Laser Raster Projectors (is laser-DLP also raster?)

Hi,

Sorry to ask an ignorant question, but I wanted to know if these new hybrid laser-DLP projectors are raster based?

My main motivation for my question is that I want to buy a new modern large display to use with my old raster-based light gun and gaming system. (No, I don't want to switch to these newer light guns with the infrared LEDs, because I hate their poor accuracy. I find the old raster-based light guns give the most enjoyable experience.)

I've heard a lot about the newer hybrid LED laser DLP projectors, and I've read that DLP is a raster-based technology, but I wanted to make sure it's raster before I buy one.

Failing that, does anybody know if there are any true laser raster projectors in the works, that might be good candidates for me to use with my raster light gun?

Sorry, no. Both LCD and DLP that use lasers or LEDs refresh the entire display panel at once.

The only true laser based raster-scanning projector I know of is Microvision's ShowWX+ and ShowWX+ HDMI:

These are pico projectors though @ 15 lumens so unless you keep the picture 20" or so they may not be bright enough. Good luck

Gee, that's too bad.

I was hoping that there would be a good new raster-projection technology on the horizon, to make raster-lightguns popular again.

Oh well, maybe something new will come out to outperform the raster-lightgun.

It's not like light guns are a huge market and sales driver...
