download movie cover art?

Hi all, I’m new to all this so I apologize if its common knowledge. Can someone recommend a preferably free software or method that would automatically add a movie cover to movies stored on a NAS drive? I find it a bit hard to pick a movie to watch without the movie cover/art. I’m hoping there is a simple way to add the movie cover to drive.

Thanks in advance.

I use a tool called Media Companion to download metadata and movie posters / fan art, to support XBMC. It doesn't require XBMC, and XBMC can download this information by itself, by I find using a separate tool to do so gives me more options as far as sources for alternative covers and art, and seems to be faster than the XBMC provided tools.

Media Center Master

It pulls information from TVDB, TMDB & IMDB.
You have to make sure your movie/folder name matches the one on TMDB's website. If there are multiple titles with the same name, include the year in the name. Best way is to copy the name directly from the webpage.

And I'll check out Media Center Master too, always good to see if there's something better out there.

+1 for Media Center Master. Works nearly effortlessly.

The other thing you need to do is look at common naming conventions and make sure your files are named accordingly (at a minimum use Movie Name (year)). If a file isn't scraping correctly go to themoviedb.org and check out how they've done it. Personally, I haven't found the need for any separate scrapers other than the default included with XBMC.

Are your movie folders empty?
Also, check MCM settings to 'download all available backdrops'.

Does yammm do movie.xml or only mymovies.xml metadata?

I've been not to pleased with MediaBrowser lately but it could just be something I am doing wrong. It isn't creating the metafile at all and it messes up the aspect ratio and doesn't scrape the studio name. Somewhere I read that after the free trial expires some of the functionality goes away to entice the user to buy it.

I'm connecting an external hard drive to my Oppo bdp-93 via usb. I can access all my movies from the 93 but it just displays a generic icon next to the name of the movie. Can I use one of the above mentioned programs to get cover art, would I just hook up the ehd to my pc to put the info on my ehd?
