Anyone here buy an st50 in Canada? Prices are pretty lousy here compared to the states

Bought a tcp50st50 end of June online at Gibby`s for $1198 in Canada. Paid only GST because the store is in Ontario and I live in Quebec. Total including taxes and delivery was $1348 Cdn.

The 60ST50 at Amazon ships in 1 to 2 months. It is the only model not in stock. Any idea why? Does it mean it is the most commonly bought? Or the least commonly produced? In your experience will this shipping time frame be reduced in the near future or perhaps increase even more?

This is all just speculation, but I believe that Panasonic has reduced the production of all of their new PDP's. The ST, IMO is somewhat of an odd duck between the UT and the GT as far as PQ and feature set. I can't find an ST in stock at a reasonable price (not even on the Panasonic EPP site), so I am concluding that this was the "Biggest Loser" as far as the supply demand model in this case.

I am leaning toward the UT over the GT at this point since it will be in a light controlled space in my basement and it is readily available even locally at Best Buy, and they do have a very good warranty and return policy for plasmas including IR problems.

ST by major reviewers early on was touted as the best bang for the buck . . . Myself, I moved from a 2011 VT to the 2012 ST precisely because the price point of the ST and the professional reviews. The STs for 2012 have simply been the best mover over the GTs and the VTs . . . Demand for the STs has been higher than the VTs and the GTs even though more bells and whistles on the VTs and GTs. The UTs are fine, but do not have the customization support of the STs, GTs, and VTs for those who want bells and whistles and the best pq.

Supply and demand at work on the STs, making them harder to find at a fabulous sale price.

Probably going to be Black Friday before we see those earlier great prices, but you never know. If the demand for STs slows down, then supply in the warehouses increases, well, we will see fantastic prices again.

Probably time to take another serious look at a GT or a VT when sales hit again. Panny will need to move those like they have the STs, since the STs have sold so well.

OK, who purchased all of the 60ST50's today on Amazon? I was informed that there were 20 this morning, but I was out and about and by the time I got home, all gone.

Hmmmm, maybe I will wait for black Friday...

That is the size I am looking for, but yesterday when I checked it said: SHIPS in 1 to 2 months !?

I am registered with amazon and keep items in my cart and "Save for later" so it send sme emails every morning to update me with the latest.

Heck I would have purchased one if not on my phone this morning and by the time I got back they were gone.

When I checked in the AM it said "Only 20 left in stock with more coming soon" whatever that means .

I may call Amazon tomorrow and see what they can tell me. I will let you know what I hear.

The whole "real time inventory" is bogus on Amazon.

There was a Dyson extension i wanted to buy and it said in stock in like 4 weeks. Next day it was available to ship and I received it 2 days later with prime.

I keep a ton of stuff in my Amazon cart, and click upon the cart ever day or so to see if anything has gone down significantly in price. Never knew you could set it up to receive a daily email with cart prices updated.

Has the 50ST50 dropped to $899 yet? I know about this time last year the 50ST30 was available at that price.

The 50ST50 was on sale for a week at a retail store a couple months ago at $899, but not since then.

I think Fry's may have had it at $899. I am hoping to see it go back down by the end of the year.

What's up with fry's not carrying anything above 55 inches? They still have the ST30 and GT30 in the 60 and 65 inch size with no advertised discounts. This is on top of the fact that as someone posted before- Costco isn't carrying a single Panny plasma at all this year. Wierd.

I just used this to price match guarantee with ABT. Picked this up along with a Panny 42 X5 for the loft. This link saved me $177. Appreciate that. Can't use amazon anymore 2/2 Kalifornia being broke and adding the tax in.

I'm in the market for a 65ST50 as well. Why did you use ABT instead of alltimetvs? I'm not savvy on how to go get the best deal on this panel.

I have used ABT before and had a good experience with them. Their 30 day money back guarantee is similar to amazons except that if u want to return it just because you don't like it, u have to pay (about $190). But if it's defective they pay. Shipping is free and no tx. Alltimetv may have been the same but I knew ABT and they price matched. I picked up a 42x5 at $398 to be delivered at the same time. Hope this helps.

65ST50 is $2,047 at East Coast TV's (after PAYCHECK 2% discount). Still not low enough for me, Paul's had it for $1,999 just over a month ago... so I'm still holding out.

If you add the coupon code "PAYCHECK" at checkout, the price drops to $2,047 (2% off on all HDTV's).

Granted, I wouldn't buy from these guys, but they work well for price checking.

Has anyone found any deals for a 65ST50? The lowest I've found so far from a site I would trust, is The Big River for $2299. Based on my price tracker, they've had it in the beginning of September for $2099. I've been waiting for them to come back down to that price. Anyone find anything cheaper?

They have some pretty good prices on the ST50 series. The tax brings it up quite a bit though.

I was looking at the 60" but after taxes it is $1563 which is only $37 lower than amazon, and I'm not sure of their return policy either.
