Camcorder Under $800 With Mic Input

Hi all

I have a job coming up where I need to record some lectures.

Was just wondering if you have any recommendations for a camcorder under $800 that work well in low light situations and have an external mic input so I can attach my rode videomic to it, although I can use my zoom H1 to record sound externally if need be. My Canon 60d would be perfect, but it's not really the best for filming extended periods of time, and most lectures are like 60 minutes long

Any suggestions would be great, thanks!

n - If you want a camcorder, I would get a $740 Canon HF M40. It has mic and headphone jacks - and camcorderinfo says it is has great low light performance.

If you want another "DSLR" type camera with interchangeable lenses that can record for an hour or more, I would get a $800 Panasonic GH2 with a $19 EF to micro 4/3 adapter so you can use your fast Canon lenses and a $6 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter to plug your Rode into the camera's 2.5mm mic jack.

Here is what the GH2 can do in low light with a Canon 50mm/f1.4 lens on it (it's a test of the Extended Tele Converter mode, but you get the idea): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CrnOkvxPn0M

Here is what it can do with Canon L glass (16-35mm f2.8L): http://vimeo.com/18569708

Hope this is helpful and good luck with your shoot!

I've read really good reviews on the Panasonic HC-V700. It's down to $450 online now. That's what I plan on getting in a week or two.
