv can see the Marantz AVR.
For some reason, I just can't get the sound from the Sony (either internet content or media streamed from my laptop etc.) to come through the Marantz receiver.
When I turn everything on (via my Logitech Harmony) I see on the screen of the Bravia that it is "connecting to external audio source" but no sound. However, if I turn the receiver off, the display changes to "connecting to internal speakers" and I get sound through the Bravia speakers. Turn the receiver back on "connecting to external audio source" appears and no sound.
I'm not terribly experienced in AV, but I'm not completely technically inept, either. Marantz tells me that there is only one setting on the receiver that needs to be enabled (HDMI Control). I think I have set everything on the Bravia correctly as well. I have not phoned Sony support as I have read in many other posts here that it is a exercise in futility.
I have also tried to use the optical option as well, but also no audio. Does not seem to matter what I do, I cannot get audio from my TV to the AVR.
Advice much appreciated.
