Ceton Infinitv 4 works sometimes, other times it doesn't

I have had the card for a few weeks. It is the PCI version. Sometimes it works exactly likes its supposed to. But if the computer goes to sleep or I close media center, when I reopen it I get one of a few different error msgs when i try to watch live tv. "no tuners available", "display driver error", "this channel is not available at this time" (will say that for every channel when this happens), etc there are a few more.

I have emailed back and forth with ceton, they keep telling me to send them error reports, and enable more error logging and send them the results, etc. I've done all this and it hasn't helped at all. They keep saying the same thing over and over again, so it appears that they don't know whats going on either.

Has anyone else had this problem? Know how to fix it?

Keep working with Ceton - they're obviously the best ones to assist. I'm sure Eric will chime in.

You mention waking from sleep - how much time are you giving the tuner to initialize after wakeup and tuning a channel? It can take up to 2-3 minutes for things to sync back up which can cause weak tv signal, no tuners available, etc type of messages.
Does it ever clear up after 5-10 minutes?

Do you have a TA? If so, what does the webpage diagnostics say? I've noticed there is still a scenario after waking from sleep that the TA shows unavailable (on latest drivers) - I can't reproduce on a whim, but it does happen sometimes, particular after the machine has been asleep most of the night; still very inconsistent though. The only remedy is to reboot.

Check the CableCard tab in diagnostics and the TA (if applicable) on web page diagnostics when this is happening... see if something sticks out.

From your post, it sounds like you may have a few different issues going on. When someone has a few issues going on, it can make it feel liek troubleshooting is occurring slowly as there are multiple problems being worked at once. One thing I would ask is that you treat them as such, and make sure you tell us which specific error you received when you send us a diagnostic capture.

Also please make sure that you are on 1.1.7.2 firmware for the InfiniTV.

Lastly, if you'd like to PM me your support ticket number, I will be happy to look at it.

yes, I am running firmware version 1.1.7.2

I'm not sure if it is multiple issues, it very well could be, but the error messages are almost random it seems. I will attempt to watch tv and get the "no tuners available" error, close media center then reopen it, and get the "display drivers" error, etc.

Yes I am waiting a few minutes after coming out of sleep. The only way to get it to work is to restart my computer several times and eventually it will work.

Erick, I will PM you that ticket number tomorrow. Don't have it handy right this second.

Another thing is on a few of the channels, happens the most on FX, I will be watching and the audio plays through fine, but the picture will go in and out. Screen will go black for like 2 seconds, and then the info of my tv screen pops up, telling me which input my tv is on, etc. It will do this like 2-3 times a minute. And it has to be related to media center or the card I think, because it only happens while watching live tv, and only on certain channels.

This is definitely not caused by the InfiniTV - it sounds like your TV is loosing sync on the signal - the InfiniTV has no involvement in that process at all. To start off with this, I would recommend plugging the TV directly into the PC, updating your video card drivers and updating your TV firmware.

Ok. I know the video card drivers are up to date, because I updated them a week or two ago when I first got that error message about display drivers.

Not sure about tv firmware, I will check it.

I do have my computer plugged into a receiver that is plugged into the tv, I will try to run it strait to the tv and bypass the receiver.

I just assumed it was the card or media center causing the black screens since it only happens on a few channels.

Stop letting your PC go to sleep. Bad things can happen when it's unconscious. I keep mine on 24/7 and never have any problems other than a slightly higher electric bill.
