I'm looking for a set of bookshelves in the $400-600 range for use in my living room setup. This will be used for 70% music 30% HT/Games. Sources will be CDs and SACDs and the occasional bluray movie. I will eventually add a matching center channel. Will be driven with my Marantz SR5005 and possibly an external amp (most likely 2-ch) down the road. Room is 13x18 with the main listening area approx. 11' from the speakers.
I'm basically looking for a speaker that will shine in 2-ch for music and won't be a complete slouch for HT. I currently have an all Polk Monitor setup that I've had for years and am ready to move up. I don't mind the Polks but for music the tweeter can be very harsh and fatiguing.
I won't tell you what I've looked at so far. Hit me with some suggestions and I'll try to track them down to listen. I can get to the DC area in about 2 1/2 hrs, Philly in 3.

). Or stretch the budget and get Sierra-1's (also Ascend), which are my new favorites (unless a pair comes available used then maybe within your budget).
