Bitstream Bomb & Integra

I have an Integra 7.8 from 2008 that has never been updated.
I've always run LPCM from my ps3 to the 7.8, with no problems.
Recently I watch a movie that was only in Dolby 5.1, and it sounded awful, so i switched to bitstream and it was much better.

My question is, is it worth doing the update now?
Is it just DTS HD that had the issue?
Is there a list of movies that had the issue, so i could just avoid those for bitstream?

My AVR has been good to me, so I dont want to send it out for someone to mess with.

Thanks!

If you can tell there is a big difference between the two streams in Dolby Digital 5.1, then something has to be wrong. DD 5.1 has been out for awhile and I do not think there was any regressive issues on it for awhile as the decoding standard has been set for a while.

The DSP fixes issues with the Star Wars Blu-Ray discs. The DTS HD Master decoder DSP could not decode certain signals which resulted in a big sonic bomb which could destroy the amp and/or speakers.
