2. i also noticed that when we use Youtube application, and play an HD video, the TV chooses the highest resolution of the video and plays it... by doing this, the video is stopping , coz our internet is slow.... is there an option to make "360p" the default resolution for all the youtube videos?
3. im using my old computer mouse, it works fine in the computer desktop, but when i connect it to HDTV (eh5300), it doesnt recognize/install?
4. i noticed that whenever i play movies through USB, the sound of "people speaking" is very low, but the "sound effecteds, like objects" are very high. why is that? do you think there are no good audio codecs in the TV itself?

pls reply. smile.gif

I noticed when watching Downton Abbey last night that certain dark scenes (like when Bates and Anna were talking in jail) that the blackclothes seemed to be glowing or flashing. At first I thought it was candle light reflecting, but it happened in other darker scenes where there was no fire or candles anywhere for that. Do you all think it might be PBS or is it a sign I have my video settings wrong? I changed it to 4:2:2 last week.

just open the browser and type the facebook link, much faster than the facebook app.

I've had a quick skim of this entire thread and can't see anything relevant to my enquiry. I am supporting an elderly lady who has just bought a 32EH5000 (in the UK) who will be viewing the HDMI input almost exclusively (twin tuner PVR), except in the extremely rare circumstances where the PVR is tied up on simultaneous recordings or is U/S. This arrangement is for ease of use.

The problem I am having is that the Samsung seems to like powering up switched to the internal tuner, instead of remaining on the HDMI1 input where it was when powered down - but not every time. My LG TV doesn't suffer from this, it always powers up where I left it last time. Needless to say I get many frustrated phone calls when she thinks she should be playing back recordings but the TV is just showing the live TV.

Do other owners find this typical? I can't watch what's happening, but it seems possible to me that some kind of inadvertent remote control inputs are encouraging the TV to switch away from HDMI, or possibly if the TV powers up while there is no HDMI input. If there is a predictable reason for it I can develop an operating procedure to avoid it.

Another idea is to de-tune the TV, but I would like to avoid that in case she needs the internal tuner as a fall-back.

As a supplementary question, I cannot discover from the specifications whether the Samsung auto-switches the HDMI inputs (when a DVD player powers up for example). I know it works for SCART, but I am wondering whether I could substitute an HDMI player without creating more complexity for the user.

Hello all, I'm looking into buying the 40EH5300 as it seems to be the best value model on the market at the £450 range (correct me if i'm wrong). I just had a few questions about it. I'm looking into getting a soundbar with this tele, probably something like the HW-E350, first question, is it worth it? I'm not an audiophile by any stretch of the imagination and i've heard the speakers are slightly better than usual in this box because of the width of the display, but I should still expect a decent improvement from a soundbar shouldn't I? Secondly on the same subject, I plan to connect the soundbar via the optical out of the TV, so all inputs will output sound via the soundbar, would I be able to control the volume using the remote of the tele, or would I have to have the tele and soundbar remote to hand? Final question, I think I saw someone earlier in the thread say that a certain Samsung model, which I don't think was the EH5300, only outputted audio on the optical out whilst using HDMI 1? Is this correct with the EH5300? I'd need all outputs and the tuner to output on the optical out so the sound could go to the sound bar, so I hope this isn't the case.

Thanks, for reading and any help you give!

Further thoughts on this: I could unplug the aerial, and then it would still be available as a fall-back by plugging it in again.

Anybody got any ideas about why it switches away in the first place?

I picked up a 40EH5000 three days ago from my job (Target) for $299 with an HDMI cable.

An older couple purchased the tv to replace their old one, took it home and realized it was too big for their stand. They returned it within 25 minutes, we inspected it and nothing was wrong with it. The stored decided to discount it as a "repackage" which dropped the price from $679 to $445. I watched it for a week and I told myself that if it drops under $400 I'd buy it. So on Tuesday morning it was still listed at $445 so I ignored it until the price change team starting doing markdowns in the department. After they left I noticed the TV had another sticker on it reading $333. I jumped.

Took it to the counter and asked my boss to ring me out and she did and took off 5% because someone ripped the carrying handles on the box. After my employee discounts I save another 15% bringing my total to $284 + $15 for the cable.

Took it home and set it up, it's the best $300 I've spent in a while! biggrin.gif

If I have any questions about anything I'm sure you guys will be a great help!

Happy to hear about your bargain!

I don't know if you're in a position to tell, but could you tell me if sounds come out of the optical audio out on all inputs and on the tuner? Or if its limited to certain inputs, thanks!

You didn't say which model you have - that would be a good starting point.

I can't answer with any authority, but basically the internal storage is solid state and limited to whatever is fitted - I would guess 2GB total, out of which the TV's operating system uses a proportion. The downloadable apps won't be very big, so 700MB sounds fine (that would have been enormous a few years ago). I guess the app system communicates directly with the Internet servers, so there will be no opportunity to off-load them to a PC.

40EH5300 model. and it was 800mb storage.

Hello everyone
I have a question:
Are there any optimal calibration settings for 40eh5300?
thanks
I'm noticing that in dark scenes on the EH5000 there is quite a prominent whitish-blue ghosting effect when there is regular motion on-screen. Does anyone know if this is just a part of the set, or do I have a bad set?

It could be related to having a Sharp panel, if it looks like this > http://www.avsforum.com/t/1406151/the-official-2012-samsung-eh4000-eh5000-eh5300-owners-thread/720#post_22687258

Several people have reported purple/blueish ghosting with that panel.

You can check your panel type in the service menu (see my sig), but you will lose your settings so write them down before you do it.
It's definitely not that blue nor prominent. It's really just a... ghostly white with a touch of blue. I checked my panel a few weeks ago and it was a Chei Mei. There's certainly something there though, I'm just not attuned enough to this stuff to know if it's supposed to be there.

By the way, am I reading your calibration post right? xD Is your Movie mode B-Gain now set to 41? Wasn't it 14 before?

Cheers!

Oh, OK. I'm not sure then. VA panels usually have some smearing on dark scenes, so it could be normal. I don't think I notice the type you're describing on mine.

Yes I changed my settings from Warm 1 to Warm 2, so I had to redo the RGB gains.

could be part of owning a VA panel/60Hz set... the EH5000 I had before I got my EH6030 did have some ghosting with certain sources and it was a S-PVA

Hmm... well I tried this on my TV via the 360s YouTube app: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFSTO0hbAFE and a lot of the slower moving balls have quite a bit of motion blur (minimal ghosting though). It's really quite disarming; it makes it really hard on my eyes to focus on the ball. Do you guys get similar results?

1. how to record shows from TV to usb?? i have 40EH5300

2. i downloaded the latest firmware for my tv, and placed it in my 8gb NTFS flashdisk.

That's a tough scene for LCDs to do.

It's one of those things where if you go looking for a problem with the TV, you'll find it.
