they told me in chat that the player was dmp-bdt310 and the glasses were TY-ER3D4MU. strange that they would use last years blu ray model imo.

Speaking of blu ray players, Amazon currently has a great deal on the well reviewed BDT220 for $113. This includes a $25 Amazon credit which when you apply it reduces the player to just $88. I just purchased one. Now only if the 65ST50 would start coming down.........cool.gif

Not so much. Assuming they still have excess inventory on hand, what better way to clear it out than to offer the units up as "Promo" items?

Someone who might hesitate to BUY a left-over 2011 player may still be quite happy to accept one as a Freebie....

Eventhough it is a 2011 BluRay Player, the glasses are the Panasonic model that CNet rated better quality than the others (namely Samsung and off brands). All in all this is probably the best ST deal out there and one of the best deals so far this year!

Best Buy has a really good deal on the 50ST50. It is currently On Sale for $849. For comparison, Amazon is selling the 56ST50 for $1099. This is quite surprising as Amazon is almost always the cheaper than BB. While the ST50 is $849, the 50GT50 costs $1599.98. When I purchased my 60GT50, the price differential was $100. The pricing on the 50ST50 makes it look like Best Buy will soon not be carrying the ST50's. Already, the 60ST50 is no longer available Online and I think even In Store. Regardless, this is an amazing deal and BB offers 18 Month Financing on the ST50's.

I did not see a Gift Card and it is the price shown after placing in the cart and going to checkout. There is no mention of a Gift Card so if there is one, it would be before the GC.

Hello,
This is so weird. I searched specifically for the TC-P50ST50 and the first result is the 50UT50. As in the cart the print is so small I did not notice it until you mentioned the GC. I dropped the ball and apologize. The 50GT50 is $1099 and there is nothing about a Gift Card. At least in SW Florida, it is a Special Order and it appears they do not even have them in the Regional Warehouse. I really think the ST50's are going away. Sorry for the confusion.

Irritating that
a) the 50" shows up as Delivery Only (at least in our area - SE MI), and
b) you must sign-in & go ALL the way to the checkout page before the price is revealed, and
c) &849 is NOT the price that is displayed:

I agree it is absurd how far you have to go to get a bloody price at Best Buy. Looking at ST's, it appears the 55ST50 is the only model at least Best Buy is going to carry. The 60ST50 no longer even shows up in BB's Computer. I apologize for the confusion again.

Thought we saw a lower-end 50" 2012 Pan plasma at one of our local stores a while back - but could be a case of failed memory.

Local store certainly has carried one or more smaller (50"-class) Samsung plasmas, along with the 60" LG P6550, which has appeared repeatedly this year.

As to "Why no Panasonics" a couple of ideas come to mind:
1) Costco often carries more models LATE in the model year - presumably as Pan is in the process of trying to clear out inventory;

2) Panasonic announced a lower production schedule for plasma panels for the 2012 model year - in hopes of better managing inventory levels, as well as maintaining price levels; perhaps they don't (yet) have Excess Inventory;

3) Pan also announced greater restrictions on Distribution this year, again, at least in part to help maintain prices at traditional B&M stores. Perhaps Costco doesn't fit in that distribution chain, or perhaps the prices offered to Costco were too high for their taste.

4) Finally, by way of Wild Speculation & UNWarranted Rumor-mongering, perhaps Costco experienced too many returns with the 2011 models - for Green Blobs and/or Pink Tint - and thus decided not to risk carrying the 2012s.... eek.gif

What you'll probably find out is that for some it worked some of the time...for others never...for others maybe it worked but w/out the bundle...for others it came with something as a "bonus". So to my point there is only one way to find out. There are too many variables down to the Amazon rep that answers the phone and if he/she is having a good day.

So call them up, find out and come back here to report your win (or loss)

Took delivery of my TC-P50ST50 yesterday. Got it through Amazon price match for $999. It was delivered with no damage. Delivery guy took it out of the box, plugged it in, waited while I looked for hairline cracks with a flashlight, carried it up a flight of stairs and disposed of the packaging material. Great job Amazon and Pilot. Oh yeah I almost forgot to mention that I got it in 2 days although it was not guaranteed like everything else with Prime. She's currently mounted on the wall running slides continuously for 100 hours per D-Nice recommendations. Can't wait to see how it compares to the Kuro 9th gen.
