Onkyo HTS9400THX vs Onkyo 609 w/ Klipsch speakers

Hi All,

As always I turn to my HD Brethren for advice. Will try not to bore you. Wife has given me the green light to update the basement man cave which is 12x24.

Right now I have picked out

Epson 8350 Projector
Carada 92" Fixed screen

Dilemma - receiver and speakers

First Choice:

Onkyo 609
Klipsch KF floor speakers and KC 25 center channel

Total around $1400 ( I will have to recycle my Yamaha satellites for the other 4 speakers and also Yamaha 10" sub)

OR

I can go with Onkyo HTIB HTS9400THX 7.1 system for about $800

Both Receivers are THX and have a good amount of HDMI inputs for me..

Decisions decisions...

Before I give any advice....... How much can you spend??? What is your percentage of use for movies and music?

Thanks for the quick response. For Audio I would like to stay around 1500 for speakers and receiver. If I go the way of Onkyo/Klipsch package, looking at about $1400......

Trying to design on a dime but not spite my nose to save a nickel

Ok so that's a decent size room!!! Honestly the sub needs to be a good one I have a space that big and I have 2 subs. And guess what I bought them on sale and now they are on sale again until April 30th best sub in this price range I love it. Onkyo 609 receiver for $290 http://www.accessories4less.com/make...eceiver/1.html. Its a refurbished unit, I own an 808 refurbished and no trouble with it at all. I love it.

Speakers:

That's a total of $1,559 and that system will be awesome for you. Way better than the Onkyo 9400THX and better than the 609 with Klipsch, cuz this gets you 7 new speakers and 1 new sub.

Interestingly enough polk was my other alternative to the Klipsch...those are some great deals.....

I am iffy on getting a refurbed Onkyo as I can pay $60 more for a new one but the Polk deals were awesome...thank you!
