DVD plays through Stereo Speakers but Blu-Ray doesn't!

I purchased aPanasonic GT50 television, a Panasonic DMP BQT310 Blu-ray player, and a MX-900i universal remote a couple of weeks ago.

An installer set up the equipment so that I could run the audio for the TV and Blu-ray through the TV or my stereo receiver. The receiver is a Rotel RX1052

After installation, I tested the Blu-ray with a DVD disc and I was able to play it through the TV and stereo speakers without a problem. That still works fine.

The problem is that I can't play a Blu-ray disc though my stereo speakers - I can hear the Blu-ray sound only through my TV.

Any thoughts as to how I can fix it?

For the 310, be sure that the sub is going into the avr, that the main is going to the tv (not hdmi2 arc), somewhere under 3D settings > Hdmi (sub) set to V.Off

You may have to go check your settings again in your avr. I had to turn off a setting and turn it back on again to get it to work. I'm sorry that I can't recall which one, but it was an hdmi setting. I'm tired since I spent all day trying to figure this out. I thought it may have been the new hdmi cables, I tried everything (literally) and this is what finally worked for me. Oh and I did have to run the setup again for my speakers because I'd moved my components around in the cabinet before the tv arrived.

Who is the "you" that you bought this set up from and who set you up?

You don't describe how you are connected between the 310 and your receiver. If you are connected using the 2-channel analog audio outs, that is the problem. The analog audio outs on the 310 are disabled when you are outputting 24p video through HDMI. You either need to turn off 24p output, or (what I did for my Panny 110) buy a digital-to-analog converter (check out monoprice.com).

The seller who hasn't responded to my question. I've modified the post to omit the reference. Didn't intend to include it.

A few basic follow up questions from someone not familiar with all the jargon.

What is the sub?
What is the avr?
What is the main?

What setting did you have to turn off and turn it back on again to get it to work?

Would you mind explaining as simply as possible for a layman exactly what you mean?

Thanks very much.

The main is hdmi 1 coming out of the 310 and the sub is #2 hdmi out- look at the manual or the back of the 310 and you'll see what I mean. Avr is your receiver.

It might serve you well to read the 310 manual and to review the one for your avr too.

Thanks. I'll take a look at the manuals and see if I can figure things out with your suggestions.

Turning off the 24p output worked. Thanks very much for your help!
