Epson 5010/6010 owners need your input

I am considering a JVC and a Sony projector only because I have read and heard that Epson has a fan noise. Rated at about 32 dB in normal mode vs JVC SR 45 about 22 and Sony WH30 about 20 dB

If the Epson was hanging from the ceiling and resting about 2 feet above the seating area, how much of a noise is there?

I would hate hearing the hummmmm of a fan.

I have an 8500ub and an 8350 both ceiling mounted 2 feet above the seating area. I'm not sure what the db rating is but being Epson, probably very similar. You do hear the fan, about as loud as a computer (I have an older Dell), but doesn't bother me nor do I think of it as being distracting. But I would be lying to you If I said it's not noticeable.........but hey, it's white noise.

more than likely, unless you have a completely sound proof bunker cordoned off from the rest of your house, the noise floor in your theater is going to be higher than 32db's anyways. I wouldnt worry about it, ive got the jvc but its on a shelf above my second row of seating, but ive never come close to hearing it during playback of anything.

I think the 5010/6010 is rated at 32db in "dynamic" mode. Running in ECO mode with high altitude mode on, its whisper quiet from about 3-4' above me and very bright. In dynamic mode the fan can be heard in quiet scenes.
