I would like to start a discussion on the ways users will impliment the new Teranex into their systems.

I guess if one wanted to they could send the output of say an Onkyo 3009 into it then send the output to their Sony 1000ES. Primary viewing this way would be DirecTV shows and of course sports (NFL). Would be an interesting experiment.

So, can you give us an insight on what's the anticipated release date for the 2D BMD Teranex ?

The big problem is that if the HDMI input signal is encrypted with HDCP, the Teranex won't process it all, I am sure, but will, I think, just pass it through. This is unlike all other HDMI processors and is because of the licensing fees that Black Magic does not wish to pay. So unless one has an illegal HDMI HDCP stripper, one would many times be SOL Such boxes, if they indeed exist anymore, as I understand it may not be discussed on this forum.

This does not sound correct, I would think just a black screen if the source is HDCP and the device non-conpliant, I highly doubt a pass-through

Mark, of course you would never have an illegal "stripper", would you? And I'm not talkin' just HDMI strippers.
There are strippers that get up and dance, too!

I don't really know one way or the other if it will pass through. I will call and ask them. When I called earlier to check on the HDCP, I didn't ask about whether it would pass through. If it doesn't then one would need a HDMI switcher, one in, two outs. I really don't know if such stripper boxes exist anymore. If someone has thoughts, please email me. Intellectual curiosity.

Yea. And some bring a boom box and a portable brass pole so I have been told.

In the old FP CRT days we all had HDMI in cards with RGBHV outs to feed our RGBHV ins but here one would need HDMI in and out and such were available once but did some nasty PQ deteriorating things to the signal.

Just curious Mark if you could ask [as people have been fixated on hdmi and hdcp naturally] nobody has mentioned the 3d terranex's bnc connectors for component analog .

As the format transcoding is exceptional I wonder if the 2d/3d converter can be applied to analog especially given its lack of hdcp crud Even if the component in is limited to 1080i the terranex has the capability to convert SBS 3d to frame packed I noticed so deinterlacing to 1080p/24 is the easy bit

Without HDCP support, no.

Well, it is easy enough to bypass HDMI protection and then feed it to the teranex, so it would depend on one's setup.

Anyone have the new BMD teranex yet?
