Wall mounting a TV Question

Guys,

I will try to describe the issue:

i want to wall mount my TV. I know i have to hit the studs to do so.

Now i am facing dual challenge: Equipment considered - cheetah 32-55 inch mount.

1) can these wall mounts be put in such a way that the studs could be an offset to the total mounting (what i mean by this is that do the studs have to be an exact equal (Left and right) distance from the supposed center of the TV? like lets say a tv is 40 inch length and studs are placed 16 inch apart on the wall. can i use them in such a way that the tv is from one side 6 inch towards the left of first stud and 18 inch out the right other stud...and remaining 16 inch tv is in between the two studs.

again - like there is 6 inch of tv and then the stud so there is 16 inch of tv between studs and then another 18 inch of tv after second stud.

the only reason is that with this i can do a better looking set up on a small wall which is the only option i have to set up my system etc. Dont ask me but there is no other wall i can do this on and i am sure i cant hit the studs in such a way that the tv center and the mount center are all aligned. Thats what i mean by offset.

Hey it will work fine doing what u are asking. The lag bolts should be abut 2 inches or more and with that kind of anchor it will hold that size TV with no problem. I have a 55" mounted and i don't have them even and it has no problem supporting it. If its a wall mount like mine which is an ultra low profile one that doesn't move then the TV can slide left to right on the mount that's attached to the wall because it just sits on there like a picture so you can slide the TV left or right once mounted to the wall and center the weight of the TV with the lags, even if you cannot slide it like I can with mine it will still support the weigh with no problem just make sure to get the lag bolts center of the stub the best you can so they have a good bite because if the lag bolt catches the side of the stud then the wood can split and it won't hold good. To make sure you are center of the stud find it then take something that is skinny (so you don't have alot of big holes in your wall) that will push through the wall and then keep pokeing holes in the wall till it misses then you know you are the side of the stud then do the same in the other direction till you reach the other side and the you can make sure you are directly in the middle. The small holes won't be a problem because you are about to put a big lag bolt through it anyways so...that's what I did, I wanted to make sure I got in the middle of the stud, i wasn't taking any chances of this thing falling. Happy hanging...
