Comments on Sony BX450

My daughter needs to get a new tv for the one in her bedroom which died. She's looking at the Sony BX450 (KDL-40BX450). She needs it now (you know him impatient college students can be ) so I thought I'd take a shortcut and ask here if anyone has any experience with this line. She's not discriminating at all and just wants to watch tv (AT&T Uverse) and DVDs. However, she's open to any other 40" LCD if a better suggestion comes along at around 500-ish.

I've had a BX450 coming up on two weeks now and can recommend it PQ is excellent sound once adjusted is fine. The screen is a bit more reflective than other LCD TVs but this makes for a sharper image. No bells and whistles on this set but does have a USB port for viewing photos and such all and all it's a very good TV.

Hi, I'm also interested in getting the BX450. Does it have any component video inputs? I'd like to hook up some of my older game consoles.

It has 1 shared component/composite input on the back of the set.
From what I could tell in=store the image quality on the BX450 is solid. I really dislike the chrome strip across the bottom of the set, but to each their own.

I just picked up the 46" BX450 for my girlfriend. I got a nice deal as part of my SXRD settlement. I am very impressed with it. The Custom mode is dialed pretty well in terms of accurate settings although grayscale needs some tweaking. Very good set for the money.

I bought a Sony Bravia 40" LCD about two weeks ago,model # KDL-40BX450,and I can't find any calibration settings for it anywhere.
It's got a really good picture,but sometimes I can't decide what looks best on certain programs.I seem to keep switching between standard and cinema depending on what I'm watching.
I don't have and calibration discs,or pixar thx ones either,and I'm not paying $200-300 to have a $500 tv calibrated,lol,so any isf settings would be appreciated.(Btw,the tv was a gift)Thnx!

This is why my daughter wanted the tv. Good pq with minimal settings. She didn't want to have to deal with calibrating it like I did with our LG. She loves the pq. As far as settings go, you need to set your own. Everybody's viewing environment is different, as are the tv's, so you just need to play around until you get settings that you like.

Can any owners of this TV comment if there's any flashlight /clouding that you notice when viewing in a completely dark room?

Can any owners comment on the viewing angle of these units? I haven't seen any reviews addressing this to date. The main downfall of last year's model (BX420) was a poor viewing angle even while viewing set from slightly off center. Thanks

I have the 46" BX 450 for MBR. Always watch it at night with lights off; have not noticed any flashlight /clouding issues. I did play back a basketball game (Directv) from last season and the blur/motion artifacts were present. Being a sports junkie, I'm thinking of returning it to Best Buy for Sharp LC-60LE640U. I know it costs $600 more but I will move it to Great Room when 6 year Sony grand Wega dies.

hey sorry to bring back a older thread but i have this very model KDL-40BX450 and i was wondering what is the better color temp to have it on Warm 1 or Warm 2 or neutral? also if anyone has some good calibration settings for it would be awesome thanks.
