I take it you don't mean that as a negative! Better air flow enables cheaper parts.
In this case its most likely because its full LED backlit anyway.

If anybody is looking at HDTVs, I hope thickness isnt a factor in deciding. Does it really matter to people? I mean think about the CRT days or even the projection cabinets. These sets can still be put any where or mounted fine, and not so much weight to worry about either, no?

Out of the blue, the 46" EH5000 dropped to $500 on Amazon this past Saturday (it's back at $664 today eek.gif). I had been looking at the 40", which was $490 at the time. $10 more for a larger screen?!? Yes, please! Granted, I'll have to find a different TV stand now, as this won't fit in my entertainment center, but depending on what I get, I might be able to add bias lighting later too.

Fingers crossed that I get a TS0x! I realize that it's potentially more work to order online with the panel lottery, but no tax and free shipping is such a worthwhile benefit to me.

On a different note, user FourWude over on the Input Lag thread posted his latest findings to his excellent database (HERE) and turned up some nice results on these screens:
  • UN32EH4003 19ms
  • UN40EH5000 22-25ms
  • UN46EH5300 23ms
  • UN40EH5300 26ms

Sweet! cool.gif

Also did allot of reading after I got 37 inch and found samsung doesn't manufacturer 37inch panels. Everything with it was perfect except viewing angles degraded slightly so i went and got a TS02 40inch got home hooked up and OMG the ghosting on these samsung panels are horrid. Whats the point of better viewing angles if the things has ghosting even on slightest movements.

Anyways i went back and got the 37 that i returned deep blacks vibrant colors. Played few 1080p movies from XBMC and fast pace FPS PC games with HDMI renamed to PC no ghosting what so ever.

IMO what panel you get is overrated and meaningless every panel seems to have its pro/con

what panel does your 37" have? AUO? CMO?

also, my 46" EH6030 (has 120Hz and 3D) seems to have no ghosting either and it has a TS01 panel... yet the 46" EH5000 (TS02) I had before did have quite a bit of ghosting with certain sources like HDTV programming and HD console games (not much with BD movies though)

I also had a 46" EH6000 (TS02) that fell in between the EH5000 and EH6030 in terms of ghosting.

My point here being that the 60 Hz Samsung panels might very well have issues with ghosting over the AUO or CMO ones, but the 120Hz and 3D capable ones might fare much better in this regard.
I'm thinking about getting the EH5000 in 37" too. How is it performing? I will mainly use for watching sports, movies, SD and HD and Xbox.

I'm not sure TBH sticker says AS01 but in service menu its listed a P so no sure if its AU Optronics, chimei or other.
The IQ is perfect and deep blacks only issue is the viewing angles. Its in bedroom on wall and from bed im viewing from straight on so no problem just when i sit at computer "off to left of TV colors/contrast get worst.

Also thanks for heads up the TS02 was an A panel and im think i reading this thread that the A panels ghost . I might try out the TS01
local bestbuy had mostly Samsung panels for all 40 and up models. I just hate keep returning TV

edit

Going to keep 37 and I'm going to go pick up UN40EH6000FXZA TS01 on sale at BB for $550 and cross my fingers
Cant afford 3d model

what ever model is better ill keep and return other

as long as you sit in front the pic is perfect with few setting adjustments also no ghosting.
And an fyi when you connect your xbox rename that port to PC should get better IQ than normal.
Also didn't experience any input lag of ghosting with fast pace games.

I need to connect a Sennheiser RS 120 RF headphone to my UN32EH5000. Before, it was hooked up to a Panny through Audio Out (RCA). I don't see an RCA Audio Out here, so does that mean I need to get a D/A converter and use the Optical Out? Any easier solutions?
The converter I am thinking of is the Monoprice Digital Coax & Optical Toslink to R/L Stereo Audio Converter. #6884 $19.45 and cable.

So instead of going with the 40 incher I'm thinking of going with a 46" model.

Between the 46 inch 5300 and 46 inch 6030 which would you say has the better PQ for movies/blu ray etc.?

I'm not interested in 3D. However I've read that the 6030 has a lot of ghosting even though its a 120Hz panel.

Ok got the UN40EH6000FXZA its another TS02 A
Got all hooked up, firmware updated, colors set and tested tv, pc gaming and XBMC 1080 p movies.
No ghosting, input lag, much better viewing angles and IQ is much better

This TV is so much better than the other TS02 A 5000 model i got before.
37 is going back tomorrow

Thanks PlasmaPZ80U

glad to help... it seems refresh rate is at least as important as panel type in terms of ghosting/motion blur

out of curiosity, what AMP (auto motion plus 120Hz) setting are you using currently?

At the very least, you should be able to use the analogue audio out from the SCART socket. SCART to RCA adapters are rife and cheap in the UK, so I'm sure you'll find something.

Further to this earlier post of mine: turns out that, despite being listed on my My Samsung account page for my TV, my TV rejects it, saying not update files are found. The USB drive has been successfully used to apply the 1021 update already, and the TV can read movies and images from it just fine. I didn't modify Samsung's EXE file in any way. Is this a common problem?

Do I have a SCART socket?

My UE32EH5000 does, so I'm guessing your UN32 does too… AFAIK yours is just the North American model of mine.

I have it disabled

One problem though I was checking back light consistency last night on dark screen and noticed i have two stuck dull green pixels barely noticeable but now i know they are there.
One on left and one on right outer middle screen. Seeing that i got a good panel *other than those 2 pixels* with no ghosting or back light issues im afraid to take back and get another that might have issues. Its local bestbuy 10 mins away so i think ill take chance

So far tried rubbing screen but no luck ATM im using pixel fixing software but ot getting my hopes up.

You are aware there is some small percentage of faulty pixels that is deemed acceptable?

I use to fix laptop LCD screens and replace laptop and TV screen yes im aware my own experience it s not common Ive gone threw lot of LCD TV and LCD monitors over the years and never had pixel issues
The fact i just paid almost $600 for a TV id expect to be perfect .

If it was online purchase id accept but i bought locally.

edit

Returned it got new one had them test before i took home.
So far so good

How the EH5000 handle 24p content? Is it displayed at 48/72hz or at 60hz using a 3:2 pulldown?

Same here on my 32EH5000. Also, those stuck pixels are visible only if you look at them at an angle, that's why I didn't notice them at the store when I checked for stuck/dead pixels.
72???
I thought it usually goes 48/60/96

I could be wrong, but I believe it's 3:2 since 24 isn't divisible into 60 the way it is into 120.

This actually made me wonder as I was looking over the PS3 settings; should I set the PS3 to 24 Hz output or not?

Perhaps you would, but as you see from my link Samsung (amongst others) subscribe to the ISO grade 2 standard for warranty returns. If you can persuade the retailer to take it back that's great (for you), but one has to wonder what the retailer will do with it - fob it off on somebody else probably.

Hello guys, I am all set to buy 40eh5000 (UA40eh5000) Someone told me that samsung has issues when connected with PC
and my sole purpose is connecting it to PC
So tell me is he lying or its true
Does your PC have a HDMI output? If so, no problem (though you may have to go into audio properties to set HDMI as the sound output).

So if you getting blue/purple ghosting in particular then that's probably particular to the Hxxx Sharp panel.

I love that part of Crysis (jumping out of the plane and free-falling to the island) biggrin.gif

Hi Chocolom,

Just an update on the smearing/ghosting issue. I've made a new video to show another example of the problem which you can see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vfmQZXLyw4&feature=youtu.be (look on the character's head specifically).

I know you said you'd expect to see it on your set, but I find these white trails very distracting and it shows up all over the place, in movies and games and in a variety of (but not all) colour/lighting situations.

Is this really a reality of using this TV that I have to get used to? My older Samsung LCD never used to do this. I'm seriously considering returning the TV for a new one, but I'm not sure if I should get the same TV again and hope for a better panel or perhaps get a plasma instead since I here they have none of these issues? Either way it's a really distracting issue and I'm not even being OCD about it or purposefully looking for it.

Dear god. What panel is that?

also, does anyone know what is the input lag for 6030?

I know I'll be shot down for this, but that's not exactly "real" video is it? What you have there is some kind of bounce when there is a substantial change in luminance from one frame to the next - so my question would be is this in the source signal, and if not is it due to frame interpolation or sharpening in the TV (that can be adjusted in the settings)?

It's a Chei Mei, according to the service panel.

I'm not versed in the technical terms here, but all I can really say is that it happens for all sorts of media across both my 360 and PS3 (connected via HDMI). As for my settings, they're all pretty much set with a non-professional calibration tool/copied from Chicolom's signature.

Cheers for your responses too guys! Would be awesome to sort this issue out.
