Short and long of it.

AVR JVC RX-8040http://books.jvc.com/Download/104092...T1198-003A.pdf

I want to run more than one set of speakers from Zone 1, without loosing PLIIX.

What is the best way to proceed?

Speakers in Parallel?
Speakers in series?
Speaker selector switch?
Amp with multi ch out?

The problem that I see arising is impendence and volume.

I would like my main speakers to play at the AVR's vol setting. I would like an addition set of speakers also running. As I found out, the AVR's Zone 2, when in use, disables PLIIX to PL.

How do I run the additional speakers and be able to adjust said speakers volume?

My main speakers are 150wpc(WVS, plz no flaming)8ohm.
The second set that I want to add are 50wpc(Sony surrounds)8ohm.

If I run them in parallel, then I would not be able to adjust the vol, without affecting both set of speakers.

If I get a speaker selector with vol controls, then I could run the main set at full tilt, and the second set at half vol, correct?

Also, if I get a speaker selector, and I get one with impedance matching, most say that go down as low as 4 or 5 ohms. My my manual says Front 1 or 2(8-16ohms), Zone 2(8-16ohms), and both zone 1 and zone 2(16-32ohms).

How do I reconcile that difference?

By the by, I do plan on eventually adding outdoor speakers for Zone 2, for parties and such, so no PLIIX will be in use while using future planned Zone 2.

I know this is a bit long, but I am not sure how to proceed to achieve my desired results.

Any help/suggestions are appreciated.

Thank you.
