URC RF Blaster flipping out

About 6 months ago I bought a URC RFS200, which has overall been pretty great.

However, in the last couple of weeks the PowerBlaster (RF blaster) has started flipping out. For no reason, and without any commands from the remote, I can see the diodes flashing at a pretty consistent frequency. This occurs in all of the diodes, not just one or two.

The blaster still receives commands from the remote, and everything still works fine, but it's kind of weird watching these lights just flicker at some ridiculous rate (gotta be something like 20Hz) for no apparently reason.

Anyone know of this happening? Next step I assume is to contact URC and see what they say.

Those symptoms may be from interference from another device. Have you gotten any new electronics recently? Maybe your neighbors got a new alarm system? I'd ask around first.

I had one giving me problems in a customer's house a few weeks ago. I moved it 3 times before it finally stopped.

I don't know, I live in an apartment building so that's a possibility. What other things could be interfering?

It isn't as if there are distinct commands being sent, the activation of the diodes is going on for too long of a period and at too high of a rate. I don't know if interference could cause that or not.

I moved the antena on the RF blaster and for whatever reason the issue stopped. I'll have to see if it comes back. So you might be right that it's interference, or maybe something screwy is going on with the device itself.

I had that problem with mine, but it was *very* local interference. In my case, it was from my own gear and moving it just 12" solved the problem. I ended up putting the RF receiver on the back of one of my speakers, only because it was convenient and easy.

My first source of interference was a business phone system in the AV closet. The next source was an Insignia LCD TV. I finally mounted the antenna outside the closet with the phone system and it stopped. You never know what's going to cause interference until it happens. Years ago I had a Nextel phone that would block IR signals to a manual repeater. I finally figured out the problem when I left the phone on the kitchen counter after a call and the interference stopped.
