Please advice on subwoofer.

Hi,

I'd appreciate any advice on which subwoofer I should buy.

Price: max US$ 800;
Size: max 10";
Room dimensions: 18 feet x 11.5 feet. Roof is 7.2 feet tall. Room is open on the left (kitchen attached like "T" format);
Uses: 40% movies / 30% regular TV / 20% gamming / 10% music;
Timeframe: I need it before may 15th (my brother will be in NY and will bring it to me here in Brazil).

I already have a NR-809 (onkyo) Receiver and plan to buy a CSi A4 Center speaker and a RTi A7 floorstanding.

Thank you very much.

What do you mean max size 10"? The woofer driver itself? The width? height? or depth? of the cabinet?

Why this limitation?

I'm thinking 10" woofer max because it's going to be placed under a rack that is 15.7" height.
I should said that rather than limiting the woofer, right? Sorry for that.

FYI you are limiting yourself very much by your size constraint. Also usually under things is not the optimal place for subs. The sub crawl is the best way to determine where to place them.

With that said if you can't move it anywhere else and you need that size. I would recommend the SVS SB12-NSD. http://www.svsound.com/subwoofers/sealed-box/sb12-nsd

Thank you for the quick response! I'll take a look at it.

this limitation is imposed by my wife. If I want a home treater in the living room, it has to be harmonic with the furniture. during use I'll probably place it somewhere else and put it back when not using.

what about the supercube the 4000? Is it a recommended option?

Thanx

Never heard it be most ppl say that Def Tech really exaggerates their specs on their subs. SVS would definitely be a better choice.

The NHT 12 will fit in that space as well. Supposed to be pretty good.

just a thought, even if you hired it our to a cabinet builder you would end up with some thing real!
and you would not have to hide it after use...

That's a great job!
But my expertise in DIY is pretty much none. Also, the furniture is already there, so I'm the one who have to adapt to the living as it is.

I'll buy the SB12-NSD, following the recomendation here and on other threads. It seems to fit great on my needs.

I'm just having trouble to order it.
My credit card is been refused with a wrong billing address error despite my address been correct on the account info. Maybe because my card is from Brazil and the delivery is set to NY. I'll contact them to solve this problem.
