I'm currently on the market for a 37" TV but have yet to find one to my liking. I bought LG 37LS5600 (UK/Canada only) and in the process of returning it due to very distracting vertical banding/dirty screen/bright spot issue. Other than the annoying screen uniformity issue the LG LS5600 (Canadian model) would have been a perfect set for my room, the panel I got was IPS and motion blur/input lag (from what I can tell) was very good. However, I'd rather trade a little motion blur on the EH5000 for distracting screen uniformity issues on the LS5600 any day.

I know the EH5000 series is coming out with a 37" come September but I'm unsure if I should wait or just get the 40" right now. In particular, would the 37" models still be using S-PVA panels (maybe newer version) or will they be using something else?

If banding, flashlighting, and uniformity are going to be issues for someone. My recommendation is to purchase an array led lit tv, or a ccfl lit tv as far as lcd goes. The EH series is really great with regard to these issues.

I currently have a LG 32LK330 in which the uniformity is pretty much almost perfect and motion blur and pretty good compared to the Samsung LN32D450 I returned before it.

I have to say the overall picture quality of the Samsung was better than my LG but since both TV's has almost no uniformity issues, I chose to keep the LG over the Samsung for the better motion performance and better color accuracy.

This year I'm looking for a slightly bigger screen, less power hungry and about same size overall (bezel/stand included) as a replacement for my LK330.

I'm only willing to go 37" - 40" max screen size, with a thin front bezel(back depth not important) and LED for power efficiency thus I ended up with the 37LS5600 in which I'm returning due to the uniformity issue (loosing money on return shipping).

I could have gotten a UN40EH5000 for a bit less than the 37LS5600 but I really don't want a 40" screen unless I have no other choice, good thing is the EH5000 will also come in 37" soon (hopefully with the same or newer revision of the current EH5000 S-PVA panels).

The only thing that really concerns me about the EH5000 series is the motion blur/input lag but since the TelevisionInfo says the TV has pretty good motion performance I'm thinking it'll be at least better than my LK330 which is perfectly fine by my gaming standards.

OK - i just got mines hooked up - its the EH5000F - the model is HS03 - i am guessing its the panel - i have no idea if its good or bad - made in Mexico

i didnt do much to the settings - but i have to say - its much darker overall in picture compared to my ET5 - Viewing angle is much worse - the ET5 had great viewing angle compared to this model - and much brighter overall -

i have this TV on Dynamic mode - which normally would be too bright - but it dosnt seem to affect anything else -- any other mode during the day seems too dark to my eyes - its near two windows - bedroom - mostly over the air TV watching - or netflix - some dvds - blu ray but mostly over the Air TV -

i noticed the skin tones - flesh - and picture sharpness to be much better with the ET5 - anyone have some good settings i can try - keeping the brightest mode - ? it seems a bit softer in Picture -

problem i have is - if i would have gotten this TV first - i would have never known about the ET5 picture - and most likely would think about anything else - i want to watch this TV at night - and see how the screen is - if its uniform enough - dark enough etc.

for the money - does look like a great set - now i have to decide what bothers me more - softer picture - less bright if needed - compared to the ET5 - wider viewing angles - brighter sharper clearer Picture - flesh tones etc, but weak blacks at night -

i was dead set to return the ET5 - now i am holding off till i watch this at night and give a few days to see if i can adjust -

the ET5 had very little settings and hardly any advanced settings - but out of the box - it was clear sharp and color seems to be much better then this sammy - dont get me wrong - its a very nice set so far - i just had it on for a few hours -

can anyone help me with some settings to get the skin tones - sharpness on this TV - but keep the brightness at the same time ?

I have the 32eh5000 and in the service menu show P6AFOD (cmo panel).
The viewing angle is unacceptable.
After 10-15 degree (left-right or up) the backlight illuminate blue and the gamma much worse turns to blue and pink.
Only one person from 2 meters can see the right color especially on dark scenes and black and white movies.
The worst panel angle i have ever seen the last 14 years.How is your tv and with what panel?
I just lost 368 euros.

i just got the 40 inch and viewing angles are much worse than my 42 inch panasonic - thats a fact - everyone who seen it says the same - now - for me - it may not matter much because its a bedroom and i have it on a angle facing me where i sit on my computer so i am facing it - and should be fine in bed also because i am close and in front - not much off angle - so viewing angle is not a deal breaker for me -

but yes i agree - it a small viewing angle if you want to get the best picture -

i am trying to dial this TV in so i can decide if its worth keeping - it has some good points - which i am trying to decide if they out weight some of the bad i noticed - whats making this hard for me is the fact i had a different model - brand - so i remember the previous TV - if i would have gotten this TV first and never seen the other one - i would most likely not think of returning this one - now i have to think which is better for me - giving good points - vs Bad points

i notice this TV had worse banding than the panasonic - i dont see it much during normal viewing so far - i notice it during certain commericals with a blue background screen - like the Time Warner Commerical - its all different shades of blue - and you can clearly see the banding there - motion blur is a bit more - not terriable - i see it - the PQ dosnt seem as sharp - i havnt tried a blu ray at night yet - but its a Tad softer on the picture -

i notice it on the peoples faces - sometimes better than others - depending on material - my four corners are a bit darker in shade - i notice that when theres a full screen white the most - - its getting dark now and the picture looks nice in the dark so far - havnt tested the blacks yet - black bars on top and bottom - they seem to be uniform so far - have to use the blu ray to check the blacks

its a hard choice i have to make - out of the box - i wasnt taken by it - but a few tweaks and seems better - my eyes are adjusting i guess also - i will update my intial review here over the weekend - - i have another week to start the return process on my panasonic - or keep the panny with a great picture - better viewing angle - less motion blur that i notice - and less banding - i still notice the banding but much less from the same Time Warner Commerical - just weak blacks - contrast - thats the downside of the panasonic -

hard choice - - giving the strong and weak points - which would be the better choice ?

Unless you have a better panel from cmo on your samsung(what is your code?) go for the panasonic if there is no flashlight on black bars on movies or in dark scenes and if the auto backlight and 100hz can be disabled.(i dont know the model you have)
I never watch tv on absolute dark so i would satisfied with average black if it isn't too grey.
I wish i had the chance like you to choose but here in greece we are very behind.

i have no idea of what code i have - i think is says - HSO3 - what ever that is - i may be wrong - i watched this TV last night first time - and yes its much more uniform screen - even all across - the blacks are very good considering this is an LED panel -

now i am trying to figure out if its bright enough - sharp enough for the day time use - i have the other TV picture in my mind - its still fresh so i can tell the difference -

its a hard choice - this 5000 looks very very good considering price - now i wish i could get it a bit more brighter for the day - and sharper - i want to give it a week before i decide -

Any EH4000 owner's? How's the screen uniformity and picture quality on these?

I'm asking because after hooking up my Xbox to a Samsung LN46C540 in the living room, I find the picture and uniformity much better than the LG 37LS5600 but being such a big screen makes jaggies and motion blur very apparent. Thus I might still consider a 32" EH4000/5000 for better resolution scaling to the Xbox, overall I just want a more power efficient TV that looks as good or better than my current 32LK330, being slightly bigger ideally 37" is a plus.

i just got the 40 inch version and the screen is uniform - its very good for that - blacks are very good also - viewing angle is not great - and its a bit softer to my eye - the picture compared to my panny led -

its a bit on the darker side also compared to other LED sets - but i dont have any light bleeding - etc, - screen is very good for that - i am impressed with this TV for the price also -

I have set your recommended numbers on my 46EH5300 and I am impressed, skin tones now look really natural, much better than my previous efforts.

My Version Software was 001021, and on after checking it is now updating to 001023. An 8 minute download.

A uk update 1018.1

Will any firmware update reduce ghosting or poor motion for me or do you think it will never be able to be fixed?

Ghosting is usually due to the panel, you can't usually fix that with firmware.

The 37" version (Samsung UN37EH5000F) is now showing up on the Samsung US web site,

What's interesting is that US web site is now showing the whole EH5000 series 32", 37", 40", 46", 50" as having 120 clear motion rate.

Samsung UK web site shows EH5000 series available in 32" 40" & 46" sizes, all with 50 clear motion rate, no mention of any other sizes.

I think the 50 CMR is a typo, its 120 on the box.

I just ordered the 32" EH5000, from Amazon in the UK, will post back on what panel type it came with when it lands.

I got my panel in today from Amazon. From what others have told me, Amazon seems to sell TS01 and TS02 series only. In the service menu of my TS01, it says it is a 32A6AFOD. So it's the superior Samsung panel. Viewing angles are great, as is motion and everything else. Much better than the Insignia I had last week, which I traded in due to horrible PQ, a couple of green stuck/dead pixels, and the glare I experienced when viewing dark movies in a dark room. This unit costs more but is definitely worth every penny. Best of all, no dead pixels on RGB and White. Surprise, I got a perfect set.

I think size also matters in which panel you get. The only panel I have seen in the 50" is the CMI panel.

I'm trying to decide between the 32EH5000 from Sammy and the 32" E3D320VX from Vizio for my bedroom. I will be watching mostly cable tv in HD, Netflix as well as play PS3 games/blu-ray movies. The Vizio has 3D capabilities and it's a nice feature but not a must-have. I rather have pure 2D picture quality. Anyone want to shed some light on which one to go for?

I happen to have the Vizio in my bedroom and really like it. One thing to note is that it does have a slight hum from the CCFL backlight, it's not terrible (can't really hear it with the sound above 5 or 6), but if you are really sensitive to noise you may not like it. The panel vizio uses is an IPS made by LG.

The Vizio does seem to have the fun factor over the Samsung and it is also a cheaper than the Samsung 32". I just don't want to settle for a crappy 2D picture when the Samsung is only $50 more..

The picture quality of the Vizio is excellent. An IPS panel does not look like a PVA or MVA panel. The color will be softer, but in my opinion, more life-like, you will also gain an increased viewing angle, but decreased black level compared to the Samsung. With the Vizio you also gain internet connectivity, so it would be better compared to the 5300 than the 5000 model.

I just got a 40 inch model and used the settings I found on Amazon.com (see below). Seems to be much better than how it was out of the box. Can somebody clue me in on how I find out what version software I have?

Standard color tone with screen fit in the additional options, with HDMI black level set to low.

Got my EH5000 32 " earlier today, and I've got to say I'm impressed by this set. In the service menu it reads " Type 32A6AFOD" so I guess it's a Samsung made S-PVA panel. What jumps out on this TV are the blacks, they really are impressive, if there's motion blur it's not enough to disturb me, I hardly notice it. Hook it up to a PC and don't look back, text on web pages look good, PC gaming also not a problem with this set couldn't detect any input lag. This TV's a keeper.

Got my 32' eh5000 this am from amazon. TS01 from mexico.

Can't wait to get it home and test it out (for use as a gaming PC moniter).

Just a heads up guys, from the test patterns I'm using, the EH4000 model's appear to have a 6-bit panel (EH4000FXZA vCS01).

I just bought the Samsung hw-e350 soundbar and I can't believe this tv doesn't support ARC! AT least that's what the Samsung chat support said.
So this soundbar only has a singlle hdmi in and out. I can only get one device connected to it (either tivo or a bluray). I was expecting to use ARC so that both tivo and bluray were
connected to the tv and use the arc to go from the tv to the soundbar.

And the soundbar only has a headphone jack so the only way I can switch input's sound from the tv is to use it. So I'm stuck with stereo no surround.
