The HX750 represents excellent bang for the buck IMO and if you are not a demanding videophile it should satisfy most of your needs, but the HX850 is definitely a step up. Which set is best for you depends on a number of subjective factors. Off the top of my head, the biggest advantages of the HX850 are:
1) X-Reality Pro video processor (vs. X-Reality in the HX750). This is the most important factor for me as it should result in an improved overall PQ.
2) "Dynamic Edge LED backlighting with local dimming" (vs. Dynamic Edge with "frame dimming").
3) Motionflow XR 960 (vs. XR 480)
4) OptiContrast Panel
5) Gorilla Glass and "monolithic styling"
Whether the Sony UPP will allow any further reductions in the sale price is anyone's guess. But I doubt it will be lowered more than $100 to $150 at any point unless unusual factors come into play.
